The high quality of recent economic growth should put a wind at the back of the White House’s next occupant

Whoever wins the White House next week will take office with no shortage of challenges, but at least one huge asset: an economy that is putting its peers to shame.

With another solid performance in the third quarter, the U.S. has grown 2.7% over the past year. It is outrunning every other major developed economy, not to mention its own historical growth rate. Oct 31, 2024

Then Donald Trump comes along and not only drops the baton, proceeds to squat and take a giant shit on it.

Trump is a blithering, doddering, senile, megalomaniacal, pig-ignorant, criminally deranged psychopath.

Why are his devout followers here so oblivious to him proving it on a constant basis? It's not even hyperbole.

  2. by HatetheSwamp on April 4, 2025 12:08 pm

    Wha?

Inflation is down. Employment is up. What's the problem?

  3. by meagain on April 4, 2025 12:42 pm
Inflation is up since Trump, not down. Unemployment has increased since Trump took office. Not bo a lot yet. That will happen before this month is out.

You'll have to forgive Hts, meagain. He gets all of his news and opinions from State Regime Media, and when he wrong, which he constantly is, instead of learning from his mistake, he doubles down and goes back to the same sources that lied to him. He's the bald male geriatric version of Karoline Leavitt.

"Inflation is up since Trump, not down."

    I don't believe you.

  6. by Donna on April 4, 2025 2:18 pm

Actually Hts is correct on inflation. It went from 3.0% in Jan to 2.8% in Feb. The figure for March won't become available until Apr 10, and I'm guessing that it won't deviate much if at all from Feb's figure, but if Trump's boneheaded tariffs remain in effect, inflation will certainly rise.

Thanks, Donna, not that anything Trump's done could have impacted the rate of inflation...

  8. by Donna on April 4, 2025 2:27 pm

Well yeah, actually he has, but his maniacle war-on-the-world tariff scheme hasn't had enough time to show up in inflation figures yet.

  9. by meagain on April 5, 2025 2:05 pm
It depends on which figures you look at. The core rate in February was 3.1 " above the rate for February 2024. December last was 2.9%. It is core inflation that affects the vast majority of people.
