Back in the day, I remember an exchange on the TV classic, CHEERS, in which Diane pointed out, mockingly, that Sam had to said something that included three consecutive prepositions.
Since then, I've tried, from time to time, in speech or writing, to express myself with three prepositions in a row. I've never done it, consciously, anyway.
So, today, a long-time radio sports talker announced in Philadelphia announced that this was his last show and he said this:
"I think today is just time to get up on out of here."
FOUR! "up on out of!"
This is trivial, meaningless. But, oy! Four effin prepositions in a row!
