...which means that at age 66, if I live an average number of years, I've already lived 86% of my life.

Besides Sheri who's 63, I think I'm the youngest here.

I've been doing a lot of thinking, perhaps you coukd call it soul searching about the gargantuan number of hours I've been spending on special media, and I'm realizing that for the most part, it's been a waste. Sheri came to this realization a while back.

I probably won't leave this forum or Facebook altogether, but I'm drastically cutting back on the time I spend on social media.

The life expectancy is statistics you cited does not mean I can expect to live another seven years. Look up actuarial tables for life expectancy. Your life expectancy is considerably longer than 77 years. That’s because unlike a newborn, you’ve already successfully navigated several decades, without being in a fatal car crash, being in a gun shoot out, overdosing on drugs or contracting a fatal illness. Congratulations! You’ve done well and so far so good. I no longer have any illusions or expectations that any kind of meaningful or rational dialogue will ever be forthcoming or even possible with our two resident trolls. I think we all know that they use this simply as a platform that enables them to hurl sarcastic and condescending insults and engage in childish name calling. I also know that by responding to them we are only enabling them to continue to do so. I do however have to admit that sometimes I get caught up in some of their nonsensical arguments and respond in kind even though I know that’s exactly what they want and by doing so it only encourages them. What time I do actually spend on “social media’’ is almost entirely on spent Facebook with friends and family and it’s quite enjoyable. Both my wife and I come from very LARGE families spread out across the country so it’s an excellent way to keep in touch, share photos, memories, and keep up on the latest news.
