USA v Iran.

The USA score in the 37th minute on a goal by its only quality player, Christian Pulisic who, incidentally, grew up about 30 minutes down the road in Hershey.

Pulisic was injured on the goal and left the match. The team continued a player down until he returned late in the half.

    The US scored a second goal 5 minutes into extra time. The goal was ruled offside. pb thinks it was a good call.

    Team USA dominated the first half but, with only a one goal lead, anything can happen.

    Shots in the first half: 8-0 USA.

    Pulisic didn’t come out of the locker room for the second half. That is a MAJOR loss for our guys.

    Iran advances with a tie so it was playing defensively in the first half. With the US up a goal, Iran is playing very aggressively in the second half. Very competitive. Intense.

    The USA won: 1-Nil. Amazing! No Christian Pulisic in the second half! Iran had some great chances late. USA goalkeeper Matt Turner played three great matches, allowing only a penalty kick to Wales.

    Iran played defensively in the first half. The USA played defensively for about the last 30 minutes.

    What an, as po'd say, effin amazing match!

    Now it's Netherlands in the Knock Out Round.

    No one expects the US to win the Cup but not making it to the Knock Out Round would have been a loss.
