Shasta County is in Northern California not far from me. The supervisors are Trumpers. This is an example of how Fox News damaged Dominion’s business with slander and libel—-neither of which are protected by the First Amendment.

Shasta County is leaving itself without a way to conduct elections for now. The county’s board of supervisors voted Tuesday to look at creating their own voting system.

County Supervisors canceled their contract with Dominion Voting Systems last month over unproven concerns of voter fraud.

Now, Board Chair Patrick Jones wants to get rid of machines all-together, and count votes entirely by hand.

Deputy Secretary of State Susan Lapsley came up to Shasta County on Tuesday to answer questions about Jone’s proposal to eliminate voting machines.

“People make mistakes,” Lapsley said. “It’s hard, it’s tough to sit here during the board meeting but can you imagine sitting at a table for eight hours and doing this [hand-counting ballots]? It’s tough and it’s a lot of hard work.”

    If you knew the MAGA Creed, you'd know that key to the message is the call for elections by paper ballot only.

    In Oregon, which is 100% vote-by-mail, we only vote on paper ballots. The paper ballots are then run through voting machines and tabulated. If the election is close, within 0.2% of total votes, they go through an automatic recount. Since the paper ballots exist, if need be, they can by counted by hand individually.

    As for the "Trump Creed", like most cults, there are inconsistencies in the MAGA beliefs. Trump himself has railed against vote-by-mail which is all paper ballots.

    Most people in Pennsylvania vote in the same way, though there's an electronic alternative. We vote by paper. It's harder for Dem shenanigans to be effective...until election workers fiddle with chain of custody.

    Even with electronic voting in Pennsylvania, there is a paper backup if a recount is ordered. It's the same story in California. There is a paper backup.

    The Oregon voting method, which uses optical scanners to read paper ballots, is imho the best voting safeguard.
