Based on preliminary votes, it's possible that the GOP will do it. Here's a link, if it works. Sometimes it doesn't. If not, it's easy to find on YouTube:

    Embarassing!

The House on Tuesday failed to impeach Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas over his handling of an influx of migrants across the U.S.-Mexico border.

Why it matters: It's a stunning loss for House Republican leadership after some of their members broke away and voted against impeachment.

As you know, pb doesn't think that impeachment was justified. However, before you hold your celebration party, understand that the GOPs pulled a fast one.

One of the GOP no votes is from Blake Moore, Vice Chair of the House GOP Conference... a member of the House Leadership.

    From Anna Paulina Luna:

"FYSA: Impeachment vote on Mayorkas will be brought back to the floor next week. Moore voted no so that it could be reconsidered next week. It’s a procedural maneuver so it’ll pass next week (pending votes)."

pb doesn't UNDERSTAND the particulars of House rules but GOPs are hopeful that they will win the George Santos seat next week and that they'll get Steve Scalise back from cancer treatment. Then, they'll vote again... and, presumably, win.

I said earlier that Joe Biden might run a Harry Truman-like campaign. Truman ran against "the do-nothing Congress".

Case in point, after bemoaning the asylum seekers and other immigrants who want a better life in America, instead of voting on a border patrol union-approved immigration bill authored by Sen. James Lankford (R-OK) the GOP members of Congress do nothing. Well, not quite nothing they "accomplished" a failed impeachment vote and offered up a resolution that Trump isn't an insurrectionist. Some GOP cultists issued public statements whining that the appeals court didn't give Trump blanket immunity from all crimes.

Good luck running on stalling and then not voting on a border and national security funding bill.

Btw, even if the House Republicans had been successful in impeaching Mayorkas, it would be an exercise in futility as there is no chance 2/3 of the Senate would vote to convict.

All the GOP has managed to do is to lessen the impact and newsworthiness of impeachment. So if James Comer and cronies ever make an impeachment case against Joe Biden, they've already devalued it.

I was working out at the Y and I missed one of the latest GOP House failures...

Mike Johnson, in the first major defeat of his speakership, left the Capitol without taking questions, according to our friends in the Capitol Hill press corps.

Hard-right Republicans are livid and baffled that the House leadership did not seem to know if they had the votes on impeaching Mayorkas.

“I would have thought that they would know that,” Representative Ralph Norman of South Carolina said. “It isn’t that hard.”

Norman laughed when asked how he could explain this vote to his base. “The conservative base is going to have a real problem with this. And they should,” he said. “The conservative base does not deserve this.”

The Israel bill fails, 250 to 180, falling short of the two-thirds majority needed. Two consecutive failures for House Republicans.

But they'll STILL IMPEACH HIM right? Just like trumpster? So we can call that a win just like the dims call trumpster? and say it over and over again? just like trumpster?

This is a small fraction of the bullshit I've heard from the dims regarding trumpster. So I'm going to give it back. Every time I can. I told you there was a "goes around" and a "comes around." Welcome to "cums around." cover your face.

...according to our friends in the Capitol Hill press corps.

    Huh?

    *****

Ain't life in the Swamp grand? At least there's symmetry. That Senate immigration bill fiasco in the Senate is equally amusing.

When Johnson was elected him, pb wished him well... herding cats.
