Look, I've said this before many years ago, but it apparently bears repeating.

All that the Palestinians in occupied Palestine needed to do to avoid all this bloodshed and turmoil was for 70 years ago to have simply surrendered and given up to Israel. Totally and en masse.

Let them take everything that they had. Israel was allowed by their god, and supplied by America, to take everything that the Palestinians had had for many centuries anyways and there was little that they could do about it, since the U.S. backed Israel's every atrocity. They were destined by Israel's god to be put into huge open air prison complexes anyways. There was no sense in fighting it. They are a thoroughly conquered race. They have been for many decades. They exist only as refugees... prisoners in what was once their own land. They only make things worse by fussing about it. Struggling and complaining and fighting back only makes their captivity, and their children's captivity, and their children's children's children's captivity all the worse and their captors that much more animalistic and barbarous in retaliating against the whole population. Israel has got that down to an art form with all the decades of practice. Any armed resistance is beyond futile.

Palestinians have simply got to abandon this self-deluded, cruel and pointless dream of ever being a people in control of their own lives and destinies. Israel is their master now and the Palestinians need to start acting like it. They should just do whatever their Master tells them to do, go wherever they are told to, and die whenever it pleases their Master with a smile on their eternally doomed faces. They are prisoners. Their children are prisoners. Their grand children are prisoners. Their decedents for all the rest of time will be prisoners. Just deal with it and give thefuck up already!

Palestinians... Accept your fate!

All they've needed to do was for all Palestinians and their descendants to simply accept their status as prisoners at the hands of a far superior regime and thankfully take whatever scraps and crumbs that the Israelis deign to give them for the rest of eternity. Then the Israeli military wouldn't even have any reason to shower them with cluster bombs.

The Israelis were allowing them to live their lives... Albeit to live in deplorable and horrific conditions and constant dangers that not a single American citizen would ever stand being condemned forever to live with for a second. What are they complaining about? They're alive, aren't they? If they can manage to find food, they can eat it, can't they? If they can manage to keep from being blown up in their already blown up apartments, they can, can't they? If Israel turns on the water spigots in Gaza, they can drink it, can't they? If they need medical attention, they can get it after taking days to go through countless check points and barriers, can't they? If they want to leave the country to visit relatives in... Well... Never mind. Palestinians don't really need to be going on any vacations anyways.

Palestinians are in no position to complain about anything. Heck, they've got it made if they'd only change their perspective a little. They have just needed to be bigger than their satanic overlords and return every attack, every murdered child, every heinously sociopathic thing that the Israeli government and military did to them with kindness, affection, and most of all appreciation! But nooooooooooooooo...!

The Palestinians are such ingrates.

    Ponderer,
I will attempt to cut through your thick slab of sarcasm. What is the solution? Should the Israelis up and leave Israel? The land where you sit now was once the home of Pima Indians, then the Spanish took possession, and later Mexico owned it before United States did. At what point do people no longer have claim to a particular plot of land?

My own ancestors, and probably yours, left countries that are no longer recognized as countries. since the time that humans have been bipedal, we have been mobile and left the places we once called home.

Given the historic antagonism and the hyper religiosity of the Palestinians and the Israelis, can they ever coexist?

Gazans are penned up in Gaza by Israel and Egypt. As OD pointed out the Palestinians are Shiite Muslims while Egyptians are Sunni Muslims. For reasons I do not understand Israel and Egypt have maintained a blockade, so Gazans cannot emigrate to other countries. Nor nor does there seem to be any country, including Shiite Muslim countries, inviting Palestinians in.

  2. by Ponderer on October 9, 2023 12:10 pm

Curt, though my post was generously laced with sarcasm, sadly, what I proposed was actually the Palestinians' best option! One which should have been taken well over half a century ago. They would never have gotten a better deal from Israel than unconditional surrender way back then.

Once the UN gave Palestine to Israel, there was absolutely no chance whatsoever that Israel was ever going to share anything it stole that it didn't want to. And it didn't want to. It went right ahead annexing and building walls and taking more and more and more and more land, pushing and pushing and pushing the Palestinians into tighter and tighter open air prisons. It blew off UN sanctions and reprimands like they were utterly inconsequential. Like they were nothing, and the U.S. always ran veto interference for them. Regardless of whatever heinous atrocity Israel ever committed and the entire unanimous rest of the world wanted them to pay for. Hell, we gave them the weapons to commit their atrocities with in the first place for fucksake!

In all these years, it has been Israel's constant and sacred goal not to return anything back to the Palestinians. The leadership of Israel, ever since it has existed, has literally never had any intention whatsoever of a "Two State Solution". Period. They are playing a very long game here and will not quit until they have everything their god wants them to have. And they couldn't give a flying rat's ass about the situation that puts their hapless prisoners in. In fact the Palestinians would all be doing themselves a big favor by simply dropping dead.

Some may say that what Hamas is doing is suicide for them and the Palestinians in the Occupied Territories. But then maybe it has finally come to the point for Palestinians still managing to exist in the Occupied Territories where suicide is preferable to living another 70 years or more as prisoners of a sadistic tyrant country that just wants them to stop existing already?

Curt, we are way past any possibility of a negotiated "peace". Give that up right away. The Israelis will never go for anything less than everything and the Palestinians will never go for whatever pathetic crumbs Israel wants to offer them.

And when you think about it, what point is there in negotiating with parties that have no intention of ever compromising? Israel will never give back any of the land it has stolen and Palestine will never stop wanting their land back and revenge for the genocidal treatment they've received over three quarters of a century.

So Israel will never compromise and Palestine will never forgive them. That's where we are. And there is no "best" option for any solution. Palestinians arefucked. Israel isfucked. And the whole region isfucked.

How do you get to Middle East Peace...?

Unfortunately, you just can't get there from here.

"The United States must stand with Israel in the face of this terror attack by the Islamist terrorist group Hamas. This is just the latest example of the greater war being waged by both Sunni and Shia Islamist jihadists throughout the world. This should be a wakeup call to leaders everywhere that Islamist jihadists are the greatest short and long-term threat to the safety, security, and freedom of the American people, and people throughout the world." -Tulsi (AKA by Curt, the PILF)

    No surprise.

No. That she would say such a thing, idiot.

  7. by Donna on October 9, 2023 1:56 pm

Curt - Nearly all Palestinians are Sunni, not Shi'ite. I used to work with a lot of Palestinians when I was in infotech. I also used to rent a room in a house where several Palestinian men lived. Some Palestinians are Shi'ite, but they're not the dominant sect. There are also Palestinian Christians.

  8. by Curt_Anderson on October 9, 2023 2:23 pm
    Donna,
I more or less took OD's word for it. See #11 in link below. To be fair, he said Hamas are Shi'ite, not that Palestinians are Shi'ite. Regardless if they are Sunni or Shi'ite or Christians, it doesn't explain why Egypt and Israel maintain a blockade and don't allow them to leave for other countries.

According to Palestinians I've known (I used to carpool with one,) they're the "n----rs" of the Arab world. Arabs in other countries don't want anything to do with them either.

Since the 1960's Lebanon has been the big enticer of Hamas. Iran basically owns both regions. If you want to blame people in the "open air jail," blame Iran. They are doing nothing to assist the camps and towns of Palestine. Except for now. Why would Iran do this? Because keeping the people in the camps is a great for the making of terrorists.

So who's land is it? Well, a couple thousand years before Mohammad (or Jesus) were alive came the Jews in the land. It was called Canaan (or Southern Levant), and the 12 tribes lived in the region. If you go to the west (well, southwest), is the great sand desert (Saudi Arabia), and Egypt. If you go to the east, you have Mesopotamia/ Babylon (The land of the two Rivers, Iraq. Then Persia.

So honestly, other than the Romans, British, and French at different times, Palestine (under British rule at the time), was a complete mix of cultures, Like Lebanon. Christian, Jew, Muslim were all in the area living in a somewhat tenuous relationship, but not at war with each other. Skip ahead through the Crusades and into the early 20th Century.

In comes WWI, and the Ottoman empire. The Balfour Declaration was a public statement issued by the British government in 1917 during the First World War announcing its support for the establishment of a "national home for the Jewish people" in Palestine, then an Ottoman region with a small minority Jewish population. The declaration was contained in a letter dated 2 November 1917 from the United Kingdom's Foreign Secretary Arthur Balfour to Lord Rothschild, a leader of the British Jewish community, for transmission to the Zionist Federation of Great Britain and Ireland. The text of the declaration was published in the press on 9 November 1917.

All in all, the Turks, Germans, and Austria-Hungary lost WWI. To the victors go the spoils and the French and British split up the Middle east. England had Palestine. Israel won it's independence from Britian through a brutal war 1947- 1948.

So. If they're not a country, neither are we, or the Congo, or Ireland, Mexico, etcetcetcetc.

Hamas actually came out of Beirut, Lebanon. They worked up into Palestine.

VERY good point! The answer to that is an absolute and resounding yes. I tried to be somewhat more politically correct. That's especially the Kingdoms.

  12. by Donna on October 9, 2023 3:16 pm

I can tell by what you've written that you understand the situation, which is a rarity in the US.

  13. by oldedude on October 9, 2023 5:03 pm
If you didn't mean that in sarcasm (which I think is true) thank you.

I actually started looking at this in the 1970's, and of course was allowed to research (within the scope of my Security Clearance. The Israelis interested me from the Entebbe raid on. It came in handy on my 2d masters, and my work in operations centers later in my career.

There's a saying in Arabic that's thousands of years old and still holds true.
It is me against my brother
It is my brother and me against my cousin
and it can go on forever, but you understand the context.

Curt. This is why even if they're Shi'ite or Sunni also, they will look to each other to get things done. So you could see Hamas fight with Taliban (which is a little strange, but if you're after a paycheck, it's worth it). Most of the assholes here have been in Syria, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, and every other country that needs "freedom fighters." I simply call them animals. I've seen enough of what they do to call them that. This is the Children of the Corn on steroids. They will take a woman out of their house for not being presentable in public (they took her in her own home). Then turn around and gang rape a corpse. They say children are the future of the earth, bind them and murder them in front of their parents and siblings. One by one. We've had to clean up these messes. They place the bodies of the children on top of each other to show the order of them dying. And the teenage daughter? She's gone.

So everyone. Forgive me if I'm not real pleasant about talking about these piles of shit. I don't regard them as human. No human or dog would do this to another of their species. Baboons maybe, they'll kill infants then tear them apart in front of their mothers and eat them.

"This is what they do." I want them dead no matter what. Horribly if possible. And my definition of horrible after watching them? Things you should never see in your lifetime.

    So I'll apologize in advance.

  14. by Donna on October 9, 2023 5:12 pm

I wasn't being sarcastic, od. It's just so rare when I talk to someone who understands the situation. Thank you.

As much as I oppose the Netanyahoo regime and the rest of the hardliners, if I were living in one of those towns the Hamas militants attacked, I would have helped the IDF.

  15. by oldedude on October 9, 2023 6:14 pm
Thanks. I can usually tell how you write.

Bibi won't change. That's another given in global life. He was an underling with Ben Gurian during the fight for independence. The one thing this unprovoked attack did was to unite the Zionist State of Israel (all those words are important). Whatever your feelings, Israel is now a united country against these assholes. I don't think they'll rest until Beirut is rubble and Hamas is too ashamed to show its face for the next century (if we still exist).

  16. by Donna on October 9, 2023 6:29 pm

    I agree 100%.
