Just face it. Trump's playing chess; the rest of us are just playing checkers!

"He's created maximum leverage for himself," (Scott) Bessent said on NBC News' 'Meet the Press.'"

You're in good hands, with Orangeman, baha.

So? Which 50 countries out of 200 or so countries? What do Americans get out of it while our investments and retirement accounts are decreasing and consumer prices are increasing?

  2. by HatetheSwamp on April 6, 2025 3:38 pm

    Curt,

I dunno. According to the article, Bessent didn't say. But, 50 in what? four day!!!!!?

I get it. You don't care if the country goes to h€ll if Trump looks bad.

    TDS kills.

  3. by Curt_Anderson on April 6, 2025 4:01 pm
50, so they claim, want to "talk". Is that some sort of accomplishment?

For people who depend on their retirement accounts and those who care about their investments (which is 62% of Americans) this is hell and Trump does look bad.

    Curt,

I oppose the tariffs... but with a brain. I'm libertarian-ish. You've turned your brain off. You're operating on pure viscera.

All you know these days is deranged TrumpHate.

    HtS,
You are cultist with cognitive dissonance. You know these tariffs are ill-advised and damaging to America and world. Yet you cannot offer a full-throated denunciation of Trump who authored these tariffs, and you cannot help but defend the tariffs as if there some benefit we should expect.

  7. by Donna on April 6, 2025 5:46 pm

The problem, Curt, is that you're trying to make sense out of the ramblings of a common troll.

  8. by Indy! on April 6, 2025 6:38 pm

The list of countries will to negotiate probably sounds a lot like whatever movie that was where Michael Moore listed the "coalition of the willing" from the Iraq war...

"Afghanistan, Albania, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, El Salvador, Eritrea, Estonia, Ethiopia, Georgia, Hungary, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, the Netherlands, Nicaragua, the Philippines, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Uzbekistan...."

  9. by oldedude on April 6, 2025 6:53 pm
As I said before. Those countries that are hurt the worst, will capitulate. Then there are those that are "'hurt" by the tariffs." princess, prove the "coalition of the willing" statement. Otherwise, STFU.

curt- You are cultist with cognitive dissonance. You know these tariffs are ill-advised and damaging to America and world. Yet you cannot offer a full-throated denunciation of Trump who authored these tariffs, and you cannot help but defend the tariffs as if there some benefit we should expect.
curt. I'm going to call you on your bullshit and cognitive dissonance. If you can "prove" that scientifically, that's fine. If not, you're a troll on your own site. You need to legally show this. With your brain. NOT your heart.

  10. by Curt_Anderson on April 6, 2025 7:07 pm
    OD,
Fortunately the First Amendment allows me to make that diagnosis. He admits he opposes tariffs but he cannot bring himself to directly criticize Trump for imposing them. According to HtS we are supposed to be happy that 50 unnamed countries are supposedly willing to talk to Trump.

Can you "prove" that scientifically that HtS does NOT have cognitive dissonance?

    I didn't think so.

By the way, Trump's argument is that America is being ripped off as we are the victims of global trade and all the other mean countries are taking advantage of us. That is belied by the intent of tariffs which is to pressure other countries into negotiating with Trump. We cannot be the 800 pound gorilla of consumerism that other countries must deal with and simultaneously be the victim of the cruel world.

  11. by oldedude on April 6, 2025 7:41 pm
curt- can you "Prove" you, po, donna, princess, and meagain, are living in a true world no cognitive dissonance? honestly. You were bitched slapped in the last election. And yet you still support pedojoe. Just like the "good little germans in the beginning years of the Reichstag. And you support sex slavery. And pedophilia, all because of what you haven't (or maybe have) said.

So many "what if's" bullshit. Little voices in their heads about some fairy world they live in.

Cognitive Dissonance and the Discomfort of Holding Conflicting Beliefs
So we''ll go with that definition for the time. For Lead. What you consider "holding conflicting beliefs" is actually something that well-adjusted people would be called "well adjusted." These are people that look at the facts and find a true solution. I understand you think the same of me, because I disagree with Lead a good deal of the time. We both still know our own goals, and a minor thing is just that. We've both agreed with the sheeple. AND we mostly disagreed with the sheeple. I'm open to what he says because he always talks about the reason (based on fact) of why he believes a certain way. I don't actually know how he falls in the "Christian" philosophy. And we can still talk. You're asking (aksing me sorry, slang) to pull a Judas on him (meaning you expect me to tell a falsehood about him).

I think what you're looking for with po, indy, meagain, yourself et.al.is: Psychosis is a mental health condition characterized by a disconnection from reality, which may include symptoms such as hallucinations (seeing or hearing things that are not present) and delusions (strongly held false beliefs). It can be triggered by various factors, including mental illness, physical illness, substance abuse, or extreme stress.

I think the latter is more accurate than the former for your "buddies."

So? Which 50 countries out of 200 or so countries? What do Americans get out of it while our investments and retirement accounts are decreasing and consumer prices are increasing?

I'm kinda thinking that 50 countries out of two hundred in the first got someone's attention. I'd say that's pretty fucking go as a matter of FACT.

So we know that canada and china are going to be little pricks. As well as Venezuela, Columbia, Brazil, south africa, ectectect. That's just a Known. And in a couple of months? countries will capitulate to the stronger economy. It doesn't matter what the head of that country wants, it's about what happens to their country and how they get elected again.

Again, you can't find your "manhood," much less look past it. The point is these things don't exist in a vacuum. As I was taught. "All things are all things." which means all things are interwoven, like it or not.

According to HtS we are supposed to be happy that 50 unnamed countries are supposedly willing to talk to Trump.

    No.

According to pb, Curt has no reason to oppose the tariffs apart from the fact that Trump's in favor of them. The very fact that 50 nations would engage Trump in conversation doesn't jive with the woke liturgy being published in the Worship Bulletin of Curt's Holy Trinity.

And, pb's having a full-on hoot fest over wokesters' ignorance over the biggest issue of the moment, knowing only that their viscera tells them OrangeTurdBad.

Curt's crowd is so disoriented that his lot has forgotten about Signalgate. Keehee ha.

BTW, I think that, in the past, I've noted that I think that Trump is despicable. If not, I do.

  14. by oldedude on April 7, 2025 7:50 am
Again, So far we have 50 countries that are willing to negotiate. I consider that a win. Like I said before, the problem children are the one's that align themselves with China, Russia, DPRK, Iran. And canada (which at this time, could be seen as supporting the other facetious regimes) is fighting back. Our economy has enough to wait them out if nothing else. The biggest thing is their agricultural products, automotive, steel, and aluminum industry. They're starting to lay people off, and the industry is grinding to a halt. Those are the "sticking points" where the tariffs are the largest. In 2024, the U.S. spent $412,695,700,000 on imports from Canada, which affected goods such as steel, aluminum, and agricultural products. In the same year, the U.S. spent $349,359,900 on exports from Canada.

It has to do with what I said. If you can follow a thread, you should also be able to follow a single point made in a single post. Of course, I might be giving you far more credit on this one than you actually deserve.

First, imports from Canada and exports from Canada are the same thing so they can't be different amounts. If you are showing the American surplus but used the wrong description, that's OK. America exports more than it imports if oil is left to. Far more.

There seems to be an automatic assumption that the 50 countries are 'capitulating. They are not. They want to negotiate mutually beneficial trade agreements. So do the other hundred plus who have not reached out. If Trump insists on his tariffs, then the war continues.

Also, OD, the GDP of the countries who are retaliating is far greater than America's. The longer America "waits it out," the deeper the recession in America. Your support for the tariffs and contemptuous dismissal of Canada and others who are now joining Canada in the fight is an illustration of your ignorance and foolishness. It ranks with the supporters of Putin's aggression and will have the same fall.

Trump's metaphorical likening of it to a bad tasting medicine is apt if one remembers his support for Ivermectin for COVID. It will treat the intestinal worms in the American body politic. A strong dose may end the flirtation with Fascism.

I didn't "assume" they were capitulating. If that's what you got, I didn't mean it. I agree with you. Each country has their own interest in mind, although there are some countries that feel their interest is to take the US on. And if that's what they want, as Lead says "BANG ON!"

And yes, I agree with your first remark. My bad.

  20. by Curt_Anderson on April 7, 2025 10:03 am
    Meagain, et al,
There also seems to be an automatic assumption that ARE 50 countries willing to talk with Trump. That number is probably inflated tenfold by the administration.

Also countries are negotiating with themselves to have options if Trump is unreasonable. We don't make or grow anything that cannot be substituted from a foreign source.

Always the good little nazi. pedojoe, gang members that are murdering and raping, terrorists, and folks attacking Jews are perfect👏. Orange anus-face somethingsomething bad.

You need to work on your analogies, OD.
