According to the poll, 41% of registered voters say they would vote for Trump if the election was today; 35% say they would vote for Biden;16% say they would vote for independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

It's waaaaaaaaaay too early for this to matter...'cept it shows the declining approval of "that feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap."

RCP ave.: Trump +1.4.

Polls have consistently showed that voters who currently support Trump, would not vote for Trump if he's convicted of a felony.

    "...if..."

Do your polls include appeals being exhausted?

Just curious, Curt. Do your polls consider what happens if Trump's found not guilty at trial?

  5. by Curt_Anderson on November 8, 2023 2:09 pm
The implication is if he's found innocent, Republicans would vote for him. Many will have no problem voting for a convicted felon.

As important as the court's decision might be, whatever the court of public opinion decides based on the trial testimony and evidence will matter more. OJ was not convicted in his murder trial. The greater public rendered their own and different verdict.

  6. by HatetheSwamp on November 8, 2023 2:35 pm

    Perhaps.

But, my point is one that the great Rush made regularly, i.e., polls often are used to preach a Dem message. Apparently, you're unaware of a poll that considers the impact of a not guilty verdict on Trump's chances. Same here. And, we follow that sort of thing carefully. Rush'd say that that's because pollsters are preaching Trump guilt.

    HtS,
Think about it. Imagine these scenarios of a daughter introducing her boyfriend to her parents:
    1. This is Donny, he was just found guilty of murder.
    2. This is Donny, he was just found NOT guilty of murder!

In either case the parents are not favorably impressed.

What you're trying not to factor in is that mom and dad understand full well that the cops in town are corrupt thugs.

  9. by Curt_Anderson on November 8, 2023 3:50 pm
That may be the case in that town, that still doesn't mean a not guilty verdict is anything to be proud of. I still say the parents are not happy with the new beau. Especially if his not guilty verdict was the result of legal shenanigans and technicalities.

I might have sympathy for a defendant who could not afford decent legal representation. That isn't the case with Trump.

    HtS,
Your analogy obviously means that many people believe that the entire justice system in America is corrupt.

Your notion about corruption reminds me of White House attorney Eric Herschmann who recalled an exchange with Sydney Powell about the integrity of judges who had ruled against the Trump team's legal challenges sixty-plus times.

"She says, 'Well, the judges are corrupt,' " he recounted. "I'm like — 'Every one? Every single case in the country you guys lost? Every one of them is corrupt? Even the ones we appointed?' I'm being nice, I was much more harsh to her."

  11. by HatetheSwamp on November 8, 2023 4:26 pm

    Not the entire...

But. Many now understand that the DOJ has become politicized. That reality will, no doubt, become more evident as legal proceedings move forward.

So curt's saying that there have been no fbi "agents" that have lied to judges and produced lies in subpoenas that have been used against political opponents.

He also says there have not been IRS agents that have bent their official orders against many they are sworn to protect.

And the worst one. The Intelligence Agencies that have LIED to the courts and the public about political opponents.

So the Steele dossier was totally truthful. Then used that against a political opponent. Then continued to lie to the FISA Court about the truthfulness about the known LIES that were in the Steele Dossier. AND changed the wording of a subpoena (and back to lie to the courts), then changed it back to LIE to the court about the truthfulness about the reliability of the information in their warrant.

And the IRS did not single out conservative groups to harass.

And the IC absolutely did not sign a letter vouching for the Steele Dossier while knowing it was a fabricated LIE.

All of these things have been proven and accepted as LIES. Even by the left MSM.

I know curt refuses to accept this because he's just a good little german sending people on trains that never come back. Pulling their gold teeth out and stealing their valuables.

    OD,
None of that as anything to do with the criminal trials that Trump is facing. If there is anything untoward about the charges or the prosecution Trump's high priced legal team will put up a tough defense. Not to mention they will appeal if the judge sneezes. Judge Cannon in the classified documents case has acted like part of Trump's defense team.

Juries will ultimately decide these cases. In the DC case the juror pool is mostly Democrats. In Palm Beach it's heavily Republican. In Georgia it is mixed maybe a slightly liberal leaning jury pool. Trump has the advantage because juries must be unanimous in felony cases. So in any of these cases, all Trump needs is one juror holdout to decide Trump isn't guilty.

None of that as anything to do with the criminal trials that Trump is facing.

But it all has to do with your (and many other's complete hatred) of the trumpster. And you still believe it (which is worse). Therefore he is guilty of everything he is accused of. Regardless of what it is.
