It doesn't hurt for Harris to have the debate bar lowered. That said, I expect the debate will be more about personality than a display of intelligence. The debate will not be contest of policy knowledge; Trump certainly won't be laying out any coherent policy details.

Trump will likely attempt to make Harris responsible for every decision of the Biden administration. I hope she responds by constantly crediting Mike Pence of the Trump-Pence administration. I cannot imagine Trump wanting to share credit for his administration.

Trump has already signaled that he intends to bring up the departure from Afghanistan. I hope that she accepts that and reminds Trump that while 13 soldiers died while she was VP, 65 American military personnel died in Afghanistan while Trump has president and almost 2500 before that. All 2500 souls had grieving families.

Abortion will come up, I hope Trump is given times to tie himself in knots trying to defend and explain his shifting position.

It's likely that Harris's position shifts since 2019 will be brought up. Changing views is not necessarily a bad thing. Harris should be able to recite the long list of Trump's inexplicable flip-flops including his position last week on the Florida abortion limitation initiative.

I hope Harris brings the joy and love of America while Trump paints his usual dystopian view of America.

I hope she is relaxed and has fun. Her answers should be informed and concise. I hope to see her needling and ridiculing Trump. More than Trump she is in a job interview and she should focus on making a good impression.

There may or may not be memorable quip Tuesday. The real test will what happens in the polls and ultimately the election.

You need 1440 points to pass the California bar exam.
