A seemingly better way to restrain non-compliant suspects and those who are a danger to themselves and others.

The subject of policing and police use of force has been discussed recently in these pages. I found this Spider-man-like device interesting and hopeful as an alternative to a Taser, piling on or shooting the suspect. It seems like something that Batman would have on his tool belt. See video below.

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) ó While the issue of police reform continues around the country one company that started in Las Vegas is providing officers an option before using lethal force.

Wrap Technologies started selling the BolaWrap to police departments all over the U.S. last year.

The "remote handcuffs" restrain a person from a distance, keeping them and the officer safe.

If it works well (nothing is perfect) it looks like this could be another extremely useful tool for a cop who is dealing with a drunk or mentally ill person.

In a situation where a suspect chooses to runaway, a cop usually has only two choices unless he or she is a very athletic sprinter, and those choices are, simply let the suspect get away or shoot the suspect. If shooting the suspect is ruled out by the cop this could be a third option rather than just letting the suspect get away.
