Judge Cannon, a Trump appointee, was confirmed by the Senate a week after Trump's defeat in the 2020 election. Trump, his legal team, his sycophants and apologists everywhere have been making the unsubstantiated claim that Trump's constitutional rights were violated when Mar-a-Lago was searched and classified documents and other evidence was seized.
In her ruling today regarding a special master, she wrote:
"With respect to the first factor, the Court agrees with the Government that, at least based on the record to date, there has not been a compelling showing of callous disregard for Plaintiff’s constitutional rights."
Incidentally "callous disregard" is a legal term and somewhat redundant.
