No less an authority on math than Andrew Yang said on CNN last night that the math is not with Bernie Sanders in obtaining the Democratic presidential nomination. Yang also endorsed Biden, saying the Bernie Sanders has been an inspiration to him four years ago.
If Sanders quits the race now he will be viewed as a hero who puts the country ahead of himself. He will earn the respect of his Senate peers and have a more powerful role in that august body. Sanders has been successful and making his priorities the Democratic party's priorities. He has in effect won.
If he were to unnecessarily prolong his campaign now in spite of the long odds against him, not to mention the issues of crowds and Coronavirus, he would undo all the goodwill and admiration that he deservedly earned.
Sanders can overstay his welcome--the independent socialist has been a guest of the Democratic Party in their primaries--and make Trump's reelection more likely.
