Some climate news. Mostly US.

Since the Inflation Reduction Act, 334,000 new Green Energy jobs have been created in the USA.

Sodium/Ion batteries are proving successful and they do not require the Rare Lithium, Copper, or Manganese. They also appear to have other advantages. I believe there are questions about range that are not mentioned.

2.6 GW offshore wind farm project. That, btw, would be enough to power 2 - 3 million average homes.

And more.

I tend to agree with you. I don't think any single source of energy is the answer. It's going to take a mix that aren't centralized into "pods" as they are now.

The US has really been trying to get windmills off the coast of the Hampdens. A perfect place for winds apparently. The issue is the locals (read very rich liberals) don't want them to "ruin the view."

I have solar on my house. The list of bureaucratic nonsense is horrible. The bureaucrats have really taken hold of this. We still have to pay a "service fee" every month to have the pleasure of having solar. Yes, we're getting paid back for the solar, and that's good also. AND we have power during storms, so that's a good thing.

Colorado has lots of solar (having more sun days than FL), especially on the eastern plains that is still "Oklahoma land rush" land from the 1890's. It simply can't grow much, and getting water to it is too expensive. So the solar is ensuring the small towns have power that aren't dependent on the major hubs of the grid. That's a boom to them and is cheaper than getting electric out to their location.

When I was a kid in the 70s, my dad built the house we lived in an we had an early version of "solar power" panels on the roof. They didn't create electricity - they just heated the water for the home - but that saved a ton of electricity and money for a large family. That was the mid-70s. I thought for sure within the next 20-25 years EVERYBODY would have something like that. But nope... Reagan came along with his Alzheimer lips glued to Exxon's fat ass and all that went right out the window.

    Good on your dad.

When Reagan removed those solar panels, he was shining a light on his ignorance as well as his self-serving ties to big oil.

...and the MIC. They knew the oil wars were heating up.
