It's possible that RFK Jr's endorsement of Trump will result in some of that 3 or 4% who support Kennedy to move over to Trump. As discussed elsewhere on these pages, the former Kennedy supporters will also move to Harris, other third party candidates or not vote at all. Since Kennedy is on the ballot in just a handful of states, we are talking at most a fraction of percent that Trump might gain from the endorsement. It's not much of endorsement since RFK Jr. shopped it around and was rejected by Harris, not to mention Kennedy just told his supporters to vote for him anyway.

It is also possible that low-information Republicans (there are a lot of them!) who represent nearly half the electorate and intended to vote for Trump might be turned off by Trump's unholy alliance with a "Democrat". Especially one as comically delusional as RFK Jr. Trump is on every states' ballot. Any loss in Trump support as a result of his joining forces with Kennedy would be bigger loss than any potential gain.

I'm thinking not as many as the dims would want after how they treated RFKJ. Anyone that was going to vote for him knows how the dims threw him out like the garbage. Much worse than burnie.

  2. by meagain on August 24, 2024 12:22 pm
I read this morning that his family have also just about thrown him out accusing of betraying everything the family has stood for.

  3. by Indy! on August 24, 2024 12:24 pm

The family dropped a tweet or something saying they were very disappointed in RFKJ and that his views were diametrically opposed to the family's.

I think his "support" borders on worthless in this race. It's the future vs Fat Boy and nothing else matters.

Yes, and they issued a signed statement. Not only is rfkJR an embarrassment to the Kennedy family - he's also an embarrassment to America, as is Trump.

    Jonathan Turley:

"Kennedy's endorsement of Trump should be a wake up call for the Democratic Party. The fact is that new Republicans are often not the product of ideology and association but anxiety and exclusion. Democrats make Republicans...

......the red pill/blue pill pitch is not going to be enough for long-time Democrats who have watched the party embrace censorship and identity politics as defining causes while demonizing opposing voices."

    Preach it, bruh!

Turley's opinion in this matter is about as worthless as Trump's. He's a hardcore MAGAt.

  7. by Indy! on August 25, 2024 12:44 pm

Oh - forgot. Not surprised he's your "bruh", peebs because... what were those two words? Oh yeah - You support Trump - you support Trump!

Well, HtS, we will just have to wait for the polls taken after Kennedy endorsed Trump to see if Turley is right or that the brain-worm and its host won't gain Trump any votes.

Think of it mathematically. Say Trump has the support of about 45% of voters and Kennedy has about 4.5% support. Some of them will be happy with the alliance, others will be suspicious and displeased. Kennedy and Trump exchanged insults. Trump recently called Kennedy a "leftwing lunatic". So it's not an automatic that Kennedy supporters will embrace Trump or Trump supporters will welcome Kennedy.

The voters in the RFK Jr. camp preferred their guy and/or were "double-haters". When Biden left the field, many of those double-haters moved to Harris. Kennedy's endorsement doesn't make them no longer hate Trump. A good number of them will feel betrayed by Kennedy.

Let's say Kennedy can somehow convince a 33% of this supporters to vote for Trump, with the other two thirds either moving to another candidate, not voting or doing what Kennedy suggested and vote for Kennedy anyway. That would be about 1.5% more votes for Trump (minus any that move to Harris)

On the Trump side, as I said, some will like it, some won't. Those Trump supporters who like the alliance, are already in the Trump camp, so that is no gain. Maybe a only a few Trump supporters are turned off by Trump teaming up with the bear carcass aficionado, say only three percent; that's also about 1.5%. Their defection just cost Trump as many votes has he might have gained.

In the end, the overriding Indy Rule will prevail...

ALL the GOPers will vote Trump - ALL of them.

The Ds will get whoever they MOTIVATE. The key to their winning is ENTHUSIASM and right now they are WAY out front of the Rs in that department.

The rfkJR supporters I knew on Facebook definitely won't be voting for Trump.

jr offered his endorsement to Kamala first... on the condition that she awarded him a cabinet post in her administration. After Kamala didn't accept his offer, jr whored himself out to the veteran-hating convicted sexual predator, who has never turned down an offer from a whore (see: JD Vance).

    NY Times:

Kennedy Sought a Meeting With Harris to Discuss a Cabinet Post

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was unsuccessful with his request to discuss endorsing the Democratic nominee in exchange for a top administration job, according to two people briefed on the outreach

    Donna,
In addition to RFK Jr.'s "endorsement" being sold, Kennedy himself is damaged goods. How many more weird revelations will we learn about Kennedy besides his necrophilia for bear cubs and other roadkill, his nutty anti-vaxxer views which he calls "the war on children", his unpopular views and his conspiracy theories.

  13. by Indy! on August 26, 2024 9:22 am

His impact on the race is already over.

  14. by Donna on August 26, 2024 9:25 am

And what's up with the dark patches on jr's cheeks? He looks like an exhumed corpse.

  15. by Indy! on August 26, 2024 9:43 am
He is. Same with Trump. And Hillary in 2016. All exhumed corpses.

  16. by Curt_Anderson on August 26, 2024 4:01 pm
Kennedy is at about 4% in the polls, As you can see below not many of his supporters hold a favorable view of Trump. Most Kennedy supporters will probably not vote at all. Of those who do vote for someone else, more are likely to vote for Harris than Trump.

Then there is the constant stream of weird RFK Jr. reports, like this one reported today:
RFK Jr.’s Daughter Said He Once Beheaded a Whale with a Chainsaw.

Environmental group calls for investigation of RFK Jr. chainsawing whale head
