At least 50 dead as tornadoes devastate Midwest
Last night. An Amazon distribution center in Illinois and a candle factory in Kentucky were destroyed last night while night crews were working.
This one line from the article below in particular caught my attention:
"One tornado was on the ground for 200 miles, he said, devastating towns like Mayfield and Princeton late Friday."
I've never heard of a tornado being on the ground for 200 miles. Even 20 miles would have been a long stretch.
When I was watching the Weather Channel Thursday night, they predicted that intense tornado-producing storms were going to rip through the Midwest on Friday.
Mother Nature is dangerous.

by Curt_Anderson on December 11, 2021 6:53 pm HtS hasn't blamed Biden for the tornadoes. I wonder if something has happened to HtS.
by Donna on December 11, 2021 9:13 pm 6 dead at Amazon, but I think that number will rise because they're saying that anyone who might still be under the rubble is probably dead.
I think we're also going to be hearing complaints from workers about Amazon not shutting down the facility when there was a tornado warning in effect.
by Donna on December 11, 2021 9:35 pm Sounds like Kentucky got hit even worse.
Officials estimated that at least four tornadoes hit the state. Beshear said he expected a death toll in the high double digits, with victims from multiple counties...
The community's main fire station was in the direct path of the tornado and was destroyed, along with the town's fleet of police cars and a police station, local officials said. Surrounding communities were providing support, including 11 ambulances to help with rescue and recovery at the factory and throughout the county, Creason said...
[Kentucky Gov. Andy] Beshear said the state had sent 150 coroners as part of the mass fatality team designed to provide resources such as personal protective equipment, body bags, batteries and refrigerated trailers. Beshear called the storm "the most devastating tornado event in our state’s history." msn.com
