Maybe RFK Jr. should be the secretary of education instead of health.

Just a few months before Donald Trump nominated Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to oversee U.S. health policy, the former presidential candidate was painting a shocking picture of heroin’s effectiveness as a study aid.
“I was at the bottom of my class,” he said during a podcast appearance on the Shawn Ryan Show. “I started doing heroin, and I went to the top of my class. Suddenly I could sit still, and I could read and I could concentrate. I could listen to what people were saying.”

While I would not encourage heroin use to address ADHD or other similar issues, the pharmaceutical drugs prescribed to relieve those problems are probably just as - if not more so - dangerous than heroin. This country has no problem addicting people to dangerous drugs as long as they are "legal" and sold by some billionaire sucking at the gov't's teat.
by Curt_Anderson on November 26, 2024 11:26 am Indy, you've probably heard the maxim, "the Dose Makes the Poison". In other words, any chemical—even water and oxygen—can be toxic if too much is ingested or absorbed into the body.
The difference between prescription drugs and street drugs is the street dealer will sell you all the illicit drugs that you can pay for. With pharmaceutical drugs there is at least an effort by conscientious, competent doctors to prescribe drugs based on the patient's needs. Not to mention the consistency and quality control of street drugs leaves much to be desired.

Agree on the quality aspect, although I probably do not believe it is nearly the problem you think it is. Why? Because killing your customers is bad for business. On the other one - 100% wrong. When you get prescription medicines, you generally get FAR more than you'd be buying on the street. Why? Because prescriptions are generally a long term thing - 30 days, etc... Even when I had dental surgery the doctor gave me 10 pain pills - not the one or two I used to buy on the street when I wanted to get high on them. "Bad drugs" is mostly a myth created by Hollywood movies and perpetuated by parties with skin in the game - cops, pharms, billionaires sucking at the gov't's teat... etc.
by Curt_Anderson on November 26, 2024 12:25 pm Indy,
Quite I had root canal procedure. Afterwards the dental surgeon gave an either/or prescription. One was for an opioid the other was for prescription-strength Tylenol. I opted for the Tylenol. Later, I spoke to a friend who was in charge of county health department. He blamed dentists and doctors for being too liberal with opioid prescriptions.

One the biggest problems is we have almost no regulations on sales and advertising drugs. The FDA is just another whored-out gov't department willing to okay anything that will get their palms greased (or vice versa - NOT okaying drugs that work better or actually CURE a problem instead of extending it). There is absolutely no reason at all to advertise prescription drugs - yet it's perfectly legal. But even before all the rules were relaxed and any person who looks halfway presentable can go to a "pain clinic" or a "weed doctor" to get a prescription - pharmaceutical drugs were readily available on the street at all times from multiple sources. There is no way to outlaw drugs and prevent people from getting whatever they want. That's why only people like OD and Mr. Brown Shorts who have no idea what the real world is like believe in things like "stopping drugs at the border". It's impossible.

I'll agree with you on your belief that "all drugs" is an impossible feat. Just like prostitution. It's going to happen. The idea is that on the other side of the border where we really can't put boots on the ground without that country's approval, THEY also need to step up and help us instead of looking the other way. There are things they want also.
The huge thing this year, is that the cartels are cutting back on the pureness of the fentanyl. Much of that is because we made such a big deal out of the number of deaths from cartel dope. A political move for them, to try to get the public opinion to favor the drugs and slaves they bring into the US.
And of course it's already working with 30% of the country (liberals) who don't see a problem with either the drugs or the human slave trafficking (which apparently the liberal woman support groups also approve of). Liberals are supporting both because "the cartels" are the victims, so when they're arrested with 6 year old boys and girls, they're pushed to the side because they're not "victims. The assholes that trafficked, raped, and got them hooked on the drugs are the victims. Welcome to why they lost the election, and will continue until they change their "feelings."

What makes you think other countries "look the other way" wrt drug smugglers and dealers, OD? I would think it is much easier to shift drugs in the USA than in Canada. We have a better understanding of the limits of freedoms that makes it easier for our police to investigate.
by Indy! on November 27, 2024 9:52 am
What OD is actually saying is exactly what I said - he thinks drugs CAN be stopped if all the right pieces are in place. That's a perfect world that simply does not exist and one of the biggest reasons is because we keep electing corrupt people into office - people like Donald J. Shitstain.
