Let's say, for the sake of argument, that a presidential candidate actually campaigned on the promise that if he was elected, he would personally shoot his opponent dead. Let's just say.

Well, the guy somehow actually gets himself elected and is now president of the United States. So he says that the people want him to shoot his opponent. The day after the inauguration, he busts down the door of his opponent but is physically stopped by others in the house from shooting him.

Do you think that the president in this example has a "mandate" from the people and therefore no one should stop him from shooting his opponent?

It's always the simplest questions that you can never answer.

No, you imbecile. The answer is simply NO. Unless you believe that winning the presidency allows them to commit any illegal act they want to.

MAGAts don't have the mental faculties involved to answer real world questions - much less hypotheticals.

Not until Donald Trump tells you to restart anyway.

    Ponderer,
The answer is no. Even a popular mandate does not give a person (political candidate or not) permission to violate the law. Lynchings and vigilante justice may have been popular, but they still broke the law.

We actually have a real life example of that now. Trump wants to deport birthright citizens. His supporters embraced the idea of deporting birthright citizens. However, it is a violation of the 14th amendment and the courts are stopping him.

Now the real question is why do some voters have difficulty in answering your question?

    HtS,
Apparently, you did not understand the point that Dershowitz was making about Thomas Jefferson. If you had understood it, you would’ve been able to tell us what the point is rather than expecting us to sit through half hour video of the old Dersh bag.
