(NPR)Two members of Donald Trump's campaign staff had a verbal and physical altercation Monday with an official at Arlington National Cemetery, where the former president participated in a wreath-laying ceremony, NPR has learned.

A source with knowledge of the incident said the cemetery official tried to prevent Trump staffers from filming and photographing in a section where recent U.S. casualties are buried.

"Federal law prohibits political campaign or election-related activities within Army National Military Cemeteries, to include photographers, content creators or any other persons attending for purposes, or in direct support of a partisan political candidate's campaign," according to the statement. "Arlington National Cemetery reinforced and widely shared this law and its prohibitions with all participants."

In a statement to NPR, Steven Cheung, the Trump campaign's spokesman, strongly rejected the notion of a physical altercation, adding: "We are prepared to release footage if such defamatory claims are made.

"The fact is that a private photographer was permitted on the premises and for whatever reason an unnamed individual, clearly suffering from a mental health episode, decided to physically block members of President Trump's team during a very solemn ceremony," Cheung said in the statement.

The Trump campaign declined to make that footage immediately available.

In a statement to NPR, Arlington National Cemetery said it "can confirm there was an incident, and a report was filed."

That's a typical morning read for curt. And, I'll admit NPR used to be pretty even handed. It's really gone downhill though in reliability. With them, I don't question that "something" happened, and I doubt the specifics because of their history. I would generally check out other sources to see. I do that a lot though, so it's nothing new to me. I'll only use it when there are other places that have a pretty close story.

Trump was dishonoring our fallen veterans again.

    From The Guardian article:

"Following the wreath-laying, photographs from his visit showed Trump grinning and flashing a thumbs-up sign as he stood at the graves of several of the fallen military members, imagery that drew swift rebuke.

'The hallowed grounds of Arlington National Cemetery are the final resting place of our American heroes. Trump defiled Arlington National Cemetery by doing a crass campaign stunt over the grave of a dead hero. And his campaign staff acted like bullies,' the Democratic California congressman Ted Lieu posted to X.

And btw, I saw that photo last night. Disgusting.

So in this case. It wasn't worth my time. They're just here to make y'all feel good about yourselves as KK gets wrung out to dry. and kammy's next.

What I know is that Fox was bragging on Trump all that day....and

...this is classic Curt's Holy Trinity and po's metaphorical Rachel. "That feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap" lost political points because they blew off the memory of our fallen.

This is a cheap shot and, apart from wokes and TDSers, Trump won another one.

I could be wrong, but I don't think headlines and reports about an Arlington altercation and photos taken illegally there is the sort of story a campaign wants in the final two months of an election campaign. I wonder if the Trump campaign ads of him posing and posturing at Arlington were finished.

Trump tries to clean up mess from possibly illegal cemetery photo op

In the end, sitting in his jail cell wondering how things went so wrong... Trump is going to regret listening to the Clintons and running for president. He put himself on the authorities radar where they had to do something about him.

  14. by Curt_Anderson on August 28, 2024 11:48 am
This is an especially bad story for Trump. It reinforces what we knew or suspected about Trump in that "Col. Bonespurs" disrespects members of the military, veterans, war casualties or as he calls them "losers".

It's another distraction and another day lost when there aren't many days left before people begin voting by mail/absentee in some states.

It also makes Trump's denigrating Walz's military record seem disingenuous.

  27. by oldedude on August 28, 2024 9:30 pm
And here's the rest of the story...

The Gold Star families of those murdered during the rout in Afghanistan invited trumpster to lay a wreath and do some photos with the families at the tombstones of those murdered. However, a Gold Star family told the Caller that Arlington National Cemetery was trying to make it difficult for the former President to appear for the ceremony to honor their children, something the families requested. Arlington National Cemetery told gold star families that they could only be there for a specific time that did not work for everyone’s schedule and were also told the president could not join them at their children’s gravesites, the family told the Caller.

“This administration absolutely interfered with the tributes to the 13 fallen. In its war on Trump, it made the Gold Star families collateral damage,” Issa told the Caller.

“Our office worked with Arlington National Cemetery to move the time of the event, to a time that would accommodate the attendance of President Trump. That was done as a request by the families to this office, as they were not receiving that assistance from Arlington National Cemetery.”

“Arlington Cemetery officials claimed the families didn’t want any media, photography, or videography at Section 60, contradicting what the families had actually requested. The families were fine with the media, designated by the Trump team, but Arlington kept pushing back, obstructing the process,” the source continued. “This would have not happened without Speaker Johnson.”

This is an especially bad story for the little germans. It reinforces what we knew or suspected about them in that they continually disrespect members of the military, veterans, war casualties or as they calls them "losers".

No surprise here. There is only the story the leftist media wanted you to see. And you suckers fell for it WITHOUT Hesitation! Anything for a buck, eh?

The families did everything correctly. They knew the drill. They knew they needed authorization from the cemetery. They got all the things the cemetery told them they needed. They knew they had to be careful out of respect. They asked him to be there because they didn't want anyone from the pedojoe administration around when the families honor their dead.

It was the good little german assholes that created this for the media. They assisted the good little german media by LYING TO THEM and LYING ABOUT THE FAMILIES. And without the speaker of the house stepping in? The gestapo guards would have gotten away with it. I hope you all feel thoroughly embarrassed about listening to curt's trifecta of propaganda.

Again. There's no way you can feel bad about eviscerating kammy's kuck after this.

And contrary to indy's view this is nothing more than a borat skit, we're dealing with real human beings. Families who's loved ones and children were set up by the government to be murdered. This is just a small example of how the left despises the military, law enforcement, veterans, and the fallen. They use them for a stage show, in something that was a private matter. Some time trumpster took out of his schedule to help these folks honor their dead at the families request. It is interesting that two of the families didn't even want pedojoe to receive their loved ones when they got to the states and opted for private return without having to see anyone in the administration's face.

  30. by Donna on August 29, 2024 9:16 am

The law, which Donald Bonespurs clearly broke, couldn't be more clear:

"Federal law prohibits political campaign or election-related activities within Army National Military Cemeteries, to include photographers, content creators or any other persons attending for purposes, or in direct support of a partisan political candidate's campaign," according to the statement. "Arlington National Cemetery reinforced and widely shared this law and its prohibitions with all participants."

No one, including family members of fallen veterans, get to override that law.

I think it's shameful that you of all people continue to make excuses for the adjuducated sexual predator that continues to dishonor our veterans.

  31. by HatetheSwamp on August 29, 2024 9:25 am

On Fox, they're reporting that Trump's team requested, and received permission, to bring a photographer to the event.

I'm really sorry that you didn't read that the FAMILIES WERE CLEARED FOR ALL THE ACTIONS BY THE ARLINGTON CEMETARY BEFORE THE DAY OF THE CEREMONY. THE CEMETARY RENIGED AND LIED ABOUT THE APPROVALS.

I'm really sorry (but not surprised in the least) that you can't see any fucking humanity in your soul for these families. For most of the families in this murder, they can't see their loved ones when they got back. The instructions to them is "THESE REMAINS ARE NOT RECOMMENDED FOR VIEWING." You're so hamstrung on your TDS, nothing else matters to you.

  33. by oldedude on August 29, 2024 9:38 am
Lead. YES. The entire process was cleared and approved. It was a done deal if everyone would have kept their word. My thought is that it was a purposeful setup from the a**holes that just want the gotcha moments (including our own).

The thing is that I don't really care about trumpster. That to me, isn't the story. The story should be about the dead and the families. Again, two families refused the bodies to be received by pedojoe and kammy et.al. THAT says volumes. But the history of the dims (obomber & pedojoe especially) have been miserable in their official duties of receiving the dead.

The a**holes at Arlington ought to be drawn and quartered for screwing this up like they purposefully did. But apparently, they have the full support of the sheeple. I guess that's no surprise after 10/8 and their reaction (or non-reaction).

  34. by Curt_Anderson on August 29, 2024 9:40 am
The Trump campaign was warned about not taking photographs in Section 60 before their arrival and the altercation. Section 60 is where the recently deceased are buried. Federal law says Arlington cannot be used as a backdrop for political advertising—-like Trump’s Tik Tok campaign videos.

  35. by oldedude on August 29, 2024 9:46 am
You didn't read anything but your own voice have you.😞

That was during the fiasco when Arlington disavowed any knowledge of the families having all the paperwork done BEFOREHAND. That's the set up, stupid. OMFG🙄

What you're talking about got "cleared up" when Johnson called and "talked" to them. So that part of the episode is a moot point.

  36. by Curt_Anderson on August 29, 2024 10:42 am
    Od,
A call from Mike Johnson doesn't undo federal law which prohibits using Arlington for commercial or political advertising.

'Furious': Veterans slam Trump team's altercation at Arlington National Cemetery

For Trump nothing is sacred. Does it really require a cemetery official or federal law to tell a person that using Arlington Cemetery for political commercials and stunts is wrong?

You have heard that Trump bragged that for 18 months no service members died in Afghanistan before Abbey Gate. He ignores the 90 who died during his term before the 18 month cease fire.

Under Biden's watch, NO service members were killed in Afghanistan during the last three years.
    usatoday.com

  37. by HatetheSwamp on August 29, 2024 10:49 am

The fact that the families invited Trump and that Kammy blew off any sort of observance of the tragedy? This is a political win for Trump, no matter how much the woke SwampMedia tries to change the story.

Of course, Kammy was hunkered down preparing to be grilled by Dana Bash. Bahaha.

  38. by Curt_Anderson on August 29, 2024 10:55 am
    HtS,
2500 American soldiers died in Afghanistan. The last 13 who died are no more important or loved by their families more than all those who proceeded them. If you want to blame a president for all those casualties, blame the president who first sent troops there 23 years ago, not the president who finally pulled the plug.

This Arlington debacle is a political loss for Trump. It's another unforced error.

  39. by Indy! on August 29, 2024 11:27 am
This is what the Fox crowd does not understand. You don't keep throwing more soldiers at the problem when you can't even define what 'victory' means. Remember that? The MIC was asked repeatedly "How do we 'win' this war?" and they had no answers except more of the same. They wanted us there for our lifetimes, our childrens' lifetimes, our grandchildrens'... etc... And in the end? The Taliban still would have taken over when we left.

According to who, the family spokespersons? They certainly weren't cleared for Trump's photo-op, because that is expressedly forbidden. If Trump simply accompanied the families, there'd have been nothing improper about that, but I'd bet my bottom dollar that Arlinton Cemetary officials didn't okay the photo-op.

  41. by oldedude on August 29, 2024 2:18 pm
A call from Mike Johnson doesn't undo federal law which prohibits using Arlington for commercial or political advertising.

FIRST- It's NOT a federal law. trumpster was invited by the families as a person to honor those murdered a year ago. That is a "rule" with Arlington National Cemetery. A rule, like all, that can be waived if you clear it through the cemetery (which was done). So how could the families get through the red tape if the cemetery thought it was a campaign ruse? They're bureaucrats. They're good little germans also. They would have denied the request and explained it. Then shut the glass between them and told them to go on their way. That would have been done at the beginning of the request.

Again, being a great little german (I almost used the other term, because your adherence to your masters' is getting past the "guard at Treblinka" point.

What happened is that you were duped. Hornswoggled. Hoodwinked. LIED TO by your media sources. You were set up by them to play on your unhealthy hatred of trumpster. What wasn't known by your "media" sources was that background to this.

That the families have been through the bureaucratic rules of Arlington. They've had their children buried there. A true honor (unexpected for the pedojoe "administration"). It isn't me writing the "rest of the story." It's the real victims in this. The families that you squawked about, but really don't give two shits about.

All of you jumped on the homer bandwagon, bleated and grunted (like the sheep and pigs you are) about how this was an "abomination of the true American values that we must adhere to protect the honor of those that have served,,," bullshit. None of you care about that. You only care about one thing at ANY cost. trumpster. Even if you lack any integrity whatsoever when you do it.

The photo-op is what this controversy is about, not families inviting him to join them while they honor their dead loved ones.

"A call from Mike Johnson doesn't undo federal law which prohibits using Arlington for commercial or political advertising." (quoting me)

FIRST- It's NOT a federal law... ---OD

Let me stop you right there. It IS federal law.

    Code of Federal Regulations
§ 553.32 Conduct of memorial services and ceremonies.
Memorial services and ceremonies at Army National Military Cemeteries will not include partisan political activities.

    (8) Filming or photographing will not be permitted if it conveys the impression that cemetery officials or any visitor or family member is endorsing any product, service or organization. Additionally, ANC will not authorize any filming for partisan, political or fundraising purposes, in accordance with the Hatch Act, 32 CFR 553, and AR 360-1.

§ 553.32 Conduct of memorial services and ceremonies.
    Specifically, no person shall:
Engage in any disrespectful or disorderly conduct within an Army National Military Cemetery.

The military chimed in and they were not on Pharoah Fatso's side.

Arlington Cemetery officials stand behind their employee who tried to stop Trump from denigrating our brave veteran soldiers.

That's 2 for 2. Looks like the pr win goes to (again)... Kamala.

    Curt,
I'm sure you've been there several times, secretly pissing on graves, but you don't consider that dishonorable... It's just a day in the life for you.

People take pictures of graves all the time, in front of workers at Arlington. That's not any secret, and you're allowed to do that. Families taking pictures of their loved one's grave has also been done in front of the workers.

    So here's where we're at.
    Define dishonorable.
You hate trumpster with all your being. Therefore, anything he does is disrespectful and dishonorable.

One of my retirements was during the obomber era. I have my certificate of retirement with his signature on it. It is facing backward and upside down behind my other certificate. I do this purposefully and with malice.

So honestly, it's a difference between a person the family admires, and you spend alot of energy hating. I've also heard of Senator's and Congress members being invited to the burials of servicepersons buried there. They do take pictures, just to say there to support the veteran and the family.

I don't see this as a "campaign stop" at all. And honestly, no one would have actually known about it (until afterwards) if the psychobitch wouldn't have done anything. She turned it into a "campaign stop" by drawing attention to him.

I think we can argue all day long and not get anywhere. Trumpster doesn't live in my head. I don't give any energy to him, kammy, or kk. It's not worth my time. Apparently hating people is worth yours.

My sense is that Trump's acceptance of the invitation from families of Abbey Gate victims was a political victory for Trump on the day and that the petty handwringing by the woke SwampMedia since then has only served to frame Trump as a man who has compassion for real people... abused by the Swamp and the military industrial complex.

Of course the woke... po and Curt and Donna et.al.... are pi$$ed, but they are eternally enraged at Trump. What are they going to do? Vote 10 times against Trump instead of 7?

But, the 5 to 8 percent who will settle the election? I think this is a big win for the Orange Turd.

I am so fuckingsick to death of this fuckingscofflaw degenerate wiping his fuckingass with the law and is brain-dead, sycophantic followers making asinine excuses for him like he alone is some kind of god who is above the law.

Bill, od... you both are stupid, lying, unamerican, pig-ignorant idiots who care more about giving your sacred messiah propagandistic blowjobs than the survival of our country.

    Fuckyou both very much.

    po,

pb's only point is that MAGAs are worshipping Trump for his patriotism and sensitivity and that you woke TDS lot are riled because Trump proved AGAIN that he is unpatriotic and insensitive...

... and that, whether you like it or not, pb thinks that the small minority of moderate and independent common sense voters will identify with Trump on this and not "that feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap" and Kammy who chose to ignore the suffering of the Abbey Gate victims and their families.

  50. by Indy! on August 30, 2024 11:06 am

"pb thinks"... Good one, pb. 😂

  51. by oldedude on August 30, 2024 1:58 pm
po- I served 40 fucking years to protect this country from it turning into a third world shithole that I've lived in. It's a really poor choice this year, but the options aren't realistic to keep our constitution any other way.

    Yes. It's that simple.

  52. by oldedude on August 30, 2024 2:04 pm
The photo-op is what this controversy is about, not families inviting him to join them while they honor their dead loved ones.

So you're calling the families of their dead loved ones BALD FACE LIARS? They said the entire process was cleared with the cemetery. I know they know the rules, far better than anyone on this site, including me. They had their children buried there. THEY had to jump through the hoops and painstakingly arrange the caisson, what they can and can't do. What everything meant in a military funeral. What to do, how to do it. My guess is they had a member of the guards brief them about protocol on the site. They KNEW. They said they cleared all of it.

  53. by Indy! on August 30, 2024 2:31 pm

So Arlington said it was okay for the family to push around Arlington officials? Seems kind of sketchy to me, Odie. 🤔

  54. by Donna on August 31, 2024 12:04 am

"So you're calling the families of their dead loved ones BALD FACE LIARS?" - o.d.

I don't believe that Trump's photo-op was approved by Arlington Cemetary personnel.

  55. by HatetheSwamp on August 31, 2024 3:40 am

    Donna,

Does it bother you that neither "that feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap" nor Kammy even bothered to issue a statement of support for the families of the dead?

This is classic. The Dems pulled a boner and are trying to cover up by blaming t'other guy. I support Kammy. I support Kammy. But, c'mon, gimme a break, man!

This is a political winner for Trump. Period.

Donna- So that's a resounding YES.
You're not leaving any error that one person (in good faith and TDS) didn't get the word. got it. Remember, an ex-president of the US is entered the cemetery (no issue there) with a group of families. The logistics alone to for that are immense. No politician enters without an itenary (so secret service and the agency know what's up). I could go on with that fantasy, but I'll just stop.

I honestly don't think the pedojoe administration was invited or cared about any of the dead, or any of the dims/liberals. They just use them for political stage props. kammy talked about how horrible it was that trumpster did that, but like you said. She's nowhere near doing anything to honor them. The other piece of this was that he was invited to the tomb of the unknown by the National American Legion, which are also pictures that trumpster "dishonored" the military dead." I find that funny, because you get scheduled with a time and date and are briefed by the NCOIC or Commander of the Guards beforehand. It's a big deal. But for the unknowing TDSrs, it's all part of the same thing. That is something that would have been on trumpsters itinerary. After that, what I said to donna applies.

  57. by HatetheSwamp on August 31, 2024 7:51 am

Y'know, OD, "that feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap" and his minions have been hyper defensive since the extent of Joe's Afghanistan withdrawal disaster became apparent.

What Trump and his crew did, making as much of it as you can, even if you exaggerate, can't compare to Joe's deed itself,... nor the lack of sympathy shown to the families of the fallen by Kammy and Joe since.

pb still contends that moderate and independent common sense voters fully understand that.

  58. by oldedude on August 31, 2024 9:47 am
Around the circles of veterans I know. I haven't seen the hatred of a president like this since obomber, when he imprisoned several military members for keeping their people alive. He gave the Taliban the ground rules and the taliban played that to the tee. They were much more successful than anyone. Lots of martyrs (always a positive), the US military was demoralized (mark off that check mark), and turned the military against obomber. They still remember what happened there. And the military, like the Irish, have a very long memory. pedojoe isn't quit that bad, he's just a dim. And not in the form of a JFK. More like cliton and carter (no pay, more woke, things to demoralize the military in the name of the dims).

  59. by Indy! on August 31, 2024 10:47 am

Surprise, surprise... the sado-masochists dumb enough to sign up to get killed hate this president as much as they hated the last D president. Party fealty among wingnuts is a relevation to Odorous. 😂

  60. by oldedude on August 31, 2024 12:02 pm
And there were issues with Bush, but you didn't bother to read that. As usual.

  61. by Indy! on August 31, 2024 2:40 pm

Bush is not mentioned at all in your post (#58).

  62. by oldedude on August 31, 2024 6:49 pm
shoulda been. I'm not chicken shitting you. at all. There's plenty of blame to go around. And of course, you missed my point. Which you'll say you didn't get. so there's that. Regardless of mentioning bush or not. Again, you moved the goalposts and blamed someone else. This is your usual 12 year old mo.

It's like asking a kid. "did you break the window?" the answer will be, "but Tommy told me to!" I might actually get some respect for you if you could just say "yes."

  63. by Indy! on September 1, 2024 12:46 am
So again - Bush was not mentioned at all in your post. 😂

  64. by oldedude on September 1, 2024 12:59 am
I addressed that. You're too stupid to read it.

  65. by Indy! on September 1, 2024 11:48 am

You're too dumb to know when you've lost the argument 4 posts up.
