by oldedude on March 16, 2025 12:05 pm Well, if you knew anything about the gold rush towns, especially of the pre 1900 era, you would know that ALL of them had brothels (PLURAL), gambling joints, bars, at least one doctor, a barber/ dentist, a mercantile, and restaurants. For an area where the male: female (minus doves) was about 50-75:1, that makes sense. Some of the towns (Tombstone, Cripple Creek, Victor, Silver City) were actually known for their Doves more than almost anything else. It was also the era of cattle drives (in the western US), so you get the punchers (in the American territories) they'd have some whites, a lot of Mexicans, and some of the former Buffalo Soldiers (Black Cowboys).
