This article is from effin BEFORE President Clouseau was even immaculated...December 15, 2020
Pete Buttigieg, Transportation Secretary nominee, had a pothole problem as mayor
The 38-year-old served as mayor from 2012 to 2020, as he forayed into national politics in the Democratic primary.
But in 2019, the South Bend Tribune reported that many residents felt the city had the ”worst pothole situation in the state."
The Tribune reported one year earlier that potholes at the time were the worst area repair shops had seen in “over 10 years." Lines of vehicles reportedly awaited repair for pothole damages every day.
In 2019, Domino’s Pizza stepped in -- offering South Bend a $5,000 “Paving for Pizza” grant to fill in potholes.
In 2017, top aides to Mayor Buttigieg expressed interest in having the road in front of Buttigieg’s house repaved, though it was not initially slated for repavement by the city. Emails obtained by the Free Beacon show Buttigieg’s then-chief of staff Angela Kouters expressing concern Buttigieg’s road was not on the maintenance list.
Two years in, the Biden Administration is known for two things:
1. Joe's occasional mental lapses.
2. The buffoonish ineptitude of key members of Biden's team.
Kamala Harris makes Dan Quayle seem like Albert Einstein. Karine Jean-Pierre has to be the most incompetent White House Press Secretary in history. And, now, after many crises, Pothole Mayor Pete Buttigieg's ineptitude emerges again in east Ohio.
All of these are woke appointments: Men and women given jobs because they are in preferred woke classes.
Why, of all Cabinet positions, would you appoint a guy who was a mediocre mayor of a small city, whose term was distinguished by pothole problems, to lead Transportation?
Why? Obviously. He's gay. This was laughable before the East Palestine disaster. But, now?
Disgusting!
You woke SwampLovers did this. It's your fault. Plain and simple.

So, OD. Can you guess what the "BUT TRUMP, BUT TRUMP!" is? I'm stumped. But, they constantly amaze me.
by oldedude on February 17, 2023 6:08 am It's because they have nothing else to say. They can't articulate an answer to anything, so it's easier to blame everyone else for what they caused. e.g. rampant crime, police retiring or quitting all together, inflation, etcetcetc.
by oldedude on February 17, 2023 6:11 am My issue with pothole pete is that he's not doing anything he needs to do. He's late to work every time something happens. He has no logical answer to any of the things he needed to jump on as transportation czar. I don't hate him, he's just extremely ineffective.
by HatetheSwamp on February 17, 2023 6:26 am
OD,
The difference between them and us is that, from the beginning, we've acknowledged Trump's flaws and lamented his excesses. They?

Two years in, if Fox News and the rest of the phantasmagorical right media are literally all a right wing, brainwashed person like you ever paid any attention to, I am not surprised in the least that the above list would encompass your entire knowledge and understanding of everything this president has accomplished during his term so far. Garbage in, garbage out.
And you sit there mindlessly typing away, laughably deluded enough to think that the rest of us are supposed to accept it as being anything even vaguely similar to an honest assessment of his entire presidency? You truly are deranged, Bill.
Where are all the crimes that Biden has committed during these two years, hmmm ? Where are all the scandals? Where are all the immoral violations, the parade of sexual harassment accusers and other despicable revelations about him that Fox would have broken both its legs jumping all over...?
There was already direct evidence of the previous president being a narcissistic scofflaw who had committed felonies during his inauguration celebration for fukk sake! And he never stopped committing crimes throughout his entire term in office. It was a constant stream, one after another.
And never a peep of condemnation or even acknowledgement from you whatsoever. Just brainless, reflexive blurtings of "TDS!!! TDS!!!". Back then, you couldn't seem to suck his dick hard enough, you were so deeply and gleefully embedded in his cult.
Why did you never give a flying fukk about all the crimes that inhumanly-colored asshole flagrantly committed? No. You were more of a mind to dutifully rush to his defense every single time evidence that he broke the law ever surfaced. You totally defended every sociopathic and despicable official act he ever undertook.
And now you want to make a big, stop-the-presses, giant federal case about there being too many pot holes in Indiana when the current vice president was mayor in a city there...??? Holy shitt, Bill!
"I don't hate him, he's just extremely ineffective." -Hate
Okay. Fair enough. I'm open minded enough to admit that may well even be an accurate statement. 😲
But then having said that, why were you absolutely blind and totally silent to every gargantuan, inappropriately heinous, and eventually disastrous appointment the previous president ever made? Why did the clown car parade of incompetent, law-averse, obsequiously fawning lackeys he put in high positions never rate a critical mention from you?
Because you are a mendacious, unchristian, pathological hypocrite, Bill. That's why.

Please forgive me for having no alternative but to say so, od... But in a pig's fukking eye you did.
Pretty much everything I said about Hate above unfortunately applies to you also. Sorry. Nothing personal. I'm just something of a stickler for the truth is all. I hate lies. And that quote of yours above was a doozie! . Ten Pinocchios on that one I'm afraid.
by oldedude on February 18, 2023 10:23 am proof? cite? or is it just your "feelings" (read little voices in your head) telling you that.
by Ponderer on February 18, 2023 10:40 am
olde dude, I do wish that you'd be even a tenth as verbose with your objections as you are with the essays you write.
I posted a very long post with a lot in it, and...
"proof? cite? or is it just your "feelings" (read little voices in your head) telling you that."
...gives me no idea of what you are specifically talking about or asking me for I am afraid.
by oldedude on February 18, 2023 12:57 pm Sorry, I didn't think you were that dense.

Ah. Okay I see.
Yeah, I was talking about how how there was little to no reality in that statement of yours as far as I have ever seen in here. I certainly don't recall you ever expressing in much perceptible detail any supposed acknowledgements and lamentations regarding any of Trump's "flaws" and/or "excesses", as you so carefully understated all of his heinous and felonious criminal activities over the years.
And hey, please forgive my utilization of that obscure colloquialization about pig's eyes. It's just that given how strongly and adamantly I feel about your quote being a pile of 100% insupportable hogwash, it just seemed way too apt an idiom to not employ here.
But you want "proof?" and "cite?" you say? Well if you insist. I will do a bit of research and get back to you with as many links as I can find to all the times that I never saw you post anything even vaguely similar to what you said you have. This may take a bit of time. Where to start... where to start........
HEY! OR...
...You could see your way clear to racking your own lazy brain and offer up the recollection or two that you must have had in it when you posted that statement in the first place? Or any other example you can recall...?
olde dude, you are certainly in a much better position, I would hope, than I am to recall things you say you have said in the past that I can't remember you ever saying. Go ahead and lay it on me, man.
I won't even demand you give a link to any of them.
Simply recall and recount them.....
by oldedude on February 18, 2023 6:16 pm So you have nothing. Got it. Have a nice life.

Other than the potholes issue, everything in Hts's opening post is an opinion.
There's nothing wrong with having opinions. Everyone has opinions. Why is that suddenly a bad thing?
by Donna on February 18, 2023 7:36 pm
Last November I ran over a pothole and blew out a tire. That was the same afternoon I came down with the flu. I felt like shit when the blowout happened. Thank God AAA got there in about 40 minutes.
That said, I think if you have to resort to complaining about Pete Buttigieg's alleged mishandling of a pothole problem in South Bend where he was mayor in order to find fault with President Biden, then you're pretty much out of bullets. But carry on. It just makes your party look petty and disingenous, especially in light of Trump's disastrous presidency.
South Bend, like many American cities has its share of problems. And no city has an unlimited budget. So as mayor, you're tasked with choosing what to spend money on.
From the South Bend Tribune:
SOUTH BEND — Mayor Pete Buttigieg won top honors last week at the Mayors’ Challenge Pedestrian and Bicycle Awards in Washington, D.C. for recent “Smart Streets” work.
Sponsored by the Department of Transportation, the awards recognize cities that have taken action to improve pedestrian and bicycle transportation safety.
South Bend was recognized as the Small City Winner for “Complete Streets” and won Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx’s Award for Overall Success along with New York City and Washington, D.C.
“We are transforming South Bend’s streets to meet the needs of pedestrians and cyclists as well as drivers,” Buttigieg said in a statement. “Our city is already seeing the benefits of safer streets, more vibrant public spaces, and a stronger economy thanks to better design and more complete streetscapes.”
Buttigieg and Deputy Director of Public Works Jitin Kain accepted the awards at the “Safer People, Safer Streets Summit” in Washington.
“As a former mayor, I know local leadership matters to creating a safe, seamless transportation network,” Foxx said in a statement, “and with national road deaths increasing, leadership from cities like these is especially critical.”

Btw, back in 2017 former Mayor Buttigieg did address South Bend's ongoing pothole problem, but as I suspected, the city budget didn't have enough money to fix the entire problem.
South Bend mayor says city cannot always afford to keep up with potholes
South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg rolled up his sleeves and went out to work with the pothole patching crew.
The mayor says the passage of Wednesday's road bill is a big deal because right now, cities like South Bend are struggling to keep the roads in good shape.
Mayor Buttigieg said, "Our crew filled in over 4,000 potholes since January and we don't have the funding to keep up, both in terms of resurfacing and in terms of other road needs."
Buttigieg says there's enough funding to repave all the roads in South Bend every 100 years.
The problem is asphalt only lasts between 15 and 20 years.

I think it's funny that the Republican Party thinks this is a winning issue.

Any honest person who lives in an area that experiences snow, ice, frost heaves, etc. knows that this time of year is 'pothole season'. And we also know that there will be a certain percentage of people who will always cry and moan that the city or town is doing a terrible job of fixing their roads (no matter how good a job they are doing) and keeping them cleared and in decent shape during the winter. We also know that during the early spring, "it's pothole season".
We call those people the complainers, and every town and city has them. I think it's simply a part of their personality. They enjoy getting together and complaining. They will, for instance, complain that the town is doing a terrible job of fixing the potholes and after that they will start complaining about paying their taxes which of course is where the town gets the money needed to fix their rd.
Here in Maine, and probably elsewhere, the complainers are accepted simply as part of the way things are and the rest of us enjoy making jokes about our potholes. But we are extremely appreciative of the wonderful job our road crews do, and we feel a great deal of comfort when we hear the sound of the snowplows going by in the middle of the night...And our little town really does do a remarkable job of keeping our roads clear and sanded 'and' keeping any pot hoes filled in as quickly as possible !

The Fox News article Lead linked, identifying Pothole by his nickname, Pothole Pete, appeared a month before the Biden Administration began.
So, isle, is the mayor of your town joshed about his or her mishandling of your streets and roads?
Lead's point is that Pothole was incompetent to be in the Cabinet as, of all things, Secretary of Transportation and that that fact wad known from the beginning. He's been a disaster since Day One. He's a failed woke appointment and the greatest disaster as a Cabinet member as anyone I'm aware of in all my born days.
Can you name anyone worse?
by Donna on February 19, 2023 6:54 am
If you think that complaining about Pete Buttigieg is a winning formula for beating President Biden next year, then have at it, Hts! *snicker*
by HatetheSwamp on February 19, 2023 7:02 am
Donna,
Pothole is the tip of an iceberg that is a major woke/Dem vulnerability for 024. His incompetence represents what happens when the woke operate unchecked.
The man should never have been nominated to be Secretary of Transportation and his failure is commentary on woke idiocy.
by Donna on February 19, 2023 7:08 am
Okay, then go with that! We're rooting for you!
by islander on February 19, 2023 7:14 am
Hate ~ Our town is too small to have a Mayor but we do have a Facebook page where the folks talk about what’s going on in town. And yes, there are two groups, the whiners and complainers who post how they think our town officials and our road crews are doing a terrible job...Then there are the rest of us who read their posts and go “huh”? Since our roads are virtually all cleared and sanded by the time it stops snowing because the crews are working steadily right through the storm. And any pot holes are repaired as quickly as realistically possible. We could double the size of our road crews and "maybe" get the pot holes fixed even faster but the complainers don’t want to do that because it would cost them money. It’s cheaper and easier just to sit around and complain.
But if you think pandering to those complainers is going to win an election for you...Like Donna said, "Go for it" !!! LoL
by oldedude on February 19, 2023 8:29 pm I'm more than a little amazed you can compare a little town in Maine to a Czar in the government and expect them to be equals.
by islander on February 20, 2023 4:59 am
od, I was describing "people" as a whole, not comparing a little town in Maine to anything else.
I've found those two personality types to be pretty universal no matter where I've lived.
by oldedude on February 20, 2023 5:24 am I would say you were correct, except the nickname came from his own city citing his on inability to lead in general. I think it shows what people are really worried about. kitchen table issues, not dining room political chatter.
It continues today because he lacks the ability to put others first, even for a show. Could he take paternity leave? Absolutely. His job requires him to know about things you and I don't know because he be briefed on these things on a continual basis. It requires him to stop his leave, make decisions and statements to the nation about immediate issues. To me, he's a lot like Peña, who was absent most of his time. Although Peña the era was also full of graft and corruption. I don't think Pete is doing that.
