1. Trump was mad that the Secret Service wasn’t letting these armed supporters through security, said Hutchinson, who was in a tent with the president before his rally speech.

“I was in the vicinity of a conversation where I overheard the president say something to the effect of, ‘You know, I don’t even care that they have weapons. They’re not here to hurt me,’ ” Hutchinson said.

2. In the days leading up to attack, Hutchinson testified, White House Counsel Pat Cipollone was frantically warning that if anyone from the White House, let alone the president, went to the Capitol on Jan. 6, they’d be charged with federal crimes.

She said he told her, in language that sounded almost like begging: “Please make sure we don’t go up to the Capitol, Cass. … We are going to get charged with every crime imaginable.”

3. On January 6th, Hutchinson said she saw Cipollone “barreling down the hallway” looking for her boss, Meadows. She overheard the conversation: “I remember Pat saying to him, something to the effect of, ‘The rioters have gotten into the Capitol, Mark, we need to go down and see the president now.’ And Mark looked up [from his phone] and said ‘He doesn’t want to do anything, Pat.’”

She said Cipollone continued to pressure Meadows to convince Trump to call off the rioters: “Something needs to be done, or people are going to die, and blood is going to be on your f---ing hands. This is getting out of control.”

4. She said Trump encouraged his security detail to halt screening measures for his supporters at a “Stop the Steal” rally hours before the Capitol riot.

“I don’t f***ing care if they have weapons. They’re not here to hurt me. Take the f***ing mags away. Let my people in. They can march to the Capitol from here. Let the people in. Take the f***ing mags away,” Ms. Hutchinson recalls overhearing Mr. Trump saying that day, shortly before he went on stage.

    The crimes?

I see there that he "got mad." Is that a Class 3 Felony?

And, what remarkably precise testimony: "I remember Pat saying to him, something to the effect of, ‘The rioters have gotten into the Capitol..."

Even Fox is calling the testimony "explosive."

pb doesn't get it. He's been saying Trump is despicable for six years. Still, that's not a crime.

  2. by Ponderer on June 28, 2022 3:46 pm

Well, I wasn't disappointed. I can't wait to hear how Hate and others here blow this all off. They got him dead to rights.

I can't imagine how he is going to keep from being indicted on several felony counts. And we aren't even done yet!

  3. by Ponderer on June 28, 2022 3:52 pm

    "pb doesn't get it." -Hate

That's fine, Bill. We all know that this is totally above your head stuff here. We know that you are incapable of understanding such complex issues, especially when it's all so flabbergastingly damning against your Mango Messiah, Emperor Donald the Felonious.

You know what? Don't even pressure yourself about any of this. You don't have to post anything about it. With your total ignorance about what's going on and lack of the basic intelligence to understand it, there's nothing of any worth that you could contribute here anyway about it.

  4. by HatetheSwamp on June 28, 2022 3:52 pm

    po,

It was powerful testimony...that couldn't be given in a trial.

But, here's the real question in my mind: What felonies would you charge him with?

Nice progressive political porn. She's a decent looker, when she's dolled up.

Good enough. What are those felonies?

  6. by Ponderer on June 28, 2022 4:00 pm

See? This is what I mean. It's been explained to you already many times, but your pig-ignorant head is like a sieve.

Don't worry about it. It's only going to confuse you more and frustrate us because you won't remember us telling you anything ten minutes after we do.

  7. by Ponderer on June 28, 2022 4:10 pm

Plus, I already told you I was done wasting words on you. But these are special conditions I suppose. So think of these final words to you as a bonus.

    Good dodge.

    Trump is finished.

Trump will likely be charged with seditious conspiracy and inciting a riot. His lawyers will get to cross examine the witnesses at his trial.

The committee is just getting warmed up. Cassidy's testimony will likely influence others to step forward.

  10. by HatetheSwamp on June 28, 2022 4:26 pm

They suggested that they're just setting the table.

I've always thought that the feds only bring charges when they have an insurmountable pile of evidence. We'll see. I know you are hoping and, of course, it would help DeSantis.

  11. by Donna on June 28, 2022 4:27 pm
Cassidy testified that Trump wanted the metal detectors to me removed because "they aren't there to harm me".

We also found out why Trump didn't march to the Capitol building with his insurrectioninsts. Secret Service would allow him to. He even got into a physical cobfrontation with them - trued to wrestle the steering wheel away from the driver! I wish they had let him.

When Trump told the crowd to fight, he meant it literally, as most of us figured.

  12. by Donna on June 28, 2022 4:32 pm
Flynn took the fifth when he was asked if he believed in the peaceful transfer of power. I'm not surprised.

Meadows and Cippilone asked Trump for pardons.

Their coming trials should be very entertaining.

  13. by Donna on June 28, 2022 4:33 pm
I meant the Secret Service WOULDN'T allow him to.

  14. by Curt_Anderson on June 28, 2022 4:53 pm
Her testimony about Trump tangling with the Secret Service in the car was hearsay.

That said, she attributed the story to two Secret Service agents by name. So far nobody is disputing her testimony which if it were false, you would think they'd quickly refute.

  15. by HatetheSwamp on June 28, 2022 4:54 pm

Some of her hearsay can...must...be corroborated.

  16. by Donna on June 28, 2022 5:07 pm
Well she found out from someone who was in that car. If needed, those people could be subpoenaed.

  17. by Curt_Anderson on June 28, 2022 5:17 pm
Although sensational, the craziness in the limo and the plate throwing are minor crimes if crimes at all. It doesn't matter if it is corroborated or not because it won't be prosecuted.

  18. by Donna on June 28, 2022 5:20 pm
Yeah, it's not a crime to lunge at the steering wheel.

  19. by HatetheSwamp on June 28, 2022 5:21 pm

Still, you all seem to be aghast.

  20. by Curt_Anderson on June 28, 2022 5:26 pm
The crime regarding the limo wasn't the altercation. It was his desire and intent to lead a seditious armed mob into the Capitol.

  21. by Donna on June 28, 2022 5:30 pm
I'm sorry they prevented him from going.

  22. by Ponderer on June 28, 2022 5:36 pm

"You gotta get me to the Capitol! I gotta let those people know what I expect them to do with all those weapons I wanted them to be able to hang on to!" Or thereabouts.

He's dead meat. A great big fat bag of putrid, maggot-ridden, dead meat.

  23. by Donna on June 28, 2022 5:38 pm
And that was even true before he was elected president!

  24. by oldedude on June 28, 2022 5:53 pm
I still don't understand why they didn't go directly to federal court. Better than a kangaroo Taliban hearing.

"I still don't understand why they didn't go directly to federal court. Better than a kangaroo Taliban hearing." --OD

Because we are getting a twofer. The hearing don't preclude a trial or a series of federal trials with multiple defendants. I wrote this before the televised hearings began:

My hopes for House Select Committee's Investigation Presentation.
"Also this should make two types of cases: a legal case for Merrick Garland and Department of Justice and state level investigations like the grand jury in Georgia. They also should make a case for the court of public opinion so that decent people of all political stripes will realize that an attack on democracy occurred and that all of America was wronged and endangered"

I must say the 1/6 Committee is doing a good job of fulfilling my hopes and exceeding my expectations.
