In the past Flynn has sworn allegiance to the Constitution. How has he forgotten the First Amendment?

Former Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn, who was subpoenaed last week by the House select committee investigating the January 6 attack, made the following comment during a speech to a conservative Christian audience on the ReAwaken America tour in Texas this weekend. "If we are going to have one nation under God, which we must, we have to have one religion," he said. "One nation under God and one religion under God, right? All of us, working together."

First off, "one nation under God" is not a phrase found in the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence or written by our Founders in any of their writings. To say "we must" or "have to have" any religion is an anathema to all who respect and understand our Constitution. by HatetheSwamp on November 15, 2021 3:58 pm I believe Flynn's thinking is beyond wacko but the First Amendment establishes the government as existing at arm's length from religion. If, somehow, Flynn's vision would be realized, that would be groovy according to the Bill of Rights, so long as government is not connected to it. Go To Top
