I don't care what anybody says. Trump's trials won't help his poll numbers.

And, oy, as po'd say, freakin vey!

Kelly's not a GOP but she is, politically, very conservative, probably more conservative than ol pb.

More to the point, she's an experienced journalist. In the two-hour program, she drew a very cogent telling of the story from Gary Shapley and Joseph Zeigler.

And, gang! pb's conclusion is that a head or two up the chain will roll.

pb understands that, back when "that feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap" still had a brain he'd established plausible deniability to protect himself. pb has no doubt that Clouseau can never be convicted of a crime for any of the bribery he benefited from, nor from the corruption he led and participated in.

But, he's President. He liable for impeachment.

My guess is that there's enough political ugliness to warrant official impeachment proceedings in the House and, as pb's been saying for about a month, a 50/50 shot that he'll be impeached by the House.

If you care about actual truth, watch the video at your leisure. With Kelly guiding the conversation, the two whistle-blowers tell a fascinating story and come across as men of integrity.

Kelly is as wingnutty as they come, peebs. She's the one who did the Heil Hitler salute at Bush's convention.

Be that as it may, facts are facts.

  3. by Indy! on July 20, 2023 4:08 pm

I didn't watch it because in your last one her stretched face creeped me out.

  4. by HatetheSwamp on July 21, 2023 3:52 am

    Yeah, well, I just listen.

The truth is that the whistle-blowers made powerful opening statements at the hearing. She used her skill as a journalist to empower their message.

The Bidens are in a world of trouble...and she made that obvious.

Lead- yes, ditto. Kelly is a lawyer and has never lost her touch to ask very relevant and probing questions of everyone under her purview. This is why if people are hiding stuff, they go to the softball artists. I haven't watched her for awhile, nor listened much to her podcasts. But I respect her. That is part of a handful of people on TV, much less of pundits.

  6. by HatetheSwamp on July 21, 2023 6:26 am

I follow the podcast on YouTube so I get notified about who the guests are.

Because she's a lawyer...who practiced law for a time...she's as good as any journalist on issues of crime and government, both of which are involved here. I'll be paying close attention to her while this whole Biden drama progresses.

Among the SS gang, you and I seem to care about gaining fact. po and Donna and Curt, especially isle seem only want to be preached to.

Peebs… about 2 million people (tops) are watching her show. You watch it every day so it feels like it’s making a huge impression - but it’s not. About half of one percentage point of Americans see it. The days of people talking about whatever Walter Cronkite said on the news last night because there were only 3 networks to watch are long gone. Megyn is not even a drop in the bucket - she’s half a drop.

  8. by HatetheSwamp on July 21, 2023 8:04 am

    You talking about Megyn Kelly?

I check out the podcast most days. I watch a whole podcast, perhaps, once every two weeks or so.

What I think makes Kelly important is that she's something like what Ed Sullivan was to pop culture in the 60s. Kelly's got that role in the conservosphere. She identifies trends and amplifies them.

Since Fox dumped Tucker, the popularity and influence of conservative podcasts has exploded. Kelly is fanning those flames... in part, because she's not a big fan of Fox.

Anyway, the Megyn Kelly podcast is important because she's a shaper of the conservative...and right-wing antiSwamp world.

If you want to know where the right-wing take on "that feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap" will be in a month?, check out what's happnin with Kelly today.

Well... they will be, once you actually present some.

But... my goodness. I hadn't realized that this issue had gotten all the way up to the level of importance of Megyn Kelly getting involved. Holy moley, this is worse than I imagined!!!

Wow! Mark this date down, Bill! I believe that this is actually the closest thing to an equitable comparison that you've ever made!!!

You're right! Just as Ed did, she has the job of presenting jugglers, acrobats, and contortionist acts, along with well rehearsed performances of song and dance routines to a targeted audience hungry for such entertainment!

    Bravo, Bill. Bravo!!!

I did a little research on podcast ratings and it looks pretty much as I suspected - most of them are lying about their numbers. Apparently the only way to get podcast numbers is to pay for them from the services that offer them (Apple, Spotify, etc...) and the numbers you get are not necessarily accurate because you're dealing with downloads of the podcast which doesn't necessarily translate into actual listeners. This is not unlike other forms of media that use their own hacks to pad their ratings, viewers, readers, whatever because that - of course - it what determines their value... ie: how many "eyeballs" are looking at them when the all important ads appear to try to sell something. Ok? Got all that.

Okay - now here is what I actually found. A couple of recent articles that say Megyn Kelly is the number one conservative podcaster. Okay - rather that question it - let's just accept it as fact. However - the actual numbers are still quite murky (on purpose, of course). I could not find any tangible numbers for THIS year - however I did find some for LAST year (see link). Last year Ben Shapiro was #1 and all it took to get him there was a mere 500K "subscribers" and he had grown 15% from 2021 to 2022. So - a bit of murky (but logical math...)

Let's say Ben continued to grow at 15% from 2022 to 2023...

    500K x 1.15 = 575K subscribers

Megyn is #1 though now - so what does she have? Let's go absolutel crazy and say she's SUPER popular like you believe, peebs - let's DOUBLE Ben's number...

    575K x 2 = 1,150,000 subscribers.

A quick google search says there are 331M people in America right now...
A similar search says 36% are conservatives - that's 119M (a VERY generous ball park considering the 331M includes kids, babies, etc)

    1.15M / 119M = .0096 - round it up to .01 which means...

1% of CONSERVATIVES listen to Megyn
Got that? That's how "influential" she actually is, peebs. Just for funsies - let's do Ed Sullivan.

    More quick google searches...

Ed Sullivan's audience numbers (see graphic) - 40M

America's population 1960 (right in the middle of Ed's TV run) - 179M

    40 / 179 = 22% of ALL AMERICANS watched Ed.

The thing about Kelly is that she's got the prime time slot on SXM channel 111, which is the hot talk show channel.

She was a headliner at last week's Turning Point USA Action Conference.

She's changing the way under 40s on the right get their news...and, well, propaganda.

You know, d@ng well, Indy!, that cable news is dying. I think you're underestimating how important Kelly is as an innovator in the world of right-wing alternative news and commentary.

  12. by Indy! on July 22, 2023 11:53 am

Peebs, all you have to do is read what you wrote to know she's barely a gnat in the world of media... "SXM channel 111"? Sounds like she's broadcasting from another planet.

If you wanna know how the GOPs'll be hanging the Dobbering Old Fart from the highest DC tree about the time Trump starts his first trial in 024, pay attention to Meg.

I left the faux outrage cycle long ago. Fake trials and pretend "walls closing in" are a waste of time. Nobody's getting impeached - nobody's going to jail. It's all just designed to divide and conquer and provide cover for the real crimes like wage theft, the healthcare industry and perpetual war for profit. I refuse to be a cog in the machine anymore.

Of course. But, c'mon man, gimme a break. This is how both wings of the Uniparty distract SwampLovers from realizing that they don't do a d@ng thing. It's equivalent to watching sports. These days it's what?, the World Cup or congressional hearings. I'm happy to watch the Clowns in DC.

    Nice mathematical analysis there, Indy.
