I am still on Martha’s Vineyard. Last night a middle aged Black woman gave me cheery hello as we both waited at a restaurant. I complimented her on her Alpha Kappa Alpha shirt, which I remarked was the sorority of “our next president”. She replied with something like, “you got that right!” Later she said to me and my group, “you all be sure to vote!” We replied with an enthusiastic affirmative.
Earlier yesterday, a Black man struck up a conversation with me and my wife. He was from Minnesota. He said Tim Walz was a good governor. We all agreed that we liked Harris and disliked Trump.
There is some sort of reunion currently happening here of the Divine Nine which are the HBCU sororities.
