CALLING ON CONGRESS TO LOWER HEALTHCARE COSTS

President Donald J. Trump is calling on Congress to enact the Great Healthcare Plan, a comprehensive plan to lower drug prices, lower insurance premiums, hold big insurance companies accountable, and maximize price transparency.

LOWERING DRUG PRICES

The Great Healthcare Plan calls for codifying the Trump Administration’s Most-Favored-Nation deals to get Americans the same low prices for prescription drugs that people in other countries pay. This would build off President Trump’s landmark actions that made insulin more affordable in his first term and the successful voluntary negotiations following his recent Executive Order to lower drug prices. Voluntarily negotiated deals with HHS/CMS will be grandfathered in.

The Great Healthcare Plan makes more verified safe pharmaceutical drugs available for over-the-counter purchase. This will lower healthcare costs and increase consumer choice by strengthening price transparency, increasing competition, and reducing the need for costly and time-consuming doctor’s visits.

LOWERING INSURANCE PREMIUMS

The Great Healthcare Plan stops sending big insurance companies billions in extra taxpayer-funded subsidy payments and instead send that money directly to eligible Americans to allow them to buy the health insurance of their choice.

The Great Healthcare Plan funds a cost-sharing reduction program for healthcare plans which would save taxpayers at least $36 billion and reduce the most common Obamacare plan premiums by over 10% according to the Congressional Budget Office.

The Great Healthcare Plan will end the kickbacks paid by pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) to the large brokerage middlemen that deceptively raise the cost of health insurance.

HOLDING BIG INSURANCE COMPANIES ACCOUNTABLE

The Great Healthcare Plan creates the “Plain English Insurance” Standard by requiring health insurance companies to publish rate and coverage comparisons upfront on their websites in plain English—not industry jargon—so consumers can make better insurance purchasing decisions.

The Great Healthcare Plan will require health insurance companies to publish the percentage of their revenues that are paid out to claims versus overhead costs and profits on their websites.

The Great Healthcare Plan will require health insurance companies to publish the percentage of insurance claims they reject and average wait times for routine care on their websites.

MAXIMIZE PRICE TRANSPARENCY

The Great Healthcare Plan requires any healthcare provider or insurer who accepts Medicare or Medicaid to prominently post their pricing and fees in their place of business.

So, wow. This isn't so much a capital P "Plan" as it's just a list ofshit that Trump wants Congress to just go ahead and do, if they'd be so very kind. How long do you think that's all gonna take? A year? Two years? While people's insurance premiums have doubled and tripled?

And there is no specified or even hinted at amount of just how much Trump's subjects are going to get to go towards their insurance premiums with thi9s horseshit. He's floated the idea of as much as $2,000 a year. Wow. What a guy.

Let's use my last year on Obamacare before going on Medicare.

I was paying around $575 per month for the cheapest decent coverage I could get. And the subsidy that made up the difference of the premium was about $800. So that means that the entire premium was about $1,375 per month.

If I was two years younger right now and that was my setup, I couldn't pay that whole premium and I'd have to try to slide with nothing until I could get on Medicare.

OH! But Trump says he is going to lower premiums by 10% or 15%! That will surely help us little guys, right?

Well, no. If he lowers that $1,375 premium 15%, it would be $206.25 less for a premium total of $1,168.75.

That's still over twice what I was paying with Obamacare.

OH! But let's add in Trump's gracious annual donation to us of $2,000 to go towards our years' worth of premiums. That's another $166.66 we can take off every month!... to leave a premium total of... $1,002.09.

That's still nearly twice what I was paying with Obamacare.

And this is all if the policy I had then was the same price now.

It's all a scam, he's just scamming theshit out of us again. Totally expected.

When Trump calls something "great", we all know what that ends up meaning.

  2. by HatetheSwamp on January 19, 2026 12:13 pm

Apart from your brainless, emotion-based support for your The ONE, what about GOP plan, specifically, do you object to?

GOPs have been proposing these principles since the time Obama tugged OCare through Congress, and handed GOPs both Houses in 010. Your deranged TrumpHate notwithstanding little to none of this originates with your own, personal devil.

    So. What's bad here?

  3. by Indy! on January 19, 2026 12:19 pm

He's spelling it wrong - what he means is "grate" as in he's going to grate average Americans' bank accounts into dust. Let's go down the list...

    1) Drug prices - we'll probably get the same kind of barely registering weak legislation like we got with Biden. They'll end up picking 10 more obscure drugs and lower the price a little.

    2) Over the counter sales... Not sure how that's going to lower drug prices, especially since doctor visits will be going up all the times you DO need to see them without the ACA subsidies.

    3) Lowering premiums... He doesn't even understand how the ACA works. The money doesn't go directly to the insurance companies - it goes to consumers who then pick which insurance they want to buy with the subsidies. If they buy insurance that costs less than the subsidy - they get that leftover cash in the form of a tax refund (I've got them in the past and I'll be getting one this year.)

    4) 10% off the most common ACA plans. Pondy already covered this brilliantly (thank you) she merely skipped over the part I just bolded. The laughable "reduction" doesn't even cover ALL the plans.

    5) Plain English insurance... I'll believe it when I see it.

    6) Insurance companies breakdown of expenses... If memory serves, this is already part of the ACA. Insurance companies have found ways around it.

    7) Posting pricing and fees... good luck with that one. The entire walls of every room in the healthcare providers businesses will be covered with something like this...

HtS, what specifically do like about it? And by "it" I mean something that will actually be enacted into legislation.

Trump’s ‘Great Healthcare Plan’ Is Not Great. It’s Not Even a Plan.
DONALD TRUMP ON THURSDAY rolled out what he is calling “The Great Healthcare Plan” and the single most important thing to know about it is that it’s not really a plan.

A real plan would have details and numbers, plus experts on standby to explain and defend it. It would reflect weeks of behind-the-scenes work, and represent the beginning of a serious, persistent effort to get a bill through Congress. That is not what the White House produced.

The online summary is just 350 words and fits on a single printed page. The extended “fact sheet” clocks in at just 825 words. There are days Trump writes more than that in his posts on Truth Social.

And it’s not like those 825 words are dense with policy substance. About a third is a summary of some modest—er, “historic”—executive actions Trump has already taken. The rest is a list of ideas either Trump or Republicans in Congress have endorsed before, with no guidance on the specifics that it would take to turn them into legislation.

Anyone who read and comprehended Ponderer's OP and can understand simple arithmetic should be able to tell how laughably obtuse trump's healthcare "plan" is.

  7. by HatetheSwamp on January 19, 2026 12:54 pm

I'm stoopid, Donna, as po's been saying for many years. So, remembering that OCare will cost taxpayers $350,000,000,000 over the next 10 years, How's that any better.

Oh. And, feel free to preach the Gospel according to The Ben, if you need to.

  8. by Indy! on January 19, 2026 1:06 pm

The ACA (Obamacare) is your party's plan, Brown Shorts. Obama was dumb and lazy enough to accept it as a "plan" - but reality (as I said at the time) is all we did was kick the same for profit plans farther down the road. The simple answer is universal healthcare. We would be paying 1/4 the amount we pay now and EVERYONE would be covered.

The problem? It's too simple, too smart and puts too many unnecessary paper pushers out of business.

  9. by Curt_Anderson on January 19, 2026 1:08 pm
"...OCare will cost taxpayers $350,000,000,000 over the next 10 years..." ---HtS

Is that all? That's half the cost of Greenland. President Donald Trump’s push for the U.S. to acquire Greenland could carry an estimated price tag of $700 billion, according to reports. Of course Greenland would cost more if we have to NATO to acquire it.

    "Obama was dumb and lazy..."

That's what both of us were saying back in the day. But, it warnt the GOP plan...

    ... by a looooooooong shot!

GOPs fought against it tooth and nail up to election day in 010, when they achieved on the the largest victories in American history.

  11. by Indy! on January 19, 2026 1:18 pm

Funny that Fox actually calls it the "War Department". But as usual the orange ass monkey is lying. He claims if we don't act - Russia or China will. No they won't - why? Because Greenland is part of NATO. As with Venezuela, all Trump really wants is Greenland's natural resources. Like all wingnuts, he has no skill set to earn cash except stealing it or pumping it out of someone else's property.

  12. by Indy! on January 19, 2026 1:21 pm

The fact you're this ignorant in regards to politics tells us how good Fox is at dumbing down their viewers. The GOP used "Obama"care to win an election because they know idiots like you and OD would vote against anything with "Obama" in it. That has nothing to do with the origin of the plan. It was the Bob Dole healthcare plan.

I'm wondering what facts you have about that, and can never cite these "facts." Especially when your mommy, little nancy (aka Tiffany Valentine) wouldn't let congress read the 2,000 or so in two days, make a decision on it before the vote. Don't you remember "You have to pass it to read it?" said by Tiffany? Pleases enlighten us. If you can.

I have an idea. Congress renames the ACA to "Trump's Great Healthcare Plan" so Trump can take credit for fixing health care. Then Congress works on building a better healthcare system and call it "Trump's Greatest Healthcare Plan."

Thanks, everyone. I knew everyone would have great responses for this thread. Except that pedophile's bitch's an olde dude's responses were Donald Trump "great". Which translates in reality as meaning it wallows in lameness.

But we expect no less from these two flaming MAGA Hats. Defend, support, excuse, and champion any idiotic, bullshit, fascist nonsense that "Donald Trump the 'Great'" babbles anywhere, no matter how stupid it is and makes them look doing so. They use the same stupid tactics and sound exactly like the staunchest, most boneheaded MAGA Hat cult members I run across everywhere online. No matter how they wish to deny what they are.

Hitler counted no less on the gullibility and cowardice of his MAGA Hats.

    Have compassion. I'm stoopid.

  21. by Ponderer on January 20, 2026 8:16 am

I am not responsible for your stupidity, pedophile's bitch. You need to take responsibility for the stupidity that you choose to wallow in. It's not my responsibility to educate you on facts and realities that you are steadfastly refusing to expose yourself to. Our pointing these things out to you always has zero effect on your adamant stupidity. We may as well have never bothered trying. That's why I don't anymore.

If you really wanted to not be so stupid, it's within you to at least make an effort to educate yourself. No one here has ever seen you make the slightest effort to deal with the realities on the ground and in the courts. All you ever do is laugh like a flaming lunatic.

    po,

Here's the thing. Unlike you, I'm not a past winner of the Nobel Prize for Medicine. I have no idea what to think about the plan Trump is endorsing.

Back in the day, I came to gain enuff understanding of OCare, in time, that I was confident in expressing my conviction that it'd become prohibitively expensive... which it now is.

So, please. Have mercy on a guy not as evolved as are you.

  24. by Ponderer on January 20, 2026 8:47 am

I have no respect for the willfully stupid like you, pedophile's bitch. Any and all mercy given is wasted on you.

    myce,

I know you know it all, but AI calls it a plan.

"On January 15, 2026, President Donald Trump unveiled "The Great Healthcare Plan," a comprehensive framework aimed at lowering medical costs and shifting federal health subsidies directly to individuals. The plan centers on four main pillars: lowering prescription drug prices, reducing insurance premiums, holding insurance companies accountable, and maximizing price transparency."

  34. by Indy! on January 20, 2026 3:01 pm

You're going to be the perfect robot tool when they start telling citizens to load people into the gas chambers, Brown Shorts.

  35. by Ponderer on January 20, 2026 5:38 pm

"BTW, po, in case you are unaware. We know that you don't have the dangdest idea what's wrong with Trump's plan." -pedophile's bitch

Speak for yourself. I think everyone read my well explained example of what's wrong with it. It's not a plan. It's nowhere near a bill to even start working on. It's nothing but promises he is making and intending Congress to keep for his majesty by just... making a bill for him based on the promises he made. Until he wants to change it all again. It's flashy packaging with nothing but used toilet paper inside for the American people.

Millions of people who had affordable healthcare under Obamacare are still going to be priced out of the market. Millions of people are now, as I type, currently deciding to have to give up health care entirely because their premiums are double or triple what they were and they can't afford it.

Look, you are self admittedly too stoopid to even follow such a discussion. You are only making yourself look like an idiot also by even trying.

  36. by Curt_Anderson on January 20, 2026 6:54 pm
The "plan" is largely a wish list and vague promises It's funny how our self-admitted haters of socialism quickly glom onto the nation of lowering medical an prescription drug prices, reducing insurance premiums, et cetera by government edict (aka state control of the economy).

One thing that at first blush seems feasible is "maximizing price transparency". But that may be easier said than done, not that "maximizing" is quantifiable.

There already are some standard procedures where a patient can price compare. Given all the variables in patients, diseases, injuries and unknowns I don't believe a doctor's office can post a price list like a restaurant menu. I may be wrong, but I guessing Indy doesn't have posted price list for brochures, catalogues, magazine ads, etc. Each project is different.

  37. by Indy! on January 20, 2026 9:12 pm

You'd be right. When someone asks how much something costs I tell them it's like grocery shopping. How much do you spend on groceries? Depends on what you want or need when you go shopping.

  38. by oldedude on January 20, 2026 10:05 pm
po- I know this escapes you, but this is what bills look like when they're first proposed. They are purposefully vague so that you don't get members to chickenshit it as it forms. My bet is that it has both a dem and a GOP member sponsoring it. This is what each party can start with. So as bills go, it's not bad. Obviously, it's not what you or concha want, but I think it better than nothing. And the drugs aren't priced by the doctor, they're mostly priced by the pharmacy. Which depend on your insurance and the offshoot Rx pricing cards, so it's different for most people in that respect.
