This illustrates how difficult it is to get even modest reform passed in Congress.

For those, especially on the left who are always attacking president Biden and the Democrats, tell me what they did wrong here.

"Pharmaceutical companies and House Republicans have aligned to launch a full-scale attack on the new Medicare drug reforms, which represent one of President Joe Biden’s signature accomplishments and have already started to lower prescription costs for seniors.

The pharmaceutical industry is challenging one key component of the new prescription drugs initiative in court, while a caucus representing most House Republicans is calling to repeal the entire program through legislation. They argue that the reforms will reduce investment in research and development and ultimately lead to fewer breakthrough cures."

I'm a huge proponent of Bernie Sanders' proposed Medicare for All bill, but if we're running into problems getting something as comparatively measly as Medicare prescription drug prices reduced for seniors, the how the hell can we expect that something as huge as Medicare For All will ever get passed?

I don't want to name names or point fingers, but people who complain that Biden and Democrats should have ignored and simply bowled over Republican objections and obstacles often can be categorized thusly: Singles. They are not in any sort of partnership, either a marital one or a business one. They personally don't have to make any compromises. They can pick the restaurant or choose how to arrange their office.

Those marital and business relationships are with people you presumably selected and like. Try dealing with people who are adversaries and getting something done.

Good lord, Curt - try reigning in your emotions every once in awhile. You think people who aren't married never have to make compromises? Restaurants close or run out of food choices. Offices might not be big enough for all the things a person wants to put in them. And what makes you believe you know the relationship status of everyone in your vast audience? Do you just assume everyone wants their laundry aired in public? These are basic ideas even people of advanced age should be able to consider and understand (not that I'm pointing any fingers or naming any names 😉).

Now - not that I feel the need to clarify some people's position on the Democrats for the eleventy-billionth time - but have you also considered maybe some people are not expecting the feckless Democrats or senile old Joe to "bowl over Republican objections and obstacles" so much as they just want them to push a little harder? Maybe put in a little effort beyond asking nicely and then returning to their daily graft and insider trading when the GOP whispers "no" in their general direction? To whit... have Joe and the worthless Ds even taken this issue public? Have they gone beyond the usual political media like Huffpost that nobody reads anymore because they've given up all hope that our government will ever serve them? Have they even TRIED putting a little pressure on the Rs? Or did they bend over for the Republicans, pull down their pants and say "thank you sir may I have another?" as they always do when the Rs spank them? 🤔

And Donna... have you considered this... why even bother with these nickel and dime changes? Can't you see THIS is the actual problem right here - begging for crumbs instead of DEMANDING real change? This year alone we've handed Ukraine - a country most Americans STILL couldn't find on a map - enough cash to run M4A for years. We spent trillions on the war in Afghanistan for what? To hand the country right back to the same people leaving behind 100s of billion$ in MIC parting gifts to boot? If you ask for nothing - you will receive nothing. Why aren't the Ds pushing 24/7/365? Why do the "progressives" not even say the words "medicare for all" anymore? Do you ever ask these kind of questions? Or do you just read the conservative media's pr saying "we can't afford it" or the "GOP won't budge" and go right back to voting for the same worthless criminals who make sure nothing ever changes?

And by the way - that includes Bernie Sanders. All he does is herd people like you into the voting booths to pull the lever for bums like Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

    Indy,
I was fascinated to hear you make compromises when a restaurant runs out of a menu item. Me? I throw a fit, castigate the wait staff and the cooks, smash dishes, overturn tables and storm out. I might try your way some time.

When you suggest that Biden and Democrats push a little harder do you mean as in this example at the link below?

"And Donna... have you considered this... why even bother with these nickel and dime changes?" -Indy!

    🤨

Wow. If you ever decide to become a Republican, Indy!, I don't think it will be much of an adjustment for you at all.

It's not nickle and dime to the millions of suffering people on Medicare who haven't been able to afford the drugs they need, or who get dumped into bankruptcy by these costs.

  6. by Indy! on June 22, 2023 4:15 pm
Not sure how that applies, Curt. We didn’t get the $2000 even though the Ds had the votes to make it haapen.

Oh no, Donna is getting self-righteous on me. She must believe I’m never going to be on medicare like everyone else in the country. 🙄

"Oh no, Donna is getting self-righteous on me." -Indy!

    Couldn't happen.

The blinding glare from your self-righteousness outshines anyone else's around you. We're like flashlights against the sun of your self-righteousness, Indy!.

I was going to comment, but I already said everything I needed to say on that in my opening post.

  10. by Indy! on June 22, 2023 8:14 pm
The sad part about this thread is it's so easy to believe Curt is still trying to sell the $2000 lie. 😂

  11. by Donna on June 23, 2023 8:03 am

Curt corrected you on that and you haven't responded to his correction.

  12. by Indy! on June 23, 2023 2:14 pm
Actually I did in the other thread - to which he has not responded. Don’t blame him since I proved it happened exacly as I said it did (which we all know - I’m just the only one being honest about it). But we can cover that here as well since you brought it up. I posted an article with a full explanation as well as the pertinent paragraph highlighting the info that blows his fairy tale version out of the water. As it says in the story (and I related in my post to Curt) - even well known Ds were saying "$1400 is not $2000" until they were told to keep that part quiet.

One thing that I forget to mention however, was that because Biden only gave us $1400 and Trump gave us $1800 (2 checks: $1200 + $600) - I think we can draw the obvious conclusion Trump was the one more concerned about helping average Americans during those days of covid.

You'll find the paragraph with highlighted points refuting Curt's version of events as well as a link to the full story with all the details of the entire sordid episode below.

    You're welcome. 🙂

Also - now that I know we can post gifs here - there's also this. Don't remember if I posted it on the old board, but it also supports the same thing... Biden promised $2000, and only gave us $1400.

  14. by Indy! on June 24, 2023 11:47 am
So Curt called me out, then Donna called me out and both disappeared in the face of the proof they were wrong and Indy! - as usual - was... CORRECT!

    BOOYAH!! 😂

  15. by Donna on June 24, 2023 11:53 am

Never my fight. I merely pointed out that, at the time, you hadn't countered Curt's claims. I never cared enough about it to research it.

  16. by Indy! on June 24, 2023 1:29 pm
LOL! Please. I gave both of you the benefit of the doubt that you actually knew the reality but were protecting your senile grandpa by repeating his talking points. Everybody knows what happened. 😂

  17. by Indy! on June 24, 2023 1:31 pm
And btw - I had already responded to Curt. Hard to keep up on this board so I'll give you the benefit on that one too. 😉

  18. by Donna on June 24, 2023 4:41 pm

I saw your response after I posted that you haven't responded.
