"Nebraska Chamber letter to Tim Walz, 2006 campaign correction resurface

Kennedy recalled the kick-start of the 2006 correction when Tim Walz claimed during a 2006 campaign for Congress that he was named the Outstanding Young Nebraskan by the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce for his service in the education, military, and small business communities.

"I've received several emails," former chamber president Barry Kennedy said Sunday.

Kennedy recalled the kick-start of the 2006 correction when Tim Walz claimed during a 2006 campaign for Congress that he was named the Outstanding Young Nebraskan by the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce for his service in the education, military, and small business communities.

The chamber chair then wrote to the soon-to-be Minnesota congressman.

"We respectfully request that you remove any reference to our organization as it could be considered an endorsement of your candidacy," the 2006 letter said."

Whadaloser!

I always wince when I see things like this. It's self-inflicted and will fester with the rest of the wounds. The true little germans will not relent though. They will always defend to the death whomever they're told to. Lying is part of their process. And it's a double standard.

I'm not saying the GOP doesn't have double standards also, but as we've seen here, we're talking to the same thinking (just reversed) as the protest leaders did on J6. I think the surprise to them is that if you're a member of antifada, or the palestinian movement, you don't get arrested for long. J6 is spending years in jail for misdemeanors.

I do think it's interesting though, that KK is going through the same public vetting as the dims have continually put trumpster through for over eight years. The GOP found their wounded gazelle as if kammy wasn't enough. And this is fresh meat.

  2. by HatetheSwamp on August 26, 2024 7:36 am

    OD,

Let me start off with two words... yada yada yada.

As of this moment, Trump is up 50/49 over KK on Polymarket... even after that Coronation that'd make the Pope blush... and po and Donna offering themselves Body and Soul to the Arizona Dem Party in service to the Dem Queen. And, I get it that the most radically woke, progressive and TDS are thrilled in about the same way they were when the Dems, as Rush said, Immaculated, Obama as The ONE.

    But, Kammy ain't Obama.

Obama has a once in a generation charisma. He was able to get moderately lib Dems as excited as the radicals. AND, moderate and independent common sense voters also were happy to get on the bandwagon.

And,... say what you might about the "dithering and diminished" Doddering Old Fool from 020 on, he was a benign choice who worked well, in 08, in balancing Obama's Chicago-ness and progressivism.

But, yikes! Tampon Timmy? For a while, I was considering doing a thread calling him the worst Veep choice since Dan Quayle...

...but, not n'more. Based on what we know now, that comparison would be a vile insult to Quayle.

po and Donna Dems will never understand that... but his long history of telling lie after lie?... the independents who settle elections care about that... and they punish presidential candidates for their poor exercise of judgment in choosing this poorly.

I can easily see how now through Labor Day could be a high water mark for Kammy and this election could be a blowout by November.

Actually Walz was named the Outstanding Young Nebraskan by the Nebraska Junior Chamber of Commerce for his service in the education, military, and small business communities.

Given Trump’s only foray into education is the scam known as Trump University, his military career was nipped in the bud by bonespurs and his business record consists of a large inheritance followed by bankruptcies and fraud convictions, that would be an award he would never win.

Glad that the record was corrected 18 years ago.

    Dang!, Curt!

You are a really good Good German!

"Actually Walz was named the Outstanding Young Nebraskan by the Nebraska Junior Chamber of Commerce for his service in the education, military, and small business communities." - Curt

Okay, so the lie was that he was awarded by the Nebraska Junior Chamber of Commerce and not the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce? That's what all the fuss is over? LOL!

  6. by Donna on August 26, 2024 8:10 am

    Mine ^

  7. by HatetheSwamp on August 26, 2024 8:18 am

    po,

Were it not for TT's long history of pathologically lying, it'd be nuthin.

  8. by Donna on August 26, 2024 8:20 am

LOL! You guys are the Projection Kings!

  9. by HatetheSwamp on August 26, 2024 8:22 am

    Which guys?

  10. by Indy! on August 26, 2024 11:02 am

2006 some Nebraska organization asked him to remove from his campaign info the actual, verifiable fact he won some meaningless award from them 20 years ago? And this is a big deal to the Rs... why? Because their R group apparently gave the award to a D by mistake? Yes it definitely sounds "self-inflicted" and I'm sure "it ill fester with the rest of the wounds" (or "wounds")... the Fox crowd thinks they've inflicted on someone.

  11. by HatetheSwamp on August 26, 2024 1:22 pm

Yeah, meagain. Who cares about national leaders being people of honesty and character and integrity. That's how we almost got Hillary.

  12. by Indy! on August 26, 2024 2:44 pm

    Definitely how we got Trump.

  13. by HatetheSwamp on August 26, 2024 2:59 pm

    Indy,

Do you mean that, when it came down to Trump and Hillary, America chose Trump as the more honest of the two?

    Yup

  14. by Indy! on August 26, 2024 3:24 pm

You seem to think that is some kind of win. Hillary and Trump are both trash. The only difference is one of us voted for them and I didn't. 😘

  15. by HatetheSwamp on August 26, 2024 3:39 pm

    Amen, bruh.

As a GOP, I opposed Trump being the nominee and we both know about the Dem smoke-filled room foisting Hillary on the party.

And, this year's choice is worse.

    Amen.

  20. by Indy! on August 27, 2024 10:46 am

I've seen you use Politico many times as a source over the years - here's an article from Politico, written by the former DNC chair who has run more than one campaign herself. Here is the key quote from the article which is all we need here, but may I suggest you take a moment and get educated on the whole story?

"As Hillary’s campaign gained momentum, she resolved the party’s debt and put it on a starvation diet. It had become dependent on her campaign for survival, for which she expected to wield control of its operations."

    Was this legal? Not really...

"...He described the party as fully under the control of Hillary’s campaign, which seemed to confirm the suspicions of the Bernie camp. The campaign had the DNC on life support, giving it money every month to meet its basic expenses, while the campaign was using the party as a fund-raising clearinghouse. Under FEC law, an individual can contribute a maximum of $2,700 directly to a presidential campaign. But the limits are much higher for contributions to state parties and a party’s national committee."

    Much, MUCH more here...

  21. by Donna on August 27, 2024 10:50 am

I think you need to get over your obsession with Hillary, Indy! She didn't become a rockstar in the party overnight. Like her or despise her, her credentials were extensive and impeccable when she ran for president. So it's kinda silly to think that the party wouldn't have rallied around her like they did in 2016. I was surprised that Bernie did as well as he did challenging her.

  22. by Indy! on August 27, 2024 10:58 am

I didn't say anything about that. My point was she paid off the DNC debt and then basically took control of the party. The DNC chair herself said so. And I think it's pretty hyperbolic to pretend like I have an "obsession" with Hillary. Peebs brought her up - not me. I just brought the facts as always.

And Hillary(!)... a "rockstar"? Please. She had ZERO enthusiasm in her campaign. She was the 2016 version of 2024 Biden - NOBODY wanted her. She pushed her way to the front just like Trump using her cash and bully tactics with the party. Why you still defend her WHEN SHE GAVE US TRUMP? I do not know.

  23. by Donna on August 27, 2024 11:06 am

Actually most Americans voted for her. I think she won the popular vote by several million votes. If not for our very undemocratic electoral college, she would have become America's 45th president instead of the convicted sexual predator who dishonors our veterans.

(Vox)Within a few days, both Brazile and Warren walked their statements all the way back. Brazile now says she found “no evidence” the primary was rigged. Warren now says that though there was “some bias” within the DNC, “the overall 2016 primary process was fair.” (snip)

The irony is that Sanders was a prime beneficiary of this bias, not a victim of it. The losers were potential candidates like Vice President Joe Biden, Sen. Warren, or Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper — and, thus, Democratic primary voters, who ended up with few choices in 2016. To the extent Democratic primary voters feel like they were denied a broad range of candidates in 2016, and that party officials tried to clear the field to coronate Clinton, well, they’re right.

(NPR)A Democratic official who has reviewed the document pointed out that in addition to the Clinton signoffs Brazile characterized, it included language stating that "nothing in this agreement shall be construed to violate the DNC's obligation of impartiality and neutrality through the Nominating process" and that "all activities performed under this agreement will be focused exclusively on preparations for the General Election and not the Democratic Primary."

The agreement also noted that the DNC "may enter into similar agreements with other candidates." (Read the full memo below.) (snip)

Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook appeared on CNN Friday night and called "laughable" assertions that the agreement rigged the primary against Sanders. Among other things, he pointed to the fact that the memo states that joint efforts were to be focused on the general election.

"The DNC came to our campaign and said, 'We need help. We're not prepared for the general election,'" Mook said. Regarding the fact that the memo gave the Clinton campaign a role in communications hiring, Mook added, "The purpose of the DNC while a primary is going on is to hold Republican candidates accountable, and nobody was filling that post." He also insisted that the Sanders campaign had the ability to enter into a similar arrangement with the party.

Getting back to the original topic of this thread...

So Tim Walz was named Outstanding Young Nebraskan by the Nebraska Junior Chamber of Commerce, not by the Chamber of Commerce and MAGA cultists would have us believe this an example of "stolen valor".

The Junior Chamber of Commerce is better known as the Jaycees. The Jaycees are a perfectly fine non-political organization that has "service to humanity" as part of its code. The US Chamber of Commerce, and I assume the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce, is a pro-business, pro-corporation organization.

When this was originally issue, some 20 years ago, the Walz campaign corrected what they said was a "typo". I cannot imagine that many people would think it is a greater honor to be named by "Outstanding Young Nebraskan" by Nebraska Chamber of Commerce than by the Nebraska Jaycee.

  26. by Indy! on August 27, 2024 1:17 pm

    "She won the popular vote"

Which means nothing except she was the only option other than THE WINNER - Trump.

I made my point and backed it up with THE DNC'S OWN CHAIRPERSON and your favorite media source. I understand you two do not like the reality of 2016 - but see if you can remember who warned you at the time that 2016 was going to happen. 🙄

  27. by Indy! on August 27, 2024 1:20 pm

Almost sorry I skimmed Curt's novella...

    Insert Indy laughtrack here.

When Curt buys political doublespeak nonsense like this - I really start to wonder if he doesn't have a couple brain worms running around upstairs like RFKJ too. Hillary promises... she really, really, really promises not to be impartial. Good freakin' lord. 🙄

  28. by oldedude on August 28, 2024 9:11 am
    Curt- a couple of things.

He used this in his campaign. He didn't change it until he was threatened by the NCC because they did NOT endorse him. At all.

I think it's only fair the GOP dig up things anywhere in his past just like the dims lied about Kavanaugh (et.al). Don't whine when the ploys you've used are used against you. Suck it up. And the GOP still hasn't forgotten the dreaded "Steele dossier." There's lots of payback there the dims need to get ready for.

Lead- The citation is "only" about what KK did during COVID and why even the dems voted against his use of over-reach. If you bring up his wrong-doings, you're going to have to put it into chapters. This "guy" is just like pedojoe in the story arena, and I think there's a lot of corruption there with funneling tax dollars to shelf companies. My guess is they were donors, but of course, I'd have to see the federal banking records for that.

    OD,
Confusing the Nebraska Junior Chamber of Commerce with the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce is staffer's misunderstanding or a typo. It's not a lie, as it is not a more prestigious honor to be considered "outstanding" by the NE CC versus the NE Jaycees.

Lying is making up phony covers of Time magazine and using them to impress guests at your golf clubs and resorts.

  30. by Indy! on August 28, 2024 10:24 am

You're quite amusing, OD - but allow me to fill you in on the reason why nobody cares... Since you've (allegedly) spent your life in the military - you obviously have no idea what a "Chamber of Commerce" actually does - which is nothing. It's a place for failed corporate middle managers to pretend like they're doing something for local business when really all they're doing is collecting dues from people dumb enough to pay them and occasionally doing a little something for charity like sending some sick kid to DisneyWorld. It's a scam - that's why they're dying out everywhere.

"I've received several emails," former chamber president Barry Kennedy said Sunday.

Let's see... we have OD, his wife and PB and his wife... I think that qualifies as "several".

  31. by Indy! on August 28, 2024 10:25 am

Oh - forgot. The reason Tim keeps misidentifying the Chamber is because he probably tossed that award the day after he got it.

  32. by oldedude on August 28, 2024 8:37 pm
Obviously he didn't. He used it in his campaign (for the third time). You really need to read posts before you make a (bigger) fool of yourself.

Just a question again... How can you actually hate everyone in the world? I've never seen you write anything positive about any other human being ever. I'd find it a very poor existence with a life full of hatred. Again, it's a mommy/daddy issue that you have to feel everyone in the world is against you. It's extremely paranoid. But it explains a lot!

  33. by Indy! on August 28, 2024 9:49 pm

You see what you want to see, OD.
