At 81 has anybody ever been criticized or even questioned if they chose to retire? I don't think Biden would need to come up with any excuse. Maybe he can say it's for the good of democracy. It's a lucky thing this debate was so early in the year.

As disappointed as Democrats might be, I doubt any of them will be switching their vote to Trump. The independents are another matter of course. We will see what the polls indicate soon.

As bad as Biden was, Trump was firehose of falsehoods. For example, I sincerely doubt Nancy Pelosi "took responsibility" for not calling in the National Guard on January 6th. I am pretty sure she didn't have that authority. If the Speaker did, Kevin McCarthy would have called them in when Marjory Taylor Greene challenged him.

Trump's lies won't matter as most people won't be checking with the fact-checkers. This is especially true of the undecideds as they are generally low-information voters. But they can see and judge a poor stage performance.

The NY Post and Republicans uses out of context snippets of the conversation. As you alluded Mitch McConnell had a same authority--actually the same lack of authority--to call in the National Guard.

So little nancy apparently didn't know her actions if that happens. OR there was some mens rea regarding not moving this up the flagpole to get response folks there. And why she didn't, could be she could blame it on the GOP, which they have done at nauseum.

Lead- you asked for my "reaction" of the debate. Yes, I did watch it all.... all friggin 12 hours of it.... Oh! it was 90 minutes?

First. trumpster pushed every button he wanted to get pedojoe dazed and confused.

pedojoe? I didn't even think there was anything different going on with him. It looked like pedojoe. Mouth gaped open, shoulders slumped, 1000 yard stare, etc. I'll bet they had to change him afterwards. So nothing different that I could see.

I pity the folks that are "shocked" at his stuff. This is like the little germans figuring out there was a concentration camp and they were burning Jews 3km from them😲. Downwind for the ashes.

Both of them were inaccurate. That's a given. Those that understand 3rd grade math understand his numbers on the economy are just a lie. Period. It's not how inflation is felt on the American people. I understand that's what they say, and that's their story and they're sticking to it.

So lead. there is my thoughts on the "debate." pedojoe was no better or worse than usual, trumpster was a little more sedate, and poked that bear several good times. That shook pedojoe for a bit, but the adrenalin caught up with the pedo and he started being able to respond. trumpster laid off, joe went back to his dementia stance. So trumpster laid off. So trumpster has a "feel" for people and how to manipulate the conversation. Like any good leader or CEO.

Having a "feel" for people and being able to manipulate the conversation is a skill more often associated with phone scammers and other con artists.

Exactly. Curt, for one, apparently, genuinely is surprised. But,this is exactly what you and I knew was possible.

How CNN and MSNBC and NYT and WaPo, et.al. commentators were flummoxed by Joe's performance? As Joe'd whisper, "well anyway." C'mon man. Gimme a break!

We all have preferences and prejudices that we bring to every moment of our lives. But, holy freakin friggin EFFINcow!

We have very close friends who get all their "news" from The TODAY Show and from Lester Holt on NBC Nightly News. They'd have had reason to see Joe at the debate and be surprised... but Curt, po, Indy? Nah.
