pb could not be one of you elitist sheeple if he tried. pb's brain works.

If you ever doubted that the GOP is the home of openness and inclusion, acceptance, diversity, tolerance and, most of all, FREETHINKING, go to SwampRedMedia like Fox or Newsmax... or better yet, genuinely independent conservative media.

This brief video contains a few moments of Fox News big shot Brian Kilmeade attacking Tim Burchett for voting against Kevin McCarthy. Priceless.

And, a few seconds of Matt Gaetz and pbGOP Nancy Mace... strange bedfellows for sure... discussing how they came to agree on McCarthy.

Forget ideology. I can't be an electric limousine lovin Blue MAGA Swampcultist because my brain works. I can not think in lockstep.

Personally, had I been in the House, I couldn't have voted against McCarthy, though I'm in near perfect agreement with Nancy Mace, not here though.

As OD and pb point out regularly, this is a constitutional republic but I love it when democracy explodes. It's exploding over here.

We have 99 and 44 one hundredth percent of the energy in American politics. And, I wouldn't have it any other way.

Check out the video at least through the Kilmeade thing.

America is beautiful!

Actually it's an extreme minority of Republican House members who aren't free-thinking. They're petulant brats who are willing to hold America hostage until they get their way. That should not be tolerated in a democratic republic.

  2. by HatetheSwamp on October 6, 2023 7:44 am

    Splain, Donna.

  3. by Donna on October 6, 2023 7:47 am

I thought I did. My general point is that free-thinking goes both ways.

  4. by HatetheSwamp on October 6, 2023 8:01 am

Petulant brats? Upon what do you base that assessment?

Were I posting with po, I'd understand that, their audacity in merely disagreeing with po, who centers the universe,...

    ...they demonstrated their petulance.

Normally, though, there's more nuance in your thinking.

  5. by Ponderer on October 6, 2023 8:02 am

Hate thinks that Gaetz and his Gang of Eight or Whatever are members in good standing in the Republican Party, the home of openness and inclusion, acceptance, diversity, tolerance and, most of all, FREETHINKING.

  6. by HatetheSwamp on October 6, 2023 8:08 am

    Huh, po?

So running on transparency and then lying to their caucus is okay? That seems more like a dim thing. I mean, didn't pedojoe run on "transparency?"

  8. by HatetheSwamp on October 6, 2023 8:43 am

    Bingo, OD!

It's been in the GOP DNA to talk big and deliver nuthin. Remember how they were going to overturn OCare!!!!!?

I'd have given McCarthy a whole year to prove that he can produce even a little change, but listening to Nancy Mace... who ain't brainless MAGA... I understand the thinking.

  9. by Donna on October 6, 2023 8:44 am

If you're saying that a small minority of lawmakers should be allowed to shut down our government if they don't get their way, then I disagree. Yes, yes, the Constitution allows that, but IMO the authors made some huge mistakes, and that's one of them. In any case, those House members aren't allowing free-thinking by the majority.

  10. by Ponderer on October 6, 2023 8:48 am

Bill, Matt Gaetz and the rest of the MAGA Hat Caucus are the exact and total opposite of openness and inclusion, acceptance, diversity, tolerance and, most of all, FREETHINKING. Yet that handful of sociopathic death-cultists is in total control of the entire party now. And the rest of the MAGA Republican Party is doing nothing about it. They are sedentary in complying with those fuckingassholes.

So if it ever even was, which it wasn't, your assertion about the MAGA Republican Party being the home of openness and inclusion, acceptance, diversity, tolerance and, most of all, FREETHINKING is extremely out of date and no longer valid. Which, again, it never was.

Except they don't like liars. Ergo the issue with dims.

  12. by Donna on October 6, 2023 9:07 am

I don't care who they believe are liars - they're still petulant brats who are determined to hold our government hostage unless the rest of Congress caves to their demands.

That's definitely not being inclusive or free-thinking - it's being sociopathic. And more importantly, it's impossible to have a functioning democratic republic using that approach.

"Except they don't like liars." -olde dude

What, the Republicans don't like liars??? You can't mean that, od.

The same Republican party who fought to keep their beloved orange liar in the White House, regardless of his demonstrable lies and crimes against the Constitution?

The same Republican party that is happy to keep George Santos, if that's his real name, who only won his seat because his campaign was entirely a concoction of completely made up bald-faced lies?

The same Republican party that has supported and fostered Trump's Big Lie about the 2020 election having been stolen from Trump?

The same Republican party that supports lies in the face of actual evidence to the contrary if it has anything at all to do with Trump?

Well they may not like liars. But the MAGA Republican Party sure as heck is certainly happy to share a cozy, romantic bed with them.

  14. by HatetheSwamp on October 6, 2023 9:21 am

"Yet that handful of sociopathic death-cultists is in total control of the entire party now."

    Total? Really. Baha.

"And the rest of the MAGA Republican Party is doing nothing about it."

    According to whom?

  15. by HatetheSwamp on October 6, 2023 9:40 am

So, Donna, Martin Luther King, Jr was a petulant brat for opposing segregation?

Heck! LBJ was a petulant brat for rallying support for the Civil Rights Act when, in the beginning, most Americans were happy with the status quo?

I get you disagreeing with those eight GOPs. Actually, I disagree with them myself. Why, though, being advocates of democracy as I think you are, do you feel the need to demean the character of those eight members of the House!!!!!? Why can't you simply disagree with them as a fellow citizen?

And, d@ng it. The collaboration between those eight GOPs and the Dem Caucus is one of the most amazing acts of bipartisanship in the entire history of our Republic. Why are you so critical? And, nasty about it at that?

Donna and po, why are you so sympathetic to the Swamp wing of the GOP. That you are surprises ol pb. Please splain.

So before the wheels come off your short bus again, there were actually reasons. That was the main thing in their negotiation. They had been lied to since they've all been in the house. McCarthy said his speakership would be the most transparent (especially to his caucus). He was an epic fail.

Do I agree with them? Not really. I doubt I would have voted for it. But it happened. Period. End of story. Nothing you or I could do about it. No one cares about what we think. I don't understand how you can get so invested in something you have zero control over and have zero skin in the game.

  17. by Ponderer on October 7, 2023 7:03 am

No I know what you're saying, od. If the House, and therefore Congress itself, is controlled by a handful of brain-damaged, sociopathic death-cultists, I guess that's just what the majority of the population wants. Democracy has spoken. Oh well.

McCarthy is one of the biggest liars in Washington. He's a gargantuan liar, even for a Republican. There was nothing that he ever promised that he had any intention of putting himself out to accomplish.
