The number of children reported killed in Gaza during Israel’s military campaign over the past three weeks has surpassed the annual number of children killed in armed conflict globally in each of the past four years, according to Save the Children.

More than 3,000 children have been reported killed in Gaza since October 7 by the enclave's Hamas-controlled health authorities.

A total of 2,985 children were killed across 24 countries in 2022, 2,515 were killed in 2021 and 2,674 in 2020, according to the United Nations secretary general's annual report on children and armed conflict, cited by Save the Children.

In 2019, the UN reported 4,019 children were killed in conflicts around the world.

Save the Children has added its voice to those calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

The latest violence has caused more than 1,200 deaths in Israel and at least 11,255 in Gaza as of Nov. 14, according to authorities on both sides.

(And I took pains to choose a media source that you respect as legitimate, Bill...)

The Save the Children Fund, commonly known as Save the Children, is an international, non-government operated organization. It was founded in the UK in 1919, with the goal of helping improve the lives of children worldwide.

The organization helps to raise money to improve children's lives by creating better educational opportunities, better health care, and improved economic opportunities.

The organization has general consultative status in the United Nations Economic and Social Council.

You're trying in to goad us in to crying for more victims of Hamas. You ought to go for the true enemy. The one that refused to allow their people to leave. I told your wife and it equally applies to you.
Your anti-sematic/ anti Israeli rants do support Hamas though. Hamas, AQ (inclusive), and all the other Radical Islamic groups are counting on your support through the hatred of Isreal to use as propaganda. Again, they're waiting for the useful tool to help overthrow Israelis and commit genocide...
The longer you side with Hamas (moral support is support, as is hating Israel). So they found their little germans, and their hope of some useful idiot would use them in a blog to support them.

    And here you are.

    Two objective truths:

    1. OD is bang on about Hamas.
    2. The United Nations is more antisemitic than the KKK.

    Thanks, and Yes, absolutely.

  4. by Donna on November 15, 2023 10:06 am

If I supported Hamas, I'd tell you flat out.

You two are using us as proxies to vent your disgust at people on the left who truly do support Hamas, who we're disgusted with also.

Now before you lodge the same accusation at us for referring to you guys as MAGAs or Trump supporters, the only reason we say that is because both of you voted for Trump twice and both of you have implied that you might vote for him again in the general election. If instead you said that you won't be voting for Trump again, we wouldn't be saddling you with either of those labels.

For the sixth (or seventh?) time. 1. you're reporting what Hamas and al Jazeera has reported. Which honestly is the only reporting on that side of the issue. It makes sense those numbers are grossly inflated, just like Hamas said the IDF "bombed" the hospital and there were thousands dead. All of that was bullshit. Hamas quietly shut up about that and pressed on to other casualties. Hamas stated there were other (non Hamas) civilians in Gaza who were the one's that slit infants' throats. Until we started finding videos on the gopro's on the terrorists that proved otherwise.

Do I think SOC is lying? I think they're perhaps duped. It's a fairly easy set-up for them to "prove" children's deaths. Multiple reporting, that sort of thing.

All that said. Do I think there are civilian dead in Gaza? Yes. No doubt. IDF also waited almost a week for them to get out. Hamas wouldn't allow them, the Egyptians didn't open their borders, etcetcetc. I've made this statement from day 1. Had this been any other country, they would have carpet bombed every major village in Gaza. The city of Gaza would have ceased to exist. The survivors? Lined up and shot.

AND AGAIN. Had Hamas gone after military targets, I would expect any country to answer with military answers. There's the tilt. It's Asymmetric warfare. We are putting the laws of war on only one side. IDF "must" play in accordance of what you perceive as your accepted rules of "war." We already know the other side are assholes. We don't expect them to play by the accepted rules of war.

  6. by Donna on November 17, 2023 7:08 am

They're the only casualty numbers we have, od, and yes, they should and are being questioned. With that said, though, there's obviously been a lot of killing going on there, including a lot of innocent people, including children.

I just read in the NY Times that Gazans are now at risk of mass starvation.

  7. by HatetheSwamp on November 17, 2023 7:18 am

And, you're choosing to be credulous about the news droppings of the source you trusted when it reported that Israel bombed a hospital and killed 500 people.

You're not that stoopid, Donna. Clearly, your brain has been compromised by the same hate that propels the KKK, the Neo-Nazis, the Proud Boys and the Oath Keepers.

    Shame on you!

  8. by oldedude on November 17, 2023 7:19 am
Regarding the "mass starvation." The UN has tried twice to get food and medical supplies through. Hamas has taken them never to be found again.

Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

  9. by HatetheSwamp on November 17, 2023 8:04 am

Thing is, OD. Those reports are all over the news.

I wonder how, baha baha,... more... honestly, boohoo boohoo...Donna doesn't know about the humanitarian efforts... even those being offered by Israel... to the residents of Gaza!!!!!?

How black a heart must one have to intentionally avoid news of love, grace, mercy and kindness!

    For shame!

Somewhat in her defence is the NYT isn't the place to see that information. Nor is al Jazeera. Most of the time, they're bending to the left so hard, it's tough to get accurate info. It mostly exceeds the right turn on Fox, and goes hard into a Drudge equality of left/right.

The Germans haven't been doing a bad job of reporting, which is where I'm getting a lot of my info unless I can get it from a regional rag. Those aren't beholden to too many outside the region, so you can get pretty good info there.

You guys will love the commentary at the link below. Btw Chris Hedges is an ordained Presbyterian minister and reported for The New York Times from 1990 to 2005. He also served as the Times Middle East Bureau Chief and Balkan Bureau Chief during the wars in the former Yugoslavia. In 2001, Hedges contributed to The New York Times staff entry that received the 2002 Pulitzer Prize for Explanatory Reporting for the paper's coverage of global terrorism.

Did you ever find anything on the food, water, and medical supplies getting to gaza? Or the IDF helping Gazarians get to the border while Hamas wouldn't allow them to go?

curt's trifecta is like a conservative watching FoxNews, Wallstreet Journal, and Red State. And calling that "well rounded."

  13. by Donna on November 21, 2023 10:13 am

Well as you know or should know, in war, all governments lie, so many things that are reported should be taken with a grain of salt.
