I've heard of him, but that's about it. Actually it doesn't matter who Trump picked, right?

  2. by HatetheSwamp on July 15, 2024 12:33 pm

He wrote the book, HILLBILLY ELEGY. Awesome and very readable. There was a Netflix movie version, not beloved on ROTTEN TOMATOES.

He's pretty straightforwardly MAGA and very, very bright. He's good Veep material. I don't think he'd be a good President on his own right.

  3. by Indy! on July 15, 2024 1:15 pm

    Another scared Rabbit...

Donald Trump Jr. has advocated for Vance, who was a fierce Trump critic in 2016 but has since become a fierce ally of the former president.

Dude kissed the ring to get the nod. Worthless and weak - almost as comical as anyone believing Rubio actually had a chance after suggesting Trump had a shortage issue in the manhood department.

  4. by Donna on July 15, 2024 2:30 pm

Yep, just another garden variety Republican who sold his soul to get on the good side of the fuhrer.

Yep, just another garden variety Republican who sold his soul to get on the good side of the fuhrer.

    Fuhrer.

    Donna,

Were you watching the news on Saturday?

  6. by Donna on July 16, 2024 8:16 am

J.D. Vance once called Donald Trump "America's Hitler" before he was assimilated into the MAGA Borg.

  7. by HatetheSwamp on July 16, 2024 8:19 am

    Vance repented, Donna.

Read Vance's book. It's poignant. You'll like him.

  8. by Indy! on July 16, 2024 11:15 am

Not everyone is a MAGA Trumper like you, peebs. If any of us read the book - it would not be so we could be cheerleaders hoping our enthusistic promotion of Vance's book would lead to us ALSO getting to kiss the Fuhrer's ring like you want.

  9. by Donna on July 16, 2024 12:53 pm

Calling Trump "America's Hitler" was a very strong ibductment of him, no? And then he turned around and did a 180, in spades. You don't suspect that Vance sold out to get on the good side of Anerica's future dictator? You don't see You're really that naive?

  10. by HatetheSwamp on July 16, 2024 1:12 pm

Like many GOPs, Vance was impressed by how effective Trump was as a President.

In truth, for Vance, it was seeking Trump's endorsement in his race for Senate in Ohio that was the turning point.

  11. by Indy! on July 16, 2024 1:21 pm

How "effective" he was? He blew everything except the Clown picks (which he obviously did not make) and the perfunctory tax cut for the super wealthy that every president does. Whatever legislation he did pass (outside of that) was overshadowed by the bad stuff (in no particular order)...

    1) Totally muffing covid
    2) Charlottesville
    3) Jan 6
    4) Destroying our relationships with every country in the world except Russia (because he can't make his master Putin mad)
    5) Extending the Afghanistan war another 4 years

    Yada...

  12. by HatetheSwamp on July 16, 2024 1:44 pm

    Indy!,

Let me start off with two words. I support Biden. I support Biden.

Having said that, Charlottesville is a lie. Even Liz Cheney's J6 Committee Show Trial couldn't lay a glove on Trump.

And,... Trump reduced government regulation resulting in low fuel prices across the world.

You wanna know why Putin didn't attack Ukraine during Trump? Trump got oil prices so low, Putin couldn't pay for a war. That's how he'll end the war. Same with Iran and Israel.

And, Trump had inflation below 1.5%.

    He stabilized illegal immigration.

That's why most non MAGA GOPs now love Trump.

Did he screw up COVID? D@ng straight!
Was he great on international affairs? Noop.

But, it's easy to understand that people like Vance,... heck, most GOPs are now true believers.

  13. by oldedude on July 16, 2024 2:36 pm
JD definitely isn't my first choice. But it's not my choice to make so there's that.

I agree with you Cliff Notes on trumpster.

He used the Constitution the way it should have been with COVID. The Feds make things available. Some governors abused that system (Cuomo with respirators), AND he absolutely trusted the wrong guy to lay out the plans (that was his screw up). Gas prices were excellent, which means grocery prices were down. Putin didn't move on Ukraine. Illegal immigration was much better. One stroke of genius was the DACA EO. By ending the EO, he thought he could get congress to develop a plan. Of course they couldn't/ wouldn't, but he set them up to do that.

He also did a good job with inner city industrial ed and jobs. He brought back community colleges that were set up for the community. Tech jobs in medical fields, manufacturing, etc.

The one thing with international, was that he got NATO to actually fess up what they agreed to. The other thing was if there was retaliation? It hit the right people.

Let me start off with two words. I support Biden. I support Biden.

Let me start off with two... No you don't, No you don't.

Having said that, Charlottesville is a lie.

"There are good people on both sides.... both sides!" Nope. There weren't. On one side were real Americans - on the other racist bigots. Trump - being a bigot himself - defended the shit stains of the earth.

Even Liz Cheney's J6 Committee Show Trial couldn't lay a glove on Trump.

No R is going to try to bring down Trump. You are so easily duped - her committee was a stall tactic to pretend like something was happening.

And,... Trump reduced government regulation resulting in low fuel prices across the world.

Trump - like every president - had nothing to do with gas prices. The oil companies get better party favors from the Rs, so they purposely raise or lower their prices to help MAGAts get elected.

You wanna know why Putin didn't attack Ukraine during Trump? Trump got oil prices so low, Putin couldn't pay for a war. That's how he'll end the war. Same with Iran and Israel.

You have got to turn off Fox.

And, Trump had inflation below 1.5%.

You mean Obama. Trump road Barack's coattails on that one.

    He stabilized illegal immigration.

ROFLMFAO!!!! Sure. And he also brought peace to the Middle East and helped design the next space shuttle.

That's why most non MAGA GOPs now love Trump.

Nope. They ALL love him for the same reason you do. Because he's a dirtbag of the highest order who is not afraid to wear his racism on his sleeve.

But, it's easy to understand that people like Vance,... heck, most GOPs are now true believers.

Yes - because Trump owns the GOP and the party can't do anything about it. Vance - like everyone else in Foxworld (except Tulsi) - bow to your orange monkey king to get ahead in his party.

    Indy!,

    From EFFIN Snopes:

"No, Trump Did Not Call Neo-Nazis and White Supremacists 'Very Fine People'

In a news conference after the rally protesting the planned removal of a Confederate statue, Trump did say there were "very fine people on both sides," referring to the protesters and the counterprotesters. He said in the same statement he wasn't talking about neo-Nazis and white nationalists, who he said should be "condemned totally.""

Lately, Indy, sometimes you can be so Curt. Sheeeeeeeeeeeesh, man!
    snopes.com

  16. by Indy! on July 16, 2024 7:38 pm

The Charlottesville protesters were racists - the rally was organized by one of the top guys in the neo-nazi movement of the time. The counter protesters were protesting their views. That doesn't leave any wiggle room in the REAL world.

And I notice you didn't even try to refute the rest because you know I'm right.

  17. by Curt_Anderson on July 16, 2024 8:31 pm
    HtS,
Read below the fold on that Snopes article you quoted. Snopes says:

Editors' Note: Some readers have raised the objection that this fact check appears to assume Trump was correct in stating that there were "very fine people on both sides" of the Charlottesville incident. That is not the case. This fact check aimed to confirm what Trump actually said, not whether what he said was true or false. For the record, virtually every source that covered the Unite the Right debacle concluded that it was conceived of, led by and attended by white supremacists, and that therefore Trump's characterization was wrong.

Seriously, HtS, who do you think the "very fine people" Trump was talking about? One side were the Tiki torch carrying neo-Nazis. The other side were the anti-Nazi protestors. Who else was there that Trump could have been talking about?

  18. by Indy! on July 17, 2024 12:38 am

It also goes a lot deeper than that. The main problem the neo-nazis, skinheads, white supremacists, etc…. have when it comes to being a larger influence in this country is they can’t get together on anything. It’s the “herding cats” problem - they’re fighting each other almost as much as non-white folks they fashion their “enemy.” The dude who was behind Charlottesville was an up and coming leader of the neo-nazi movement and that was his first big play at taking control of the national white power movement. So it wasn’t just a bunch of neighborhood bigots getting together for a fun weekend -it was a serious event meant to make a big splash for the white supremacy “cause”.

  19. by HatetheSwamp on July 17, 2024 2:15 am

    Curt,

    "Some readers,..." right.

Some readers who are paralyzed by TDS. There's lots that can be said to criticize Trump, and pb's been doing that for years. Lying ain't necessary. Nevertheless, you... and many others, insist.

  20. by HatetheSwamp on July 17, 2024 2:26 am

Go to 1:58. "...and, I'm not talking about the Neo-Nazis and the white nationalists, because they should be condemned totally..."

Now, Curt, as po'd say, SHUT THE EFF UP!
