Here's the cliff notes. DOJ doesn't have the authority to seize passports. That has to go through a judge. My view is the agents were told to "grab anything you get your hands on." So that's what some agent did. In normal circumstances, It would be a huge no-no. In this case, I think they were following orders. Again, we go back to the "leadership" in this case. Why grab everything? It's simple. They're fishing for a case. The agents? Doing what they were last told to do.
Is he a flight risk? Maybe. He has the means, the money, and perhaps the reason. He did go on vacation, just like pedojoe and kamaler.
Again, in left vs right publications, the left doesn't mention that it's "illegal" only that it was a "mistake." Oops. The right on the other hand tells you it's illegal for DOJ to take them. Therefore, it is a theft.* I picked the "Washington Examiner." just as a safer bet.
DOJ offers Trump his passports back
Officials with the Department of Justice offered to return to former President Donald Trump his three seized passports, according to a Monday email shared by a Trump spokesperson.
In the exchange, Jay Bratt, chief of the DOJ's counterintelligence and export control section, corroborated Trump's public claim that authorities had seized three passports from his Mar-a-Lago resort during a raid last week and offered to return them.
