WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Trump administration has terminated temporary deportation protections for thousands of Afghans and Cameroonians in the U.S., a U.S. Department of Homeland Security spokesperson said on Friday, building on Trump's far-reaching immigration crackdown.
An estimated 14,600 Afghans eligible for Temporary Protected Status will now lose it in May. Some 7,900 Cameroonians had access to the status but will lose it in June under the termination.
How often did we hear from faux outraged Trump-world that Biden abandoned the Afghanis? I suspect that Trump's betrayal will go without criticism by our resident Republicans and on FOX News.

We were pi$$ed that Joe and the string-pullers allowed our Afghan allies to be trapped in Afghanistan and to be slaughtered by the Taliban while flying thousands of unvetted Afghanis out of the country.
Surely you remember that. It was when "that feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap's" approval tanked, never to recover.
We were demanding that Joe do this from the beginning!
by Curt_Anderson on April 11, 2025 5:57 pm You were demanding that Biden end protective status for Afghans?!?!
These Afghans have been here for three years or so. Even if they were not vetted (but they were vetted), they haven't been terrorizing Americans or creating a crime wave.
Afghans evacuated to the U.S. have undergone a vetting process. Afghans who come to the U.S. are reviewed by the State Department, Department of Homeland Security, and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. They undergo several in-person interviews, and their biometrics are checked against government databases. oig.dhs.gov
by oldedude on April 11, 2025 6:48 pm Honestly, this is because pedojoe allowed "everyone" in from Afghanistan. If you actually have the capability to say that correctly, you can speak. if not? STFU, you can't buy a fucking clue about the problems there and have no vote in this. you're just a new fucking armchair "cornerback" in a huge global goat fuck.
curt is the biggest to blame for the murdering in Afghanistan. He supported pedojoe in the complete goatfuck, and continued to support pedojoe into rejecting those who have given their lives and their families lives (who are now mostly murdered because of the American Government). All the others of you? you're accessories to murder of your best friend.
Honestly: FUCK YOU. These had information of people that were resisting the Sharia law that will be used to murder you. Do you actually understand that? I think you don't have or be able to buy a fucking clue that they will gleefully murder you first.
That's up to you. If you want to understand WTF is going on? read and know. You are the least of all of "Islams" "desired cultists of the world." Meaning they will kill you in horrible fashion for fun by throwing donna off a building first, then throwing po (after watching donna) to be covered with a hood to be thrown off another building. If you want to watch each other's brains splatter, that's fine. not my thing to watch either of you. Yet, I'm not ready to give my life for you. I've got my own shit to deal with. bing.com

"You were demanding that Biden end protective status for Afghans?!?!"
Not exactly.
I was saying that these people be vetted. There was no reason for the people in that mob to be admitted into the US.
Foreigners don't have a right to be here. It was only your "feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap's" string-pullers' incompetence that got them here in the first place.
Ole pb has no problem with what Trump is doing with them.
"Afghans evacuated to the U.S. have undergone a vetting process. Afghans who come to the U.S. are reviewed by the State Department, Department of Homeland Security, and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services."
Yeah... by the Former Truck Driver's gang. Voters handed DC to Trump and the GOPs precisely over issues similar to the Afghanistan debacle.

Is that like the faux outrage over terrorists, murderers, and rapists not getting "due process?" Or when trumpster does anything you can turn into a fictitious "assault on our democracy?"
This pisses me off more than a little. And those in the planning stages were equally dismayed and pissed at pedojoe. Not only did he not listen to his staff, he forced the state department and the military get completely out of their lanes to do a mission that was specifically not theirs.
State dept doesn't have the aircraft to do any airlift in that country. They are good at doing small, team extractions of their own people.
The Pentagon can do small extractions, and have access to several hundred rotary wing, and several hundred cargo aircraft that can be configured to hold a lot of people. C17's, C5's, C141's all have that capability. They have direct access to Chinook helicopters that can hold 36 (far less than the aircraft, but could be used for extractions).
pedojoe couldn't have gotten it more wrong. Even Retired Gen. Mark Milley and Gen. Kenneth McKenzie called it a "strategic Failure." The two retired generals’ uncommon testimony made the tension and disagreements the military brass had with the Biden administration during the last stages of the war public for the first time. Two of those major disagreements were that the State Department was not moving quickly enough to begin an evacuation, and the military had suggested that the US keep at least 2,500 service troops in Afghanistan to ensure stability and not lose the SATCOM we had in the area. But pedojoe insisted on the goatfuck anyway.
State dept couldn't keep up with the number of Afghans to begin with. The military had a small force to attempt to keep control of the airbase. Approximately 124,000 Afghan citizens were evacuated from Kabul, Afghanistan, during the evacuation operation. Which means they don't really know how many actually were evacuated, or their names, etc. Considering the Taliban had the city and were acting as "security" for the base, there is no way we know who was actually on those aircraft. THAT is the problem. pedojoe can't listen to anyone that actually knows WTF they have the ability to do.
So we're back to the old thing with immigration. I support immigration. They have to be vetted through the state department. That's their fucking job. And they're pretty good at it. The cluster is through the laws and courts that take a legal specialist to understand. You don't believe that any immigrant needs to come through legally. Regardless of who they are. bbc.com firstpost.com af.mil
by meagain on April 12, 2025 2:41 pm If these Afghans are deported, it will be aiding and abetting wholesale murder. They will be killed by the Taliban.
by oldedude on April 12, 2025 3:12 pm And............?
My bet is that at least 15% of those ~124,000 are Taliban. Some have said it's more like 30% or more. Some have been vetted by state dept working with veterans who had the Afghans as terps. So they're covered. Some are actually doing the right thing and have started the process of becoming citizens. Americans should be covered. Other countries "may" be covered by just getting back to their home country (there are a few canadians, brits, etc). I agree that's only about 10-15%.
My question to you is, Would you deport them? or risk another 9/11 in Ottawa? Just a question. Because that's what you're risking. And it's a tough decision. Maybe another country would take them. I don't know "the" answer. I have "an" answer, but you're screwed either way. And my bet is that the Taliban in country will go dark really fast. Canada can have them, I don't care.
by Indy! on April 12, 2025 3:20 pm The Afghanistan war was a money grab - nothing more. We didn't care about "Afghani women" or the Taliban (shit - we re-armed them with BETTER weapons on purpose) or turning that shithole into a Jeffersonian Democracy. It was another money grab by the MIC and Dick Cheney's companies.
END.
OF.
STORY.
So quit acting like you care. None of you do.
by meagain on April 12, 2025 4:21 pm Afghanistan was a progressive democracy before the Taliban took over. It is just an exaggerated version of what is happening in America now where MAGA is taking over and shredding democracy.
We owe it to the country to help restore democracy since it was America that enabled the Taliban takeover - with the aid of a few NATO countries.
by oldedude on April 12, 2025 5:51 pm I think there was a "hint" at best of some form of third world democracy. The Taliban have been there since the Russians, and before with different names. They murdered Ahmad Shah Massoud who may have gotten them on a road to democracy. As much as Afghanistan can. As far as anyone else, it's been a sheep show of tribal leaders fighting among each other and then coming together against whomever is against them. They're also some of the most crooked countries I've ever been to. Their justice was interesting. If you got in a car accident, the victim got to beat the offender until the police thought is was sufficient for the crime. God forbid you kill someone or an animal. You might catch 40 stones (meaning the victim's family and friends get stone you with 40 stones after the butt kicking you got. And yes, most villages had beheading trees. Trees that were downed and have a place to put your neck. Then they'd use some rusty knife in a sawing motion on your neck. Pretty bad way to die.
I do think there was a group that really appreciated the US being there. We did lots of hearts and minds things. Girls got to go to school, the Lionesses which should have been better equipped, water purification on their wells since the Russians threw Cyanide down them. Obviously, we're not keeping those maintained.
Had we not left on the "skids of helicopters again" like Putin said, I'd be pretty okay with leaving them with some sort of a country left. That didn't happen, and we don't know who's in our borders that are trained terrorists and bomb makers.
by meagain on April 12, 2025 7:17 pm Between 1963 and 1973 Afghanistan had become a progressive democracy but the West did not help, was not interested. The USA hardly knew it was there. A coup disposed of that regime, which led to the USSR's invasion several years later and the US supporting the Mujahadin. The Taliban, in effect. The West created a Taliban theocracy with its policies that were all about the Cold War, ignoring the client state's interests.
by oldedude on April 12, 2025 8:03 pm Yeah. Still not interested in going back for any reason. Send in canada if you want.
