There you go, you TDS-impaired born again Alvin Bragg groupies. Baha baha baha.

...the judge ordered Bragg to send material to Jordan by 9 p.m. Tuesday so the court could have a hearing on the situation on April 19.

According to the judge, Bragg did not meet the standard for a preliminary injunction, and the balance of harms weighed against granting the request. The judge also voted in favor of Jordan, arguing that he had a legitimate legislative purpose for wanting the documents.

If that story is accurate and the judge isn’t overruled, I predict this will backfire badly on Jordan. Mark Pomeranz quit the Manhattan district attorney’s office, because he felt that Alvin Bragg was not aggressive enough and prosecuting Donald Trump.

Backfire? How? You lot will no longer take him seriously?

    No.

I think that Jordan is untouchable.

I certainly wouldn't want to touch him.

My guess, po, is that it's mutual.

    HtS,
Isn't the point of Jordan subpoenaing the Manhattan DA's office to exonerate Trump on some level? Mark Pomerantz, as I said, felt that Bragg wasn't being aggressing enough in prosecuting Trump. Why does Jordan think that Pomerantz's testimony will help Trump's case?

A reason for the federal government to look at a local DA's office is violations of federal laws. Local laws can be made and enforced if they are stricter than federal law. Therefore, you have hundreds of gun laws on the state/local books. In CO, each county has the ability to have it's own laws (again. they must abide by the state law but can be stricter). ALL of these laws "assume" the federal law and make it stricter in some sort of way.

In the case of woke DA's, the "catch and release" of felonies can be seen as relaxing federal law. Does this happen often? no. Is this a legal shot across the bow? Absolutely. Politics? Yes. I don't know if Jordon is actually looking at the Trump case. Is what Bragg doing strange things regarding releasing murderers out without bail? Yes. Especially when wokeism is only charging and holding certain people (the bodega owner for example). That is selective enforcement, much the same as not charging Klan members up until the 1960's/ 1970's for murder but putting a black away for decades for "dating" a white woman. Black men could be charged for rape in that case.

The answer is. Can it be done? Yes. Should it be done? What I'm sure about is that you and I will disagree. I just think it politics.

    Curt,

Trump might be a part of what Jordan is doing...very peripherally. But, honestly, buddy, you need to find a way to back off from the Trump Trump Trump Trump stuff.

Speaking for myself, and I'm certain for OD too, when we post about the Biden Dems' Banana Republic-ism and Stalinism we're being perfectly sincere. That's what Jordan says concerns him and I can see no reason to doubt that.

Unlike po, I'm not a professor at a law school and I'm not a constitutional law expert. I'm not thrilled about what Jordan is doing but I think people who care about our Republic have to do something before those with fascist yearnings are given carte blanche.

"Trump might be a part of what Jordan is doing...very peripherally." ---HtS

You think it's coincidental that Jordan wants to investigate the Manhattan DA? Why not the DA's of St. Louis or Cleveland or any of the many cities with higher crime rates than NYC?

They ONLY reason that Jordan has any interest in Alvin Bragg is because he indicted Trump.

You have an odd view of what is and isn't fascism. Fascism exalts the nation above the individual and stands for a centralized autocratic government. That Jim Jordan, who represents the federal government, is attempting to intimidate and interfere with a local DA is an example of fascistic activity.

Curt. I agree, but it's not the TrumpTrumpTrump that you rise. It's him going after conservatives like I said before. Trump was only the catalyst. the Legal issue are other legal matters he can show in court to pull him down.

I know you're refusing to acknowledge me, but we could actually agree on issues if you please.

"I know you're refusing to acknowledge me, but we could actually agree on issues if you please."

I agree! I don't recall the specifics but a week or two ago you misread (or maybe did not read) what I wrote and thus had an 180 degree wrong impression about my opinion on something. You graciously apologized for the misunderstanding. I believe your words were "my bad".

I replied that though we here tend to focus on our disagreements there are really more areas in which we all agree. One example happened today. I agree with you that Jack Teixeira, Ed Snowden, Chelsea Manning, et al deserve to punished for there leaks regardless of their motivations. As you said they violated their oaths. Additionally they put at risk our intelligence operatives.
