    Can't wait to see that.

I loved part 1 - thought it was one of the best sci-fi movies ever. Going into part 2 was a little intimidating because I was hoping it wouldn't disappoint like most sequels. No worries - it far surpasses the original. The plot is as deep as any movie you can name and every aspect of every scene and subplot is flawless. They pick up where part 1 left off, expand the story out in all directions, pick up new characters and subplots and every place it goes is exciting and new. It was satisfying, exhilarating, horrifying and heartbreaking - so emotionally draining for close to 3 hours that you almost want to cry when it's over. And after all is said and done, the ending perfectly wraps up all of part 2 while still revealing just a tiny peek of the future so you leave hungry for part 3.

You’ll love it, Pondy. This aint Star Wars - it’s real science fiction of the highest order. 👍

I also was absolutely pleased as I could be with Part 1. Totally loved it. It was so true to the book and the characters. And it all just... worked . Like no other attempt to bring that story to the big screen ever has. Every single element of Part 1 was five-star.

It seems to me that they probably shot both parts almost as one big long movie. So I have been fully expecting Part 2 to be at least as good as Part 1 was. It's definitely going to be the next movie we see at a theater. We don't even do that more than a couple time a year.

I see that it's getting reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.

I rarely go to movies these days too - maybe 3 or 4 a year basically the big ticket 3D movies. It's even more rare that I'll see the same movie twice in the theater - only did that a handful of times, but I would really like to see this one again before it leaves. I have part 1 on blu ray - think I'm going to watch it and then go directly to the theater for part 2. It really is like one long story as you said, Pondy.

    Did you know...

Frank Herbert’s epic 1965 science fiction novel Dune tells the story of a future civilization fighting to control precious resources on a harsh desert planet. The book has been praised as the first major ecological science fiction novel and spawned decades of subsequent novels and on-screen adaptations. A major new film adaptation of Dune has just been released in theaters and on streaming platforms across the world.

But while the story of the clash of civilizations on the planet Arrakis is set in a time and a place far away, Herbert’s inspiration for the story came from a battle between man and nature in the rolling sand dunes of the Oregon coast.

In the early 20th century, the coastal Oregon city of Florence was under threat of being consumed by the nearby dunes that were being whipped across human structures by the coastal winds. Roads, railroad tracks, even homes were being swallowed up by blowing sand. Starting in the 1920′s, the US Department of Agriculture ran a program to try and stabilize the dunes by planting European Beach Grass. The hope was that its dense roots would hold the sand in place and prevent it from burying nearby cars and homes.
