Yeah. Sorry that you can't see it. It was such a great idea for a meme, and I was pretty happy with it too.
But, well......
I found a satellite image of a certain area of the southeastern coast of Florida, and I altered it to look like there was a quarter mile-wide crater along the coast there, all filled in by the surrounding sea water. The spot is on a barrier island, and the crater had essentially made it into two barrier islands.
The crater was this nice, quiet, deep solid blue color that matched the surrounding deep sea. And what was left of the land around it helped define the crater from the air. It was such a nice, quiet spot with new beachfront property where people could enjoy fishing or boating and other seashore activities.
I didn't have any caption in mind for it. I thought that the image itself would speak to all of its deeper meaning and the positive reality that it might reflect, and that this sense of freedom and peace that I felt looking at it would be instantly conveyed to the viewer.
I sat there for the longest time just staring at the image, imagining myself kicking back, floating in one of those pool loungers with a Mojito in the cup holder, right in the middle of that crater/lagoon... all peaceful and tranquil... the call of seagulls in the background and the glimmering sun reflecting off the gentle waves all around me, the warm waters of the Caribbean lulling me into a relaxed and luxuriously peaceful contentment...
But I eventually realized that I couldn't post it. Or rather, that it might be best not to. It might be taken as some sort of threat or something. Given this regime, I'm not sure if I want to take such a chance at angering the wrong people. Not that my work may not have already gotten me on some list somewhere.
And maybe, after all, making this image was just something that I needed to do, just for me. So that I could therapeutically look at it and feel the peace of how much better the world would be right now if this image came up on Google Maps. So, after a long, meditative grokking, I went ahead and deleted it.
But maybe I have already described it enough so that others reading this could imagine this relaxing and tranquilizing image in their heads too. These words may be short of a thousand, but I hope they were enough to be worth a picture.
