A Morning Consult survey conducted after President Joe Biden ended his re-election campaign found that 65% of Democratic voters support Harris to lead the party’s ticket, more than double the level of support she had in a hypothetical look at the same question late last month following the first presidential debate.

Former President Donald Trump leads Harris by 2 percentage points, 47% to 45%, in our survey conducted after Biden announced his decision to step aside, marking an improvement from the 6-point margin Biden faced in our surveys conducted ahead of his exit from the race.

Polls this soon after the "dithering and diminished" one was couped don't say much that will ultimately matter but pb's a tad surprised that Trump actually led in the poll.

The dynamics of the race are different with Scranton Joe replaced by a whacky California woke progressive. No doubt.

Isn't that great, Curt? And her numbers are only going to keep getting bigger and the gap between her and Felonious Trump will only continue to widen as time goes by.

I haven't felt this much excitement and motivation from the Democratic Party since the early Obama days. People are getting so pumped! Trump is dead meat.

    KAMALA CAN DO IT!

Enjoy it while you have it, po.

I just can't see America electing a blatant Israel hater.

    Her first boner:

Kamala Harris won't preside over Netanyahu's speech to Congress as he looks to shore up U.S. support

I know that doesn't bother you lot, but...

They are gonna love her in Michigan for that. The biggest issue a great many young people, progressives, and liberal Dems had against Biden was his kowtowing to Israel over the Gaza genocide. Tipping her hand that she's not going to be quite as obsequious towards Bibi as Biden was is a plus for Harris.

And of course she doesn't hate Israel anyways. Straw man. Valiant effort though.

    po,

Being a Pennsylvanian as I am, it occurred to me a while back that Pennsylvania is the anti-Michigan, or, vice versa. There's a very decent sized Jewish population in Pennsylvania, especially in the Philadelphia area.

    Kamala dissing Israel's Prime Minister!

Oy freakin friggin EFFINvey, man! And, unnecessarily, crapping on every American Jew... and all supporters of Israel, and there are many among moderate and independent common sense voters.

It's the unnecessarily part that's noteworthy.

Her political IQ seems suspect from where I'm sitting.

She just gained practically nuthin and, potentially, lost tons.

  6. by Ponderer on July 23, 2024 10:36 am

You run with that, Bill. I can tell how happy it makes you to think all that.

  7. by HatetheSwamp on July 23, 2024 10:40 am

I will, po, but only since I have your blessing.

But, po. Do you think it's a political winner for Kammy to diss our closest ally in the Middle East?

  8. by Ponderer on July 23, 2024 10:48 am

I by no means think that it's a preeminent concern or a deal killer at all. More people have been upset about the way we've handled the Gaza situation than want us to be the lapdogs of Israel.

Slavishly doing the bidding of Netanyahu is not the prime motivating factor for the bulk of the citizens of this country I'd warrant. As much as it serves your narrative to gaslight it as such.

  9. by Donna on July 23, 2024 10:53 am

Criticizing the right-wing government of Israel's polucies isn't dissing Israel. That's exactly like saying that criticizing Trump's policies, or even Biden's, is dissing America. Ever read anything from Israel's press? They're actually more critical of Netanyahu's policies than the US press.

Pondy: The biggest issue a great many young people, progressives, and liberal Dems had against Biden was his kowtowing to Israel over the Gaza genocide.

It goes far deeper than that. They're tired of Israel's games altogether - long before Gaza. Kamala showing Netanyahoo her hand is a good start to putting them in their place.

  11. by Ponderer on July 23, 2024 11:05 am

I agree, Indy!. It's kind of a No more free lunches message as I take it.

And it's a long time coming.

But who knows. Once she's in office, she might line up behind everything Israel wants her to do like every single other American president has since Israel's inception as a nation.

But at least she won't give Bibi the blank check to press his genocide against Palestinians in the Occupied Territories even farther, as Trump certainly will.

  12. by Indy! on July 23, 2024 11:09 am

She's going to give them whatever they want like every president. That is the problem in a nutshell. The answer is simple. When Netanyahoo shows up, simply tell him he needs to end the genocide now if he ever wants another dime or another gun from the U.S.

  13. by HatetheSwamp on July 23, 2024 11:11 am

    Criticizing the right-wing government...

I'm certain that you are wrong. Embarrassing the Prime Minister of any country is an attack on the whole nation.

And, to gain what? That's the thing. Kammy could have sat in her chair and listened to an audio book, smiled at Bibi and walked away without drawing any negative attention to herself.

As far as I can tell, she handed Trump another issue... and gave him inroads to a new set of donors.

I know your position on Gaza. Fine. But, this is political folly. Kammy doesn't have many more of these mistakes, especially early on as she creates a presence among voters.

  14. by Ponderer on July 23, 2024 12:11 pm

You got it, Indy!. She's the one to get that across to him. Before most likely going right back after she wins the election to the status quo, as anyone in the position of president has and probably will always be.

Trump may well wipe his ass with all the treaties with our allies like France and England, Germany, Poland and others before he abandons them to their fates if he wins the election. But even he wouldn't abandon Israel. It's like Israel and America are conjoined and share a kidney.

  15. by Indy! on July 23, 2024 1:36 pm

Exactly. And PB's response exposes his political ignorance. You don't tell that to Netanyahoo in front of the cameras - you tell him in private.... obviously. 🙄
