Dear President-elect Donald Trump,

I am writing to you regarding your statement on Monday, November 25, regarding your statement on migration, fentanyl trafficking, and tariffs.

You may not be aware that Mexico has developed a comprehensive policy to assist migrants from different parts of the world who cross our territory en route to the southern border of the United States. As a result, and according to data from your country's Customs and Border Protection (CBP), encounters at the Mexico-United States border have decreased by 75% between December 2023 and November 2024. Moreover, half of those arrive do so through a legally scheduled appointment under the United States' CBP One program. For those reasons, migrant caravans no longer arrive at the border.

Even so, it is clear that we must work together to create a labor mobility model that is necessary for your country, as well as address the root causes that compel families to leave their homes out of necessity, if even a small percentage of what the United States allocates to war were instead dedicated to building peace and fostering development, it would address the underlying causes of human mobility.

On another note, and for humanitarian reasons, Mexico has consistently expressed its willingness to help prevent the fentanyl epidemic in the United States from continuing. This is, after all, a public health and consumption problem within your society. So far this year, Mexican armed forces and prosecutors have seized tons of various types of drugs, 10,340 firearms, and have detained 15,640 individuals for violence related to drug trafficking.

Furthermore, the Mexican Congress is in the process of approving a constitutional reform to classify the production, distribution, and commercialization of fentanyl and other synthetic drugs as a serious crime without bail. However, it is publicly known that the chemical precursors used to produce this and other synthetic drugs are illegally entering Canada, the United States, and Mexico from Asian countries. This underscores the urgent need for international collaboration. You must also be aware of the illegal trafficking of firearms into my country from the United States.

Seventy percent of the illegal weapons seized from criminals in Mexico came from your country. We do not produce these weapons, nor do we consume synthetic drugs. Tragically, it is in our country that lives are lost to the violence resulting from meeting the drug demand in yours.

President Trump, migration and drug consumption in the United States cannot be addressed through threats and tariffs. What is needed is cooperation and mutual understanding to tackle these significant challenges.

For every tariff, there will be a response in kind, until we put at risk our shared enterprises. Yes, shared. For instance, among Mexico's main exporters to the United States are General Motors, Stellantis, and Ford Motor Company, which arrived in Mexico 80 years ago. Why impose a tariff that would jeopardize them? Such a measure would be unacceptable and would lead to inflation and job losses in both the United States and Mexico.

I am convinced that North America's economic strength lies in maintaining our trade partnership. This allows us to remain competitive against other economic blocs. For this reason, I believe that dialogue is the best path to understanding, peace, and prosperity for our nations.  I hope our teams can meet soon to continue building joint solutions.

For all of that, she's no better than the prior "President" Andrés Manuel López Obrador, who was also had the cartels lining his pocket. So she'll be getting rich also. To tell trumpster to piss off is actually telling him nothing will change.

She was correct on the encounters, so I'll give her that. As for doing anything? Nada, nope, zilch. My guess is there was an "agreement" between the cartels and the government for political reasons. That would also help explain the fentanyl being cut more right now. So that's a little bit of a double edge sword.

This citation is not from anything close to a conservative site. It's al Jazeera, which is funny, because the cartels are also bringing in terrorists from Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Iran, etc. So aJ is a benefactor of the cartels and also pay them off.

This is like the US going from obomber to pedojoe to kammy and her cuck. Just a continuation of the same thing.

Mexico’s election: A victory for organised crime
Under Claudia Sheinbaum’s presidency, organised crime will likely be calling the shots.

On June 2, Mexico elected Claudia Sheinbaum as its first woman president. The 61-year-old scientist served as mayor of Mexico City from 2018 until 2023 and is the protégée of outgoing President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO), to whose Morena party she belongs and in whose shadow she will now govern.

In the largest election in Mexico’s history, Sheinbaum faced off against ex-senator Xóchitl Gálvez, head of a conservative coalition. In addition to the presidential race, Mexicans also voted for candidates contesting more than 20,700 federal and local positions countrywide.

Back in 2019, Sheinbaum, the first female mayor of Mexico City, promised to eradicate violence against women. During her tenure, however, the femicide epidemic in the Mexican capital – and the rest of the country – continued to rage.

Mexico currently sees at least 10 women and girls killed on a daily basis, with tens of thousands of women missing. The vast majority of femicides go unprosecuted.

Of course, the surge in femicides occurs within a general context of violence; in the first four and a half years of AMLO’s term, Mexico registered 160,594 homicides, while the estimated number of missing people has now surpassed 111,000 – a figure AMLO has preferred to drastically lowball.

Trump is talking about bombing Mexican fentanyl and meth labs. Comer even claims that Trump ordered our military to do that, but that it refused.

Sheinbaum is far from that criticism, OD. Here is a much better account of her abilities and aims. She is a first-class scientist and a fighter for social justice, She is also more than a match for Trump's bully-boy tactics.

Trump is playing a dangerous game for which he has no talent if he wants to take on Trudeau and Sheinbaum.

If only the USA would select someone with the aims and abilities of either of those the world would soon be a better place.

His plans will be catastrophic for all three countries. America as much as the others.

He is soon to learn that cooperation is far more effective than threats to smarter people than himself.

It seems to me that Sheinbaum is doing the best she can do, holding a pair of deuces, while Trump's holding a Queens over Jacks full house.

I know, Donna, that you are rooting against Trump, hence America, but this is Trump's forté.

By Inauguration Day, Trump'll have this all worked out.

  6. by Donna on November 28, 2024 1:17 pm

Well we'll see, or maybe we won't, if Sheinbaum has been compromised by the drug cartels. The Mexican drug cartels have become so wealthy and powerful that they've taken over the governments of numerous Mexican towns, and they're armed mostly with US-made weapons.

There's a coastal town in the state of Oaxaca where the last two mayors were assassinated by druglords, and now they can't get anyone to be mayor. The cartels have murdered countless journalists too. There has been speculation that the cartels have compromised the federal government.

How hard would it be for the Mexican government to shut down fentanyl and meth labs? Trump wants to fire missiles into them. One might ask why the government of Mexico hasn't done that. OTOH we have probably thousands of meth labs in the US that seem to operate with impunity.

  7. by HatetheSwamp on November 28, 2024 1:28 pm

    Donna,

Do you have any doubts that the fault for the disaster is Mexico has become is with the "dithering and diminished" Doddering Old Fool's string-pullers?

Inauguration Day is still nearly two months away.

Trump's laying the foundation for what he will do... whatever that will be. My guess is that we will not be bored.

Obviously, you don't know anything about the Mexican political system. Or corruption.

His plans will be catastrophic for all three countries. America as much as the others.

FOR THE FOURTH TIME, THIS IS A NEGOTIATION TACTIC!

  9. by Curt_Anderson on November 28, 2024 3:36 pm
    OD,
So if it's a negotiation tactic, to what end? Maybe Trump can "achieve" a tariff and retaliatory tariff to something less that 25% and 10%? It still will be a tax US consumers and will hurt US farmers and other businesses that export products.

If you look for news reports of fentanyl and other drug busts, you will see that it happens mostly in airports and legal border crossings (90% of the time). The mules' names are usually non-Hispanic because they are usually US citizens (86% of the time).

Maybe he can have both of the countries the information to VET the immigrants coming into our country, or perhaps getting the "immigrants" to stay in their countries until they're vetted. Maybe part of that is lowering tariffs in a deal with Canada, since they have tariffs on our Aluminum, steel, pickles, beer kegs, and chocolate.

Honestly, I doubt if Mexico will actually do much. China is getting around their tariffs from the US by putting manufacturing in Mexico. So that might be a point. My guess is that the Mexican government is making more money from the Chinese and cartels, that what the tariffs could ever cost. So whatever the US says, China and the cartels will match

Sheinbaum saying they are going to change the law for drug and human trafficking is pure fantasy. This is the country where a cartel guy ordered a members to put pipes through door handles and the casino was torched, killing 52 people. He was never arrested, although they arrested some of the lackies. The corruption in the country rivals Egypt, India, and Yemen.

  11. by meagain on November 29, 2024 1:13 pm

Very few commentators and pundits are actually getting anywhere near the real problems. There is, as I agreed a spike in illegal crossings from Canada to the USA but it is still a drop in the bucket. I have yet to see anywhere somebody saying why. The reason? The toughening up at the Mexican border that has seen a huge drop in illegal crossings in the Biden years. America has sent thousands of officers there. So, there has been some effort by Indians mostly because of a strong presence in Canada.

The lower numbers in the past and under Biden have been brought about by the agreements between the countries and cooperation in the enforcement of those agreements. The problem grew under Trump 1 when he ended cooperation with his wall and other idiotic policies. He caused the mess and it was partly fixed after he left. Now it is going to come back because he will not accept American responsibility to man its borders.

I've already covered most thing in your tribble.

My hope is that your country gets hit with a 9/11 attack and kills as many people. I thought Canada and the US had decent relationships. Many are like you. they despise the US for no reason they can articulate with fact. Admittedly, I had two cousins that went near Toronto during vietnam and became citizens. They are not respected and actually written out of the family. I'm okay with that.

But now, canada (and I'm sure) the US treat each other as an "enemy." I know we didn't change as fast as you to the "liberal" "woke" side. Yes, that's how OUR framers designed our government. Unlike yours. Do we hate you for being so liberal? No. Maybe mistrust (now). but not hatred.

If you want a great economic relationship, then quit hating us. "we" are really willing to work with Canada. great. but not at the expense of our jobs. AND many of us believe WE can both have great jobs on both sides and support each other.

  13. by meagain on November 30, 2024 6:41 am

Poor OD. He don't get no respect!

Canada and the US do have a great relationship that Don Trump is doing his best to destroy.

Two enlightened cousins. So there is some intelligence and conscience in your family genes.

US wokeness. Kennedy, Johnson, Biden, and Haris seem to be quite 'woke.'

  14. by oldedude on November 30, 2024 7:01 am
What you don't realise is that toxic people like you hold no sway at all with me. Honestly, like princess, if you live or die it doesn't make any difference to me at all. I've tried to address you with a different viewpoint without being rude, and you're just a dikead. So have a nice life.

  15. by oldedude on November 30, 2024 7:06 am
Hold on! Johnson= "WOKE" You have to be kidding! The guy that continually carpet bombed VietNam and Cambodia for years? Your proctologist called. They found your head.

  16. by Indy! on November 30, 2024 10:32 am

I think we found the REAL source of OD's perpetual anger and lashing out at the world...

Admittedly, I had two cousins that went near Toronto during vietnam and became citizens. They are not respected and actually written out of the family. I'm okay with that.

He's pissed his cousins were smart enough to leave rather than fight for Lockheed Martin's bottom line. He'll WRITE OFF FAMILY rather than disrupt the flow of cash into Raytheon's pockets. Wow. What a loser. 😂

  17. by oldedude on December 1, 2024 12:36 pm
You still haven't proven anything princess.

  18. by meagain on December 1, 2024 12:50 pm

Woke has nothing to do with Vietnam, OD. You still can't get your head around the concept of a society being about the people in it: about caring for and protecting all. Not living by a principle of the weak go to the wall and the winner takes all.

Woke means healthcare, and equality. Social benefits. All the things that make it a place where everyone can live housed, fed and free.

About care and compassion for all.

  19. by HatetheSwamp on December 1, 2024 1:20 pm

"Woke means healthcare, and equality. Social benefits. All the things that make it a place where everyone can live housed, fed and free."

Woke means self-righteousness, judgment, hate, condemnation, and delusions of superiority.

  20. by oldedude on December 1, 2024 7:05 pm
I'll add DEI and equity, much different than "equality." And the wokesters are open about them using that instead of "equality" which they hate with a passion.

So they love splitting the country into groups. So no one is just "an American." You're split up by race, national origin, gender, gender preferences and you're taught to hate everyone else, which is exactly what Hitler did.

Equity was just dumped by Walmart because it sucks as a business model. You don't get the "best" people. You get a subqualified worker because it's "illegal" to get the best person for the job.

  21. by Indy! on December 1, 2024 7:30 pm

Those aren't delusions, Trumper. We are superior.

  22. by oldedude on December 1, 2024 8:37 pm
And yet everything I said was factual.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

  23. by Donna on December 2, 2024 8:05 am

Appointing only loyalists to your cabinet is even worse than DEI. Btw, I'm opposed to all forms of affirmative action.

  24. by Indy! on December 2, 2024 10:43 am

Your opinion is not fact, OD. 🙄

  25. by HatetheSwamp on December 2, 2024 10:51 am

    Donna,

    How is it worse?

The thing is, Trump was so badly burned by the members of the Swamp he appointed last time that I understand his appointments this time around. And,... based of his first term, I doubt he'll suffer incompetence even from loyalists.

  26. by Donna on December 2, 2024 11:25 am

Every dictator who has ever ruled has surrounded himself with loyalists - yes men - people who are loyal to the dictator as opposed to the law. Apparently you have no problem with that.

  27. by HatetheSwamp on December 2, 2024 11:34 am

So, JFK and Bubba Clinton and The ONE didn't value loyalty in their administrations? Or, are you saying that they were dictators, too.

I'm not convinced that Trump's going to behave anymore like a dictator than "that feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap's" string-pullers did.

But, I am pretty sure that he's going to attempt to dismantle the Swamp. That's why loyalty is the thing.

  28. by Donna on December 2, 2024 11:43 am

It's not about valuing loyalty, it's about making loyalty ones primary requirement, evem above expertise, as Trump is very obviously doing.

You're trying very hard to normalize this Putin wanna-be you voted for 3 times.

  29. by oldedude on December 2, 2024 6:08 pm
I know how he was totally fucked by people who lied about him like you. You're the ones that fully supported the lies from DOJ/FBI. You're the ones that supported the unconstitutional actions in the FISC which they also admitted to. These are things that weren't "my" issues, they were Constitutional issues they violated and you're too stoopid to understand that.

I'm Sorry, but we've had this discussion over and over again and you won't understand it. So I'm just done. You are forcing me into one of those people that believes the left is too stoopid to understand our constitution. So honestly, I don't care what happens to you under trumpster. I mean honestly, you (and your wife) don't give a flying fuck about me. Why should I care if you live or die? Your dogma works both ways. Same thing goes with curt and princess (although it doesn't understand the issue) And I have the compartmentalization in my life to do that without feeling or a raised heartbeeat.

    Donna,

Normalize? I don't think so. I'm not even defending him. Were I in the Senate, I'd vote against some of the nominees but I HATETHESWAMP and I know what the Swamp did to Trump and his people last time.

I, to quote isle, UNDERSTAND what he's doing and I don't blame him. Your Swamp asked for this.

Oh, and, I voted for JD Vance.

  33. by meagain on December 3, 2024 9:50 am
How on earth can anyone admit voting for either Trump or Vance? It is tantamount to admitting to being either crazy or a complete idiot. A narcissist who has promised to wreak havoc on his country and the world: to hurt as many Americans as he can, not only his political enemies. A Fascist dictator. The 'Final Solution' for that growing right-wing fanaticism that has been slowly edging towards power in the US for two generations.

America is about to become a pariah country and you are enthused about it.

    You are mad.

  34. by HatetheSwamp on December 3, 2024 10:07 am

Trump won the US popular vote. And, won the biggest victory by a Republican in 36 years.

    And,...

... the alternative was that Dingbat.
