I am perfectly fine with this assessment of Mamdani and his speech. I think all of the separate elements of this phrase are just what we need right now...

"hard edged"

That's GREAT! This is just what we need right now. Someone who is not afraid to call a spade a spade. Someone who gets right to the crux of the matter that everyone is scared of touching. Someone not terrified of the repercussions of speaking the truth, clearly, and so anyone could understand. I'm so encouraged by Mamdani's landslide victory.

"angry"

Well, DUH! There isn't a true American in this country right now who isn't absolutely furious at this attempt of Trump to turn America into an authoritarian dictatorship. I mean, the results of this week's elections certainly bore out to be the case, as well as all the protests lately. No Kings is now the "New Cool" after this last election, to be sure.

"divisive"

Yes. The country is quite divided today. It's a rather lopsided division with the vast majority of Americans landing on the side of America's continued democracy. But it is a division, nonetheless. And it is one that needs to be spread wider and made plainer. The division between Americans and Trump following un-Americans needs to be shown starkly in all its vast contrast.

Many of those who helped Trump achieve his goal of unconstitutional domination over our government and our country with their votes are slowly coming to grips with the cataclysmic results of their actions. They are coming to grips with the fact that what Trump is doing is far from what an American president is supposed to be and do. Let alonehis failure to achieve anything that he promised them. They are waking up to the realization that his policies and executive orders are doing nothing but driving this country deep into a miasma of corruption and nihilistic governance that if it goes on much longer, we could never recover from. Every day, more and more of Trump's followers are abandoning his ranks. Because they are remembering that they are Americans, not Russians. Not North Koreans. We are Americans. That is supposed to mean something in this world.

So, this division between true Americans and the facilitators of Trump's authoritarian coup needs to be made as stark as it can be. The two sides need to be fully fleshed out and seen for what they truly are, thereby illustrating to Trump's cult members that there is another way. An American way. They don't have to blindly follow an inhumanly colored con man who is ripping them off over a cliff. They can rejoin the Americans in this country and participate in America's restoration after this cataclysmically tragic episode in our country's history.

So yes, I believe that Mamdani is just what American politics needs right now. And this is just the beginning.

"There isn't a true American in this country right now who isn't absolutely furious at this attempt of Trump to turn America into an authoritarian dictatorship."

    HolyfreakinfrigginEFFINcow, man!

Remember, po, more, FAR MORE, BIPOCs voted for Trump than any GOP in 60 years, you filthy racist, you!!!!!

Clearly, yain't no GOP. That is for sure. The GOP is the home of openness and inclusion, acceptance, tolerance, diversity and freedom. There ain't a nanogram of any of those qualities in, you, po!!!!!

    po,

Think about this, because it's true. "... hard edged, angry and divisive!!!!!" All of this descriptors apply to the OrangeTurd... every time he opens his mouth.

    Nuff said?

  2. by Ponderer on November 6, 2025 9:25 am

"Think about this, because it's true. "... hard edged, angry and divisive!!!!!" All of this" -pedophile's bitch

    ...is a GOOD thing!

As I already explained and you were deaf to, I couldn't be happier about that in the context of Mamdani. For him, they are good things to be. He is those things in a good and productive way.

Trump is those things in a bad way. He is those things in a very destructive way.

And I don't expect you to be able to comprehend how that is possible. As a flaming MAGA Hat, you are incapable of nuance.

  3. by Ponderer on November 6, 2025 10:26 am

And I love how the MAGA Hats keep calling him a communist. That's hysterical.

Like... he's gonna get all chummy with communist leaders, doing their bidding and taking their side in everything or something. Like he's gonna start sending masked troops out into the streets to round up minorities and throw them into concentration camps. Like he's going to start funneling the state treasury into his and his cronies' pockets. Like he's going to put his fellow "communist" cronies into positions of high authority.

What truly American, non-communist leader would ever do such things?

  4. by Ponderer on November 6, 2025 10:32 am

And I love how pedophile's bitch is open, inclusive, accepting, and tolerant, and diverse because he welcomes fascism taking over the country.

It's the lame old To be tolerant, you have to tolerate intolerance! right wing idiocy.

  5. by oldedude on November 6, 2025 11:10 am
First, he's a socialist, not a communist. Big difference.

He's also a big supporter of CAIR, which has deep ties to the Jihadist movement. Of course, they're returning the favor by being one of his major contributors.

So in the aspect of "Diversity" and "tolerance" Mamdani is a loser.

I dunno, po. Government-run grocery stores?, sounds like Stalin to ole pb.

Not Big Brother Commie enuff for you?

  8. by Ponderer on November 6, 2025 1:42 pm

    "CAIR"

The Council on American–Islamic Relations (CAIR) is a Muslim civil rights and advocacy group. It is headquartered on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., with regional offices nationwide. Through civil rights actions, media relations, civic engagement, and education, CAIR works to promote social, legal and political activism among Muslims in America.

That's because you are stoopid. Mamdani isn't going to outlaw all other grocery stores forfucksake.

    I think it's a great idea!

  10. by HatetheSwamp on November 6, 2025 1:53 pm

po's denying that Z is proposing city-owned grocery stores. Lying for him, already!!!!!?

    Thanks, po.

These are going to be fun years. Yeeeeeeha!

  11. by Curt_Anderson on November 6, 2025 3:11 pm
"I dunno, po. Government-run grocery stores?, sounds like Stalin to ole pb." ---HtS

    HtS,
Zohran Mamdani proposed creating a network of city-owned grocery stores to combat the high cost of food and address "food deserts" in underserved areas.

Ask our own OD if he ever shopped at government-run grocery stores.

  12. by Ponderer on November 6, 2025 6:15 pm

I believe that Mamdani's idea for "city-owned grocery stores" is an outstanding idea. It's too bad that pedophile's bitch was too stoopid to understand that from what I said.

  13. by oldedude on November 6, 2025 6:56 pm
I think he understands that. I also think you DON'T UNDERSTAND IT. Just talk to the folks that come from socialist countries. Apparently you're too stupid or lazy to understand how capitalism works. NONE of them that were in business are now in business. How many fucking failures do you want?

  14. by Indy! on November 6, 2025 10:33 pm

Funny how when Mandami gets elected the first thing out of the MAGAts' mouths is he should "bring people together" even though we've never seen any of them complain about Trump's bread and butter is dividing America into MAGAts on one side and the eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeevil "radical left" on the other side.

  15. by Ponderer on November 7, 2025 7:09 am

Oh Indy!, Trump is all about acceptance and inclusion and togetherness brotherly love and bringing the whole country together!

Haven't you been paying any attention???
    .

  16. by HatetheSwamp on November 7, 2025 7:51 am

"Funny how when Mandami gets elected the first thing out of the MAGAts' mouths is he should "bring people together" even though we've never seen any of them complain about Trump's bread and butter is dividing America..."

    Bullfernerner!

That's exactly why I refused to vote for Trump in 024.

It's curious to me that Z channeled his inner OrangeTurd in his victory speech. His choice to attack Old-school Dems... MARIO Cuomo, I believe, is still regarded as a saintly figure among many New Yorkers. Choosing to do an us/them schtick with what is obviously the majority of Dems across the whole NY Dem Party strikes ole pb as the height of folly...

... and then to besmirch and belittle the OrangeTurd when GOPs own the whole DC Swamp? I don't get it.

  17. by HatetheSwamp on November 7, 2025 7:54 am

"Trump is all about acceptance and inclusion and togetherness brotherly love and bringing the whole country together!"

No. Trump is not about openness and inclusion, acceptance, tolerance, diversity and freethinking...

... but the whole GOP is, and it owns all of DC until at least January 027, keehee ha!

  18. by Ponderer on November 7, 2025 11:06 am

Well, the whole MAGAGOP is currently all up Donald Trump's ass and consequently, absolutely none of their alleged openness and inclusion, acceptance, tolerance, diversity and freethinking is making it back out at all.

  19. by Indy! on November 7, 2025 11:07 am

Thia is why I don't bother reading 99.9% of Brown Shorts' posts...

"That's exactly why I refused to vote for Trump in 024."

"Just talk to the folks that come from socialist countries. Apparently, you're too stupid or lazy to understand how capitalism works. NONE of them that were in business are now in business."

What countries would those be? Vietnam has them, but I don't know of another. Bulgaria (Socialist) and Romania (Ultra Right) are thinking of it. In both cases, to help their agricultural sectors survive.

And I do speak to a couple of Bulgarians. A close friend whom I meet a couple of times a week to discuss things in general and his books, he is a prolific writer, wife is Bulgarian. She and her brother live with him.

An interesting and intelligent pair, by the way. They were defectors from the Soviet days in Bulgaria. Father is a prominent writer and mother an international and Olympic judge of gymnastic dance or whatever it is called. The manner of their defection was cute. He was in a band, a Rock Band that went on a tour to Sweden. Antonia went along as a singer, it doesn't need a voice doe rock. While ther, they defected by crossing the border to Sweden.

Both are ardent Trump supporters as a reaction to their Soviet days. That makes it lively at times since my friend was quite senior in the Canadian Conservative Party at one time.

I have to reeducate all three.

  21. by Ponderer on November 7, 2025 11:17 am

Right, Indy!. His asinine insistence that he did not vote for Donald Trump in the last election, but actually did vote for JD Vance is possibly the stupidest attempt at gaslighting I have ever witnessed. Here or anywhere.

Of course pedophile's bitch voted for Trump. This last time made his third time doing it. He knows this. He filled in the box or whatever just like everyone else who voted for Trump did. He just likes pretending to be the stoopidest moron in the forum for some idiotic reason. It makes him feel smart I guess to think anyone would be stoopid enough to buy his horseshit. He'd have to be fully insane to expect anyone to believe such cockamamie poppycock.

  22. by HatetheSwamp on November 7, 2025 12:06 pm

"He just likes pretending to be the stoopidest moron in the forum..."

    He ain't pretending.

po- So I've heard you say several times now. We need more divisiveness. So we should hate each other more. zohran's speech is very typical of not only the dims, but also of Mao, Stalin, Pol Pot, and the Kim's (DPRK, if you haven't figured that out), Castro, Hitler, and all the failures in Africa, including Sudan, which has been a great thread between your wife and me. ALL of those use divisiveness as their central issue. "US vs. THEM" is the central issue. There were no words about how great NYC really is. Nothing about working with the federal government, even though, as a "socialist" he believes in bigger federal government, and absolutely ZERO federalization. (if you need a primer on that, I will answer it. Just ask).

SO. I understand this is exactly what you like. Shit on the constitution and throw it away so you can create "your" nirvana in something that has NEVER proven "effective." EVERY TIME Marxist theory has been tried, it has been AN EPIC FAILURE. The countries go back to a capitalist system because the government ownership is too fucked up to support the efficiency of privately owned means of production.

  26. by Indy! on November 7, 2025 7:31 pm

    Best laugh of the day...

And this is the guy who likes to pretend he knows other countries and nationalities better than everyone else while he's living in a lily-white north Florida backwater burg with all the other white boy ex-military jarhead Trumpers.

    Gang,

Ben Shapiro gets it about Z by isolating the line of the Victory Speech that wowed pb as much as the Eugene Debs quote. I don't who the blonde babe on the screen with Ana but Ana ain't disagreeing with her. And, Ana nods along with Shapiro.

And, that Byron Donalds quote? Bang on, bruh!

Castro denied he was a "communist" when he was first got into power. So did Maduro, when assuming power, he immediately pulled all the major industries in Nicaragua under the government while assigning the local oligarchs to run them.

And just so you understand. True Marxist "communism" has never been realized in history. It has always been stopped as a fascist socialist state.

Again, questionable deflection, and very, very WRONG.

  29. by HatetheSwamp on November 8, 2025 4:35 am

Rush occasionally referred to "the People's Republic of California." I wonder if that's what Z envisions for NYC.

"po- So I've heard you say several times now. We need more divisiveness. So we should hate each other more." -olde dude

Yeah, no you haven't. As usual. You just gotta spin my words into some cockamamie ridiculousness that you pulled out of your ass. It's never a surprise, od.

"I understand this is exactly what you like. Shit on the constitution and throw it away so you can create "your" nirvana in something that has NEVER proven 'effective.'" -olde dude

Oh my yes. Why does anyone ever think that focusing on the needs of the poor and middle class is a winning policy that ever works? Such candidate are automatically commies.

Geez, you flaming MAGA Hats sure hate it when someone wants to govern for the benefit of the poor and middle class. I had no idea that you two are both billionaires! Or are you just gullible, racist idiots?

You two have got a fat lot of nerve accusing anyone else of supporting a candidate who you stupidly believe channels un-American dictators while you both voted for a guy who in just under a year has proven himself to be the biggest budding authoritarian fascist currently on the planet. An unbridled authoritarian megalomaniac who has already wiped his ass with the Constitution of this country countless times. A universally corrupt asshole who doesn't give a shit about the Constitution, the rule of law, or the poor and middle class once he's conned the votes out of them. And who has already blatantly shown that he is governing absolutely based on hate and white supremacist racism and absolutely division. A narcissistic, demented and senile dictator whose only goal is to become richer than Vladimir Putin while selling out the birthrights and treasure of countless American citizens.

And you two rubes have defended and supported every one of his heinous and boundlessly un-American policies like he's your religious leader and it's a To the death! kinda thing for you.

Trump is already doing things that every authoritarian dictator on Earth does and they're allcheering him on like they never in their lives imagined they ever would for an American president. He is already being Mao, Stalin, Pol Pot, and Kim Jong un, and you two fascist-loving MAGA Hat cult members ignore it all while setting our hair on fire over someone who won their race in a progressive landslide and hasn't even taken office yet.

Boy that orange psychopath sure did a bang-up job on you two. To the point that anyone on the polar opposite side of this neo-Hitler president is Mao Tse Tung. You two are literally the biggest flaming hypocrites I have ever known.

It's a good thing that your hypocritical blather is all meaningless because of it.

  31. by Donna on November 8, 2025 2:45 pm

The reason socialism and communism have trouble is not due to the idea being wrong - it's due to either the leaders prostituting the system for their own welfare, or the U.S. pulling a "regime change" war on them (you know - like we're about to do with Venezuela.)
