    According to Wikipedia:

    "To keep the station on the air, WYAH produced a special telethon edition of the show. For the telethon, Robertson set a goal of 70 members each contributing $10 per month (equivalent to $97 in 2022), which was enough to support the station. Robertson referred to these members as the "700 Club" and the name stuck."

    If Schaeffer and I are haters, then so is Jesus, because he taught us to be intolerant towards religious charlatans.

    Donna,

    The books of Francis Schaeffer were all the rage when I was in seminary. I read them all. Schaeffer was bright and insightful but he was a leader among "snooty" evangelicals...People who thought thinking like an evangelical was the best answer to every philosophical question but couldn't be understood...and didn't care to be understood...by anyone with less than a college degree.

    Frankie may disagree with dad on the philosophical questions but, clearly, he's just as snooty as good ol dad. It's the snootiness which, I think, has you calling Robertson and Dobson, et.al., charlatans. You can have all the snoot Frankie and you want.
