Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency has deleted hundreds more claims from its mistake-plagued “wall of receipts,” erasing $4 billion in additional savings that the group said it had made for U.S. taxpayers.

Late Sunday night, the group erased or altered more than 1,000 contracts it had claimed to cancel, representing more than 40 percent of all the contracts listed on its site last week. The deleted items included five of the seven largest savings that it had claimed credit for just last week. At the same time, the group added about 1,000 additional canceled contracts, worth smaller total savings.

It was the second time in a week that DOGE had deleted some of its greatest claims of success. Early last week, it erased all five of the largest savings it had claimed when the wall of receipts, which is what the group is calling its list of canceled contracts, was originally posted on Feb. 19.

    NYT. Your Holy Trinity.

It's almost as you oppose Trump's efforts to eliminate fraud and waste in the Swamp. And, celebrate the dysfunction and corrupt of the Swamp.

No doubt, DOGE blunders from time to time but Trump told the truth when he campaigned on draining the Swamp. "Promises made. Promises kept."

    Trump speaks truth.

Ole pb's sense is that voters support the effort to eliminate the abuse of taxpayers' money, even if it's not being executed with perfection.

You hire a pest control guy to rid your house of termites.

He shows up with a flamethrower and starts going at your house with it, engulfing it in flames almost instantly.

Panic stricken, you scream at him to stop what he's doing.

He looks at you puzzled and says, "What...? So you oppose my efforts to get rid of your termites? You're in favor of your house being full of them?"

    po,

You may be believing your metaphorical Rachel too blindly. But, with moderate and independent common sense voters, Trump's trying it and that matters.

    Trump's bullshitting and you're swallowing.

I know both the times and you meant this as a slam towards DOGE.

I, for one am happy they have found things that when they looked at the spending, they decided that not everything was wasted money. That maybe these agencies, and congress are putting money into good programs that need to be financed. I was getting worried DOGE would just be throwing "everything" away.

I think that saving money where is should be saved, and continuing money that is smart shows credibility to the project. They got rid of the $18 MIL/month to a place that was effectively closed and only had a handful of employees. That is a waste of money, and the contract was awarded illegally.

I would like to see DOGE continued in some respects. The teachers Union going to Vegas during COVID when they won't take kids in schools (because it's "unsafe" IS a problem. My point is there isn't any accountability for the money given to agencies.

    Anyway, thanks for the post.
