A new Harris-Walz campaign ad voiced by actor Julia Roberts encourages women to vote for Vice President Harris in the presidential election, even if their husbands are backing former President Trump.

The Roberts ad, put out by Vote Common Good, also alludes to abortion rights, which is seen as a pivotal issue in a race that has seen Trump with big polling leads among male voters and Harris with a large lead among female voters.

“In the one place in America where women still have a right to choose, you can vote any way you want. And no one will ever know,” Roberts says in the ad as a woman on screen meets up with her husband after casting her ballot for Harris.

The voter winks at a fellow female voter as her husband asks if she made the “right choice.”

“If I found out Emma was going to the voting booth and pulling the lever for Harris, that’s the same thing as having an affair,” Fox News host Jesse Watters said on air Wednesday in a clip highlighted by Mediaite.

Other GOP members including Charlie Kirk said the thought was “nauseating.”

Well, if you ever needed any proof that wingnuts are misogynists - there it is. Why would anyone think their spouse has to vote the same way as they do? I'll tell you why - because the GOP are the ones who belittle women, browbeat them (Kirk) and believe their voice doesn't matter.

    IOW? Misogynists.

  2. by HatetheSwamp on October 31, 2024 3:54 pm

Well, as our correspondent on what's happening at FoxNews, you'd know. And, in truth, you're probably understating the reaction. But, it's the Fox babes who are most agitated. Judge Jeanine all but hurled on The Five last night. And, Laura was incredulous.

There's a similar Kammy ad featuring a dude who votes Dem and keeps it from his bros. But, I guess a man who'd vote for Cackles probably is a cuck.

I'm wondering what the polls are telling Cackles' campaign that suggests that people are, what?, ashamed to bear witness of their views.

But, sheeeeeeeeeeeesh. Those ads are the strangest I've ever seen.

And, Curt. If you vote for the Dingbat, you don't have to be ashamed to tell your friends at SS.

  3. by Indy! on October 31, 2024 4:06 pm

Sounds like the real Fox clone already told us what happened on Fox. Probably because you know if you don't bring it to us "real lifers" - people living in the real world - we'll never see it.

  4. by Curt_Anderson on October 31, 2024 5:51 pm
I love these sort of ads. Guerrilla marketing. There probably is no television ad buy for this spot, it's shared online. It gets the most exposure by outraged conservatives like those at the Washington Examiner and on FOX News. That's what makes them so effective.

Throughout the land while watching FOX News report about this ad, there are seething Trump voters watching it followed by the pundits' condemnation. In the kitchen behind them, their wives are preparing dinner. Those wives are thinking, Julia Roberts actually has a really good idea!

  5. by oldedude on October 31, 2024 7:36 pm
I love the sheep in this. I'm wondering if curt is actually married if he expects his wife to lie to him over something this stupid.

And indy, never married (no wonder) and thank God he couldn't have offspring!

I find it really interesting libs really honestly believe that lying to your spouse is the way to go. But I guess when you don't have another move, and your platform is non-existent, you just gotta punt. I'd love to be a fly on the wall when they're doing their internal polling. That has to be a riot!

    Hopey changey isn't a platform.

  10. by meagain on November 1, 2024 9:58 am

Since Red blooded American Conservatives support a regime that holds women to be subservient to men, it is very clear why many women would need to lie about their vote. It would be physically safer. Or save them from the wrath of their pastors.

  11. by oldedude on November 1, 2024 10:23 am
I'm guessing that you don't understand that conservative couples believe in a partnership. Shared responsibilities, open communication, and respecting each other. My wife and I are partners with the grandkids. We tag-team. We also share jobs around the house. We both share incomes. She was a superintendent in a state youth district. I have retirements that are put into the pot of money. I'm the political scientist/ intel analyst with a bunch of military. She's a numbers person. It's a yin and yang compliment.

Biblically, you can tell who doesn't know about what the Bible actually says about marriage. And I agree there are Christians that don't know that part. That propaganda and misuse of the passages is where you're getting your information. I will say the conversation about what makes a Christian Marriage is now being emphasized in the churches now. I think maybe because the misconceptions about what it's supposed to be.

I'm the political scientist/ intel analyst with a bunch of military...

What kind of intel analyzing is necessary around your house, OD? I understand where your wife's math skills and actual paycheck help - can't see where bring in the military, chatting on the board here all day and "analyzing" "intel" (IOW: reading TV Guide) is something necessary in most households. 🤔

olde dude, Hate... Julia Roberts was not talking to your wives. You sound like you have excellent relationships, as Donna and I do.

But not all couples are as good at relationships as we all here are.

Just the other day, I mentioned to Donna that there had to be MAGA Hat men who are so controlling of their wives that they make their wives fill out a mail-in ballot in front of them so that they can be sure she voted the way he wanted them to. That they expect their wives to vote the way they want them to or it's grounds for divorce.

Then I come to hear that such men not only exist but have programs on Fox.

Why would you a$$ume that MAGA men are brutes,... you hate-filled bigot?

Watch a MAGA rally. You'll be shocked to see that it's, generally, the babes who are most convinced that Trump is God's gift to America.

The wide-ranging scope of your ignerce and brainless bigotry astounds.

  16. by Donna on November 1, 2024 12:45 pm

Jesse Watters actually compared lying to your husband about who you voted for is as bad as having an affair.

That's rich coming from Jesse. The following is is from Jesse's Wikipedia page:

Watters is registered to vote as a member of the Conservative Party of New York State.[51] He married Noelle Inguagiato in 2009 and they have twin daughters.[52] Noelle filed for divorce in 2018 after Watters admitted to an affair with a producer on his show, Emma DiGiovine. Watters claimed to have begun dating DiGiovine by letting the air out of her vehicle's tires so she would ask him for a ride.[52] In March 2019, Inguagiato and Watters' divorce was finalized. Watters announced his engagement to DiGiovine in August 2019, and they married that December. They had a son together in 2021,[53][54] followed by a daughter in April 2023.

  17. by HatetheSwamp on November 1, 2024 12:53 pm

I saw Watters say that. I thought that, coming from him, it was odd.

Still, doing anything behind your spouse's back ain't good.

All I see are fat white dudes with sad wives and (most likely) tiny penises.

  19. by Indy! on November 1, 2024 12:59 pm

Wait... did that sound like I was saying their wives had tiny penises?

    🤔

Okay - either way - still rings true.

  20. by Ponderer on November 1, 2024 1:05 pm

Bill, what if a woman telling her husband that she voted for Harris was fairly guaranteed to get her a sock in the jaw? Or would make him file for a divorce? Or any other number of ways that he could punish her for such individualistic insolence? Again, not all marriages are as perfect as all ours are.

Should a woman who could expect a horrific reaction from her husband to her truthful confession if she voted for Harris instead simply vote how her husband wants her to in those situations? To keep the peace in the household? To fulfill her womanly duties to her husband? Her own opinions and desires be damned?

Tell us, Bill... What should a woman like that do?

  21. by oldedude on November 1, 2024 1:07 pm
You have an abnormal fixation on other people's penis's.

Is this another one of your insecurities? Man, THAT'S A LOT OF INSECURITY!

  22. by Indy! on November 1, 2024 1:14 pm

Judging by the way he browbeat his wife into submission over who gets to use the car, Charlie Kirk's wife will certainly be getting a sock in the jaw if he finds out she voted for someone else.

    ===========================================================

    OD...

You have an abnormal fixation on other people's underage childrens' penis's.

"Bill, what if a woman telling her husband that she voted for Harris was fairly guaranteed to get her a sock in the jaw? Or would make him file for a divorce?"

What ridiculously absurd, bigoted and ignernt questions!

What if a woman telling her White Dudes for Harris husband that she voted for Harris was fairly guaranteed to get her a sock in the jaw? Or would make him file for a divorce?"

    Hmmmm?

Or, are you a$$uming that all white dudes for Kammy are blue pilled cucks!!!!!?

  24. by Donna on November 1, 2024 1:17 pm

"Still, doing anything behind your spouse's back ain't good." - Hts

I agree. But consider the woman who feels that she has to hide from her husband thar she voted for Harris. It can't be a good marriage if she's afraid to tell her husband who she voted for.

  25. by HatetheSwamp on November 1, 2024 1:22 pm

    Donna,

Consider the woman who feels that she has to hide from her husband thar she voted for Harris.

Same question I asked po. Do you a$$ume that those men are pu$$y whipped?

I'm telling you. Based on watching actual MAGA rallies, my sense is that MAGA babes are more zealous than the dudes.

  26. by Donna on November 1, 2024 1:25 pm

Hts, it would be bad, too, if someone were afraid to tell their Harris-supporting spouse that they voted for Trump. Maybe Trump should have run the same kind of ad.

  27. by Curt_Anderson on November 1, 2024 1:31 pm
Here is how my wife and I vote. First I read through the Oregon voter's pamphlet which has arguments for and against every measure and the candidates' biographical info, their views and positions. It's actually a rather thick tome. I then lightly pencil in my ballot.

She largely copies my ballot but then she does her own research. We then discuss our votes where we disagree. Sometimes she will influence me to change my vote or I will influence her to change. Occasionally we will vote differently on a certain candidate or measure. More than 95% of time we are in total agreement, especially on national and top level statewide candidates.

Finally we take a dark pen and complete our ballots and walk them to the ballot drop-off box.

My wife would have no reason to lie to me about her vote.

  28. by HatetheSwamp on November 1, 2024 1:36 pm

    po, Donna!

I live in Alabama, Pennsylvania. Almost everyone I know personally is MAGA... i.e., the mommies and daddies and nannas and pappaps who merely want to raise their kids without government intrusion, or, as po says, those "fascistic and disgusting" "MAGA Republican" "Christian theocrats."

I am familiar with no relationship in which a woman would have to be afraid to vote her conscience. In fact, generally speaking, the women I know are more committed to MAGA than their husbands.

    And,...

... I can only assume that your opinions about thos men and women are rooted in ignorance and hate... plus some fear.

  29. by Curt_Anderson on November 1, 2024 1:56 pm
In a recent Time-Siena poll of six swing states, men ages 18 to 29 favored Trump by 13 points, while women the same age favored Vice President Harris by 38 points. That's a 51-point gap.

There are some wives who share their husband's MAGA views, but not all. Some MAGA wives just pretend to agree. Indy has said his father's wife falls into the second group who quietly has her own political views to maintain marital harmony.

HtS, did you think that Archie and Edith Bunker always voted the same way?

  30. by Ponderer on November 1, 2024 2:08 pm

"Why would you a$$ume that MAGA men are brutes,..." -Hate

It is by no means bigotry to assume that some are. Even if it's a tiny minority. They are men for fucksake.

    They are men for fucksake.

Lead- yeah and we all look the same and we all beat our wives, and.... and .... and po hates all men. So we're fucked. which is also the reason she's just automatically rude to us. We're not "delicate" "men" and cucks she can boss around. And she's really agreeable with indy...

There isn't a better indicator that America has misogyny problem. Many other countries have had female heads of state. The US has lagged and continues to lag far behind.

We are a nation of cavemen.
