It stuns me that Curt can seem to be genuinely ignernt about truths that are inconvenient for adherents woke ideology. Curt is a world class Good German.

He denied the existence of the laptop as a vast right-wing conspiracy for the longest time. I'm still not certain that he acknowledges it.

Come to find out yesterday that Curt was apparently, genuinely, offended that OD and pb were saying that woke American progressives supported the behavior of Hamas fighters in raping innocent women and girls.

Well, Curt. There were, as po'd say, EFFINscores of raucous woke demonstrations and protests all across America supporting Hamas...attacking Israel...in the wake of the Hamas attack.

Well, gang, there's some backlash.

Harvard students scramble to take back support for letter attacking Israel as some CEOs look to blacklist them

A flurry of Harvard University students and groups are desperately trying to backtrack on their support of a letter blaming Israel for the mass slaughter of its own people by Hamas terrorists — as some business titans seek to blacklist them from future jobs.

Four of the initial 34 student organizations attached to the inflammatory statement have already withdrawn their support — while board members of other groups have quit to distance themselves.

Late Tuesday, 17 other Harvard groups joined around 500 faculty and staff and 3,000 others in signing a counter-statement attacking the other groups’ letter as “completely wrong and deeply offensive,” according to the campus paper, the Harvard Crimson.

Others in groups supporting the initial letter — which held “the Israeli regime entirely responsible for all unfolding violence” — quit while distancing themselves from any involvement.

The statement released by the Harvard Palestinian Committee no longer lists the more than 30 student groups that had originally signed on to the statement, but rather says: “This statement was co-authored by a coalition of Palestine solidarity groups at Harvard.

...the student organizations only seemed to have released their statements after billionaire hedge fund manager Bill Ackman called for the university to release the names of the students in these groups so that they will not be hired by Wall Street.

“I have been asked by a number of CEOs if Harvard would release a list of the members of each of the Harvard organizations that have issued the letter assigning sole responsibility for Hamas’ heinous acts to Israel, so as to insure that none of us inadvertently hire any of their members,” Ackman, the billionaire founder of hedge fund giant Pershing Square Capital Management, wrote on his X social media account on Tuesday
.

BTW, Curt, there's a link to an article on the offensive letter as well.

Oh. And. Yeah, Curt. The laptop is real.

    HtS,
Of course, Hunter Biden’s laptop is real… Real stupid, just like your post above.

  3. by Ponderer on October 12, 2023 8:30 am

Yeah, no one has ever said that the laptop doesn't exist. It's just that as evidence, it may as well not exist.

There's no way that it can be proven that what is now on it is not hacked and altered bullshit. Who knows where that thing has been by now? Who knows what could have been put on it by now?

I'd say that the Laptop is meaningless as evidence of anything.

  4. by HatetheSwamp on October 12, 2023 9:15 am

Yeah, no one has ever said that the laptop doesn't exist. It's just that as evidence, it may as well not exist.

Oh, d@ng. Curt certainly did deny that the laptop was Hunter's and mocked the credulity of OD and pb for even suspecting that it might be the real thing.

I'm still not satisfied that he really does believe it's anything but a Russian attempt to meddle into the 020 election.

And. There were scores of woke US pro Hamas demonstrations blaming Israel for the rapes of women and girls and murders of babies blaming Israel for the genuine evil, as Donna did here in the early hours of this evil.

Ahhhhh... you beat me to it!
It was also an issue in FL, except there, the goal is to ensure Jewish students are safe. There were also stuff at NYU. This should be sufficient for curt since it's from NYT.

A law firm’s job offer to a New York University law student was rescinded on Tuesday for what the firm described as “inflammatory comments” about Hamas’s attack that killed at least 1,200 Israelis. And at Harvard, student groups began to take back their signatures on a letter that blamed Israel for the violence.

The actions were part of a wave of fallout on campuses for students, who are deeply polarized over the fighting.

At N.Y.U., Ryna Workman, the president of the university’s Student Bar Association, wrote in a message to the group on Tuesday that “Israel bears full responsibility for this tremendous loss of life.”

“This regime of state-sanctioned violence created the conditions that made resistance necessary,” Mx. Workman wrote in the Student Bar Association bulletin. “I will not condemn Palestinian resistance.”

    Curt,

I believe that you're an honest guy. Can you splain how you remained ignorant of the, literally, scores of pro-Hamas demonstrations in which Israel was accused of being responsible for the atrocities?

  8. by Curt_Anderson on October 12, 2023 10:09 am
Other than FOX News the articles you listed, they called the demonstrations "Pro-Palestinian". There is a difference between supporting and sympathizing with Palestinians and supporting Hamas. Just like supporting America is not the same as supporting Republican Party. Or being pro-Republican Party isn't the same as being pro-America.

Alas, those distinctions are lost on you.

    HtS,
Let's work on helping you to think logically. You are constantly blaming Joe Biden for one thing or another. Trump considers Biden his opponent and rival. Does your blaming Joe Biden necessarily mean you are pro-Trump?

  11. by HatetheSwamp on October 12, 2023 10:47 am

    Curt,

Please clarify. What do I actually BLAME the Doddering Old Fool for?

True, I point out the abundant evidence of his dementia. I consider him to be an ineffective President...along with a significant majority of my fellow Americans who have an opinion.

    But, blame? Put up.

  14. by Curt_Anderson on October 12, 2023 11:15 am
    HtS,
In that case, I am relieved to know that you don't blame Joe Biden for the withdrawal from Afghanistan, gas prices, inflation, illegal immigrants, Trump being prosecuted, etc.

But I am surprised to learn you post headlines and news stories that you disagree with.

Let's try that another way, Curt...

    HtS, Curt,
Let's work on helping you to think logically. You are constantly blaming Joe Biden Putin for one thing or another. Trump Zelensky considers Biden Putin his opponent and rival. Does your my blaming Joe Biden Zelensky necessarily mean you I are am pro-Trump Putin?

  16. by Curt_Anderson on October 12, 2023 1:08 pm
    Indy,
Not necessarily. It's possible to not like/support/favor Zelensky or Putin. It's also possible to fall into the trap of making a false equivalency.

  17. by Indy! on October 12, 2023 2:35 pm

You've pulled the "Putin supporter" or "falling for Putin's propaganda" (not sure where I'd even be able to find that, btw) on me many times, Curt.

  18. by Curt_Anderson on October 12, 2023 2:58 pm
    Indy,
I merely pointed out that you have repeated Putin's allegations about Zelensky.

No, I haven't and I expect an apology for you lying about me. In order to "repeat" Putin's allegations, I would have first needed to have heard them - which I haven't. And point by point...

    1. I have never used the term "band of drug addicts" or "neo Nazis" to describe Ukraine's government.

    2. I've never seen and "viral video" of Zelensky with cocaine and I do not base my charges of him being a cokehead on any such video.

    3. Murky nonsense that means nothing and does not apply to me or anything I've said.

    4. Fact check: More space filler crapola that has nothing to do with me because you can't find anything to support your lies.

  20. by Indy! on October 12, 2023 4:21 pm

And getting back to the original point - you still made the illogical and dishonest intellectual leap on me that you accused pb of making on you.

  21. by Curt_Anderson on October 12, 2023 4:52 pm
"No, I haven't and I expect an apology for you lying about me. In order to "repeat" Putin's allegations, I would have first needed to have heard them - which I haven't." ---Indy!

Indy, you are correct. I apologize unreservedly. It's entirely possible that you independently came to have the same opinions and conclusions as Putin about Ukraine and Zelensky. I suppose you might say "great minds think alike". It's simply a coincidence that your views and Putin's are indistinguishable.

"Let Putin have the country as far as I’m concerned." ---Indy! (Putin agrees!)

"the coke-addled Ukraine comic" ---Indy! (Putin agrees!)

"Indy would be fine with Ukraine surrendering to Ukraine. Ukraine is not a NATO nation, it's packed to the brim with JV league Nazis and the president is a cokehead self-promoting con artist." ---Indy! (Putin agrees, except maybe for the part about Ukraine surrendering to Ukraine.)

"It's comical than anyone anywhere is still acting like there is some noble cause involved in Ukraine when half the time it's obvious as the coke under Neil Young's nose in The Last Waltz that Zelensky is stoned out of his mind on something." ---Indy! (Putin agrees!)
