In the Democrats’ looming civil war, one side is already doomed

In the last few days we’ve more and more of the sound of the opening salvos of a Democratic Party civil war. This of course, is after losing two of the last three presidential elections to Donald Trump, self-reflection is sorely needed — and some are at least feigning an interest in such an effort.

Prior to this presidential election found that 47% of likely voters believed Harris was “too liberal or progressive,” while just 6% said she wasn’t “liberal or progressive enough.” A new survey released by Echelon Insights this month revealed that 42% of Democrats think the party should move “to the center” — and only 20% want it to move “to the left.” So regardless of what our libtards say about things are not liberal enough and want to burn cities down and murder people in the streets, although it may be their "bubble" that believes that blather, 80% of the US won't vote that way. And what's interesting is dim "leadership" (yes, that is an oxymoron) is warning their own party to disregard the 20% so they can win an election.

Even Newsom is sniping at the progressive shibboleths. In the last few days we’ve heard what sound like the opening salvos of a Democratic Party civil war. And Chucky Schumer rejected calls from his left flank to shut down the federal government instead than let a Republican-backed funding bill pass he once staunchly supported so proudly.

I for one, am very happy the libtards can't figure this one out. All the GOP has to do, is to keep playing the commercials over and over again. Voters won't know if it's new or not, because the dims still hate everyone not like them.

    OD,

You raise the question of this moment in US politics.

I've been thinking about starting a thread raising the question, who will win out, po's Dems, or pbDems. I'll post it here.

There are, as po might say, EFFINmillions of people who are, say, 50ish+ who used to be Dems or who still are Dems who've not bothered to re-register but stopped voting Dem a long time ago because the TQ social progressive,... po... wing of the party took over, i.e., the pbDems. And, under 30 voters swung GOP in 024.

GOPs OWN DC today because "Kamala is for they/them. Donald Trump is for you." No pbDem will ever vote for that. Ever. Neither will many under 30 men, or young pro-life women.

And, now, it's the Donna, po,... Bernie, AOC wing of the party that's leading the fight for party control. Tell me, who... if you know... is a Dem in the Kennedy, Carter, Clinton,... h€ck, Manchin, Sinema, Fetterman wing of the party who has a chance to lead the Dems in 025?

Note: Kennedy and Carter are dead. Clinton, whose politics were powerful, but he's been #metoo-ed out of relevancy. The pos excommunicated Sinema and Manchin. And, Fetterman is a side-show.

If the pos and Donnas and Bernies and AOCs dominate, we're in for a generation of GOP dominance.

    IMO.

I honestly don't think there's any leader in the dims that will help them get at least one prong of our political trident back. I think that's why trumpster is moving so fast. He's got two years to keep the TPSers on the losing end. The other part of this is he'll have two years after that to groom his replacement. It has to be someone younger, that will do work FOR Americans. Not just the 20% that are marxists, maoists, and Alinskyites.

So the answer is that it's early in the game, we'll see after the next election who comes forward and go from there. If it isn't a TPSer, the GOP has a fight on their hands. If it's a wolf in sheep's clothing, we'll just have another pedojoe. Corrupt and supporting the 20% of American voters.

As you've noticed, I do a lot of "wait and see." Especially with the law and politics (especially international politics). The reason is that people are people. I may change my mind as these time goes on. Things change. That's to be expected. I was expecting a close win to the GOP that put trumpster in. Like you, it was the lessor of the two weevils. And a lot of voters agreed with us.

One possibility I ignored is that a DJT figure will emerge and reshape the Dems and, ultimately, the American political landscape.

Imagining who that'd be and his/her agenda is difficult. In early 015, could po's most horrific nightmare have conjured up Mr Tangerine Man!!!!!? Bahaha.

The GOPs advantage is that the Dems have a smoke-filled room and millions of locksteppers. EFFINmillions.

To move to the centre, the Democrats would have to become Republicans and many millions of immigrants from progressive countries arrive to give America a left wing that it does not have. You don't have a progressive left wing other than Bernie Sanders. You would then have a spectrum from Trumpsters to a New Left peopled mostly by immigrants with Democrats in the middle.

I disagree. Those immigrants I've talked to, came here to work hard and to make life better for their children. Many times I'll hear them say they love their country, but hate the government. Especially from those "progressive" countries like Colombia, Nicaragua, and other central America, and Mexico. They can't get jobs, they're lied to by their leadership, and they don't have the power to change it without being thrown into some prison and never seen again.

You don't have a progressive left wing other than Bernie Sanders. You would then have a spectrum from Trumpsters to a New Left peopled mostly by immigrants with Democrats in the middle.
Again, You're "ASSuming" about immigrants something that isn't true.

"To move to the centre, the Democrats would have to become Republicans..."

    meagain,

Do you honestly believe that there's no significant middle ground between, say, Chuckyou Schumer or Adam Schiff and AOC, and MAGA? Really?

If you're right, MAGA GOPs are going to be on a looooooooong winning streak,... IMO.

Remember, if it isn't "his thinking" it's nothing."

so there is that. And there's the "why do you give anything up in a "negotiation" other answer. Both of these are just stupid questions in negotiations.

I couldn't disagree more, but maybe if the progressive wing is ascendant, maybe us center-lefters should step aside and let Bernie and AOC lose the next election 58-42, which is what will happen if someone like that gets the nomination. The Squad all comes from districts that lean blue by a 30 point-margin. They wouldn't have a clue how to win a swing state.

We lost the last election for two reasons, because of inflation and culture issues. Food and gas are too damn expensive and Kamala is for they/them, Trump is for you.

What's really a shame here is Democrats don't really have to move to the center. They just have to distance themselves from the crazy shit on the left fringe, like paying to give prisoners sex change operations, reparations for Blacks, defunding the police, allowing men to play in women's sports, insisting that we say Latinx when nobody even uses the term. DEI is a nice idea, but in practice it's an inefficient incoherent mess. We don't have to move right. We just need to abandon the crazy knee-jerk woke liberal elite BS.

And you're just plain wrong that the left wing of this country is the immigrant class. Most immigrants want to start businesses, get rich, buy a Lexus and become a Republican. They're culturally conservative. Every ethnic group that used to be a core Democratic voter bloc has moved Red, that goes for the Irish, the Catholics, and the Latinos are on their way. They don't want open borders. The ones who got here legally don't want the guilt by association of illegals from their own ethnic group. More Blacks voted for Trump than for any Republican presidential candidate in the last 60 years.

Here's how you can tell we (Democrats) are really screwed -- The U.S. Senate. 100 seats. You need 51 (or 50 and a veep) to pass anything. Two senators from a state. There used to be a time when red states would elect a Democratic senator. Not anymore. All of the blue dogs have been chased out of the party by leftists who demand a purity test. AOC and Bernie helped chase Manchin out of the party and out of the Senate. Dumb move. Blue states still elect Republicans. So when more states lean Red than Blue, how do we ever win back the Senate? These states are not going to turn blue by nominating someone with AOC and Bernie's stamp of approval. The Democrats can only win by nominating people who can appeal to more conservative voters. If we don't move to the center, we have to at least amputate the crazy shit so we at least appear more moderate and reasonable.

  9. by HatetheSwamp on April 12, 2025 3:55 am

    Exactly, Rob3rt.

The Dingbat lost to Trump in 024 because they lost white women and lost serious ground to Latinos and black males over the progressive Swampcult "Kamala Harris is for they/them" issue.

GOPs won almost all moderate and independent common sense voters over that.

Do you honestly believe that there's no significant middle ground between, say, Chuckyou Schumer or Adam Schiff and AOC, and MAGA? Really?

What makes you think that is a rebuttal? Parties have policies, not individuals.

Sanders and AOC speak for a progressive element. Their ideas are not Party policy.

  11. by meagain on April 12, 2025 2:59 pm
I am not going into a detailed rebuttal, Robert, but you are wrong. Immigrants split down the middle recently. In the past, they leaned Liberal. Part of that lies in the Republican antipathy to immigration and part in that the majority in the past came from socially progressive countries. Some of that is in the link.

Also, the great majority of the world's countries above the Third World, all follow DEI. It varies in degree with cultural norms but in all major democracies, DEI is deeply rooted. They don't even talk about it. It just is in the DNA.

The Democrats ARE the Republicans now. The Repubs are far right nutcases. The left - the REAL left needs to organize and get their nessage out. Not this kente cloth-wearing, Black Lives Matter enough to paint it on the street somewhere for a couple weeks nonsense the Reoublicans Democrats pretend is "progressive." The ONLY reason Ds ever win is because the Rs push the envelope to far right for even the Reoublicans Democrats' taste and they pick up a few mealy mouth fake "progressives" who don't have the balls for the Acceleration Theory and a weak loser like Obama or Biden gets elected and accomplishes absolutely nothing of import while the Rs line up the next onerous POS who will knock them off in 4 years because the Ds are not progressive or helping average Americans in any way at all. They just know their pronouns.
