Two of them, anyway: Fox News Sunday and Meet the Press... one GOP SwampMedia, one woke Dem SwampMedia.

Some impressions. The Dems sent low level surrogates to both shows. Fox got pb's Senator, John Fetterman. NBC got Raphael Warnock. Both are standing by their man, grampa Joe. Fetterman did so by recounting his own disastrous debate performance, followed by a victory. Warnock said that, yeah, Joe didn't have a great night,... but Trump's a liar.

Imo, what they said is less important than who they are in the Dem scheme of things. Nobodies. Chuck You Schumer wasn't out speaking for the party. Nor Kammy. Especially, no one up for reelection. No one significant... by a looooooooong shot.

The Dem panel members of the Fox panel was Richard Fowler. My guess? You woke, white progressives don't even know who the heck that is. He's like the fifth string replacement for the Dem chair on The Five. He's an unimaginative spouter of the day's Dem talking points. He didn't offer a vigorous defense of the Former Truck Driver for November.

The two GOP surrogates were JD Vance on Fox and Doug Burgam on NBC. Vance had an easy job on Fox. Burgum was pressed by Kristen Welker with standard TrumpHate clichés. Nuthin new. Interestingly, I wasn't impressed with Burgum.

My take away is that members of the Dem SwampMedia and the Dem politicians are treading water, not defending the "dithering and diminished" Doddering Old Fool but not calling for his removal from the ticket.

On Fox, Shannon Bream asked her panel to declare themselves. Will Joe Biden be the Dem candidate in November? One of hers said no but the rest, yes. Bottom line: If it ain't Joe it'll be Kammy and Kammy is a disaster.

On NBC, there was no pretense of journalism. The whole gang was spitballing ways that the Dems can pull out of the tailspin the Flatulent Fool created. Honestly, they weren't hopeful.

Interesting.

How do figure that Kamala is automatically the candidate? Biden wouldn't be resigning as President, just as a candidate. As I said in the link below, it's a good time for a contested convention. Biden could release his delegates and any constitutionally eligible Democrat could compete for the nomination---including Harris, Newsom, Whitmer, et cetera, even Joe Biden.

It wasn't I who concluded that, it was the panelists... but I agree.

How are Dems going to set aside the first Black Vice President? For which white man would it be? Gavin Newsom? Or, maybe white woman Gretchen Whitmer?

I agree with the gang. Dems are stuck with Kammy. Can you argue something else?

Sure, Harris was a Black women along with other candidates who represented minorities running for the nomination four years ago but a white male was chosen. There are a lot of potential "firsts" waiting the wings. First female, first Jew, first Hispanic, etc. Plus a white male nominee could select a minority candidate to create some diversity. In fact, when conventions were contested, the VP slot was often the prize for a runner-up contestant. Lincoln's Team of Rivals were the also-rans for the Republican nomination on 1860.

You may be right. The panelists may be crazy. But, as the song says, "it just may be a lunatic you're looking for." Sorry.

Kammy wants it. I, personally, can't imagine that it will go well for the Dems in November if she's pushed aside. We may find out.

Since Martin Van Buren went from being vice-president to president, only one incumbent VP has been elected president: George H. W. Bush. It's just not an automatic that the VP is the party nominee.

    Curt,

In these special circumstances, to push aside a very popular diversity choice will be dangerous among the Dem DEI crowd...

    ... IMO.

Of course this question is all hypothetical at this point. Joe Biden has not announced his withdrawal as a candidate. Historically vice presidents have always been a “diversity” choice. But until Bill Clinton selected Al Gore as his running mate, diversity meant regional diversity.

Veeps usually make terrible candidates. Most veeps are non-descript vets who are stable, not flashy. That's why they rarely win - they are chosen VP because they won't outshine a president.

PS: Gore won - but Bush got the WH anyway.
