Sorry, OD. You beat me to the punch. I checked for a post before I started to put mine together.

    You are our ace reporter.

Not much in the way of news on this. The announcement was short and to the point, so there's lots of room for hearsays...

Biden's decision follows weeks of mounting pressure from within his own party and from key Democratic donors urging him to step aside for the sake of the party's future. This announcement marks a significant shift in the political landscape as the Democratic Party must now quickly organize to select a new nominee before August 7.

"It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as your President. And while it has been my intention to seek reelection, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term," Biden said in a statement posted on social media.

"I will speak to the Nation later this week in more detail about my decision."

The dims are already getting defensive about about joe saying the only way he would leave was if a doctor told him to. IF that's true, how can he stay in?

If it's not true, what happened (my guess is that we'll never know).

As the article said, he doesn't go in to a successor. mmmmmmm.... So again, if they ditch kammy, they could lose a lot in their party. Not that I think kammy could win, but it's a matter of doing what's right vs winning. The classic long term v. short term goals.

How does it affect me? it's a tad interesting, but that's all.

I'm sure that he's promising, behind the scenes, that he won't pardon Hunter until after the election.

    Try again...

    He's supporting Kamala.

And my bet is they'll screw over kamala.

I kind of hope they do. Not because I hate kammy that much, but because I don't think the dims have any sort of desire to do the right thing and keep the minority voters with them.
