It was a rare direct confrontation between two of the most heavily armed countries in the Middle East. The enemies have instead waged a decades-long “shadow war” through proxy militias — such as the Iran-backed Lebanese group Hezbollah and the Gaza-based Palestinian militant group Hamas — or, in Israel’s case, secret sabotage missions and assassinations.
It sounds like Israel is disabling Iranian air and missile forces. Because of the time, we've got about 4 hrs until daylight. The IRGC (Iranian Guard) Headquarters may have been hit. Just a guess, I'm betting the missile and aircraft bases are getting hit hard. Which just makes sense.
There are a lot of US troops in the region. USSPECOPS are on the ground. 2000 Marines are off the coast, plus a bunch of carrier groups. So that means F18s, Hospital ships, battleships, etc. The B1/B2/ B52 bombers are not within the Middle East.
This is the largest air attack by Israel in its history. Apparently, they want the Iranians to be limited to ground forces.
So I think this is vague. The US apparently got the word earlier today, which sounds like the Israelis don't trust the US administration at all.
I'm sure this is all going to change by the time you read this. Please just check the time stamp on the story.
