Turned on the TV and Larry O'D is starting his show by reporting Trump did not take a SINGLE question from the audience even though he kept promising throughout the questions were coming. Nope. He only felt safe in the warm, big strong softball questions Hannity was tossing to him in between the constant praise, longing eyes and obvious desire to get the "debate" over with so they could meet up back at Trump's hotel room.

NOT ONE QUESTION!

What a pussy. Oh and btw - who said Kamala didn't need to be there?

Chalk up another point for Kamala!

    Here's a firsthand account.

Last night's Hannity program was a Hannity interview of Trump. I'm not a Hannity fan but what Hannity did last night is what he does best. Another reporter might lob softballs to a candidate. Hannity loads his questions up so, in this case, Trump can hit grand slams on every pitch. And, he did.

Last night seems to have been intended to be a Trump version of Kammy's disastrous "interview" with Dana Bash and TT. If you doubt it was a disaster, chart the way Nate Silver has handicapped the election since and what's happened in the betting markets. It's as if Kammy's tumbling into the Pit of Despair. Compared to Kammy with Dana, Trump killed it last night.

    Anyway,...

In the closing segment, Hannity announced that after the live show ended, he'd moderate a Townhall in which members of the audience would ask questions of Trump. The Townhall portion of the program will air tonight.

If pb feels like it, he'll watch and let you know.

    *****

Having said that, holyfreakin friggin EFFINcow, man. I despise Trump. But, he was on his game last night! Part of that was Hannity who was setting up the grand slams.

    But,...!

Trump was relaxed and confident. With Hannity's gifted assistance, Trump offered few personal attacks and stuck to the issues. I've never seen him be more effective.

    Two thoughts about that:

    1. I wondered if, based on his own polls, Trump is convinced that he has this in the bag and is just enjoying the win.
    2. You may remember that, in 016, Kellyanne Conway, EFFINforced Trump to shut down his Twitter account for the final two weeks of the campaign and that some people think that the kinder, gentler Trump of the last days of the campaign drew enough undecideds to give him the victory. For Trump, what you saw last night was kinder and gentler... for Trump.

If he can keep that up...? You know my two words. I support Kammy. I support Kammy.

But, if that mellow Trump hangs around, oy freakin friggin EFFINvey! We're looking at about 320-218 in the Electoral College.

I guess my question is; How many interviews has Kamala done? How many town halls where the questions aren't staged?

She makes speeches. So what. That's easy. She refuses to take questions from the media or public. So who's the coward?
But I guess when you don't know enough about your own platform you can't answer questions, that's what shows.

  3. by Indy! on September 5, 2024 7:48 am
Sounds like you two are scared.

  4. by oldedude on September 5, 2024 10:25 am
No, remember you're the coward? I just think it's stupid for her not to know her own platform. She can't articulate it. She doesn't listen to any of her advisors, and if she does, she needs to fire them because they have stupid ideas that don't work. She's lying about every position she has "right now."

And you're going to vote for her? Not surprising, given you (lack of) knowledge about our political system and the constitution.

It probably was a mistake by Trump to partake in this town hall. The fact checkers at PBS and elsewhere caught him in numerous false statements. In the debate the moderators and/or Harris will likely call him out on his lies if he attempts to repeat them.

    For instance:
Trump: "They're filling up and loading up Social Security, Medicare, with illegal immigrants that have come into our country."

Saying that immigration will hurt Social Security's fiscal viability is questionable, particularly in the short- to medium term.

First, immigrants in the U.S. illegally cannot receive Social Security retirement benefits or Medicare coverage.

Immigrants who are legally allowed to work can receive Social Security retirement benefits, but only after they've worked and paid Social Security taxes for 10 years — a positive, not a negative, for Social Security's overall fiscal sustainability.

They're going to show that tonight... during the NFL Kickoff game featuring the Chiefs/Ravens? The two teams in the AFC title game last year?

    Yep... chicken... BAAAAAAAAAAHK-bahk-bahk-bahk... Ba-KAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!!! 🐓

  8. by HatetheSwamp on September 5, 2024 1:56 pm

I thought about that, too. But, c'mon, gimme a break, man!

The game's on EFFINpeacock! People ain't watching it.

  9. by Curt_Anderson on September 5, 2024 3:20 pm
Actually, HtS, the NFL kickoff game is scheduled for tonight, Sept. 5, kicking off at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC (and Telemundo) and streaming live on Peacock.

  10. by Indy! on September 5, 2024 3:54 pm

The NFL is not ready to give up the fan favorite games to the pay channels yet. This is the season kickoff - if they made people pay they'd lose a ton of fans. But that's where we're headed eventually. Better learn how to stream now if you're a fan.

    Indy,
I hope you are wrong about the NFL.

I am old enough to remember when boxing was aired on broadcast TV. Howard Cosell called many of the bouts. I used to know a lot of boxers, Ali, Frazier (of course) but lesser pugilists like Jerry Quarry and Earnie Shavers. I also was familiar with the lighter weight boxers. Then boxing vanished from Network TV and became strictly pay-for-view events.

Now I could not tell you who any of the title-holders or top boxers are. If I am any indication, I don't think people follow boxing like they did 40+ years ago.

  12. by Indy! on September 5, 2024 5:46 pm

UFC and MMA killed boxing. My partner in the sports pub was British and he loved boxing - so we covered it far more than reader interest demanded. However, because he was still on top of the sport we ended up getting a few scoops on the local newspapers because they were sleeping on the job. Anyway - yes, I remember those big bouts. We'd have a bunch people over and toss a buck or two into a kitty to bet on which round the guy got knocked out. My favorite boxer was Marvelous Marvin Hagler - middleweight champ for a few years back in the day.

Somewhat interesting sidebar: Angelo Dundee lived on my street at one time.

    1. Great game to kick off the NFL season.

    2. Hannity did show Townhall questions.

Imo, Trump should stop the rallies and hold one of these Townhalls in a large venue every day. He's very effective. His naturally gregarious nature comes through... AND... the lies that po and Donna tell about MAGAs are debunked to h€ll.

Those mommies and daddies and nannas and pappaps who merely want to restore America are his greatest asset.

I thought he did well also. There were a couple of questions that he needed extra time on, but he was given a subject and stuck to it pretty well. AND (here's the kicker) he actually articulated solutions to problems😱.

It was also interesting that he explained his choices in his administration the first go around. He was pretty blunt about that and admitted that he "thought" they were good people, and then they weren't. So now that he knows what to look for, it's going to make the decisions better. I think the fact that he said, "it was a learning process" is huge for a politician. Had kammie just done that, she'd be a lot better now.

Oh, do you remember kk? I guess he's been put out to pasture for a bit. Maybe too volatile? Too much bad press? No one's seen him for awhile... I don't mind that, because the GOP can concentrate on kammie and the complete fiasco the past four years have been.
