Get it.

There is a real supply chain problem.

The fact that people are hoarding is fruit of their lack of confidence in the country's Dem leadership to address the problem.

This is a Catch 22 thing. But, the root of the problem is that the smoke filled room handlers of "that feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap" installed a total incompetent in the White House.

My wife does the grocery shopping for our house, but I haven't heard her remark about any food shortages, price gouging or any need to horde.

Is anybody here actually experiencing food shortages? The only supply chain issue I noticed--and it barely affected us--are the computer chips needed for cars. We are waiting until cars are back in full production before we even think about buying a new car.

I service two Whole Foods in Long Beach. I don't merchandise food products, but I do merchandise kitchen gadgets and other food-related items like baking sheets and cake, pie, loaf, and cupcake pans, and yesterday I wasn't able to order any of those products due to unavailability, which is highly unusual, especially this time of the year when those products are in high demand, as my company has always stocked up on those items before the holiday season. Many other products were unavailable, too, like bag clips. I wasn't able to order about half of the products I tried to place an order for.

Businessinsider says America is running out of everything not because of supply chain issues but because we are all buying too much stuff at once. I can easily imagine people cooking at home more and buying kitchen gadgets. We are.

I've done a lot of reading on this. There are many reasons. Another one is that many people are refusing to work minimum wage jobs. There's a huge backlash against MW jobs right now. Many people are living off of the money they accumulated with the COVID relief pay they received for many months on top of their regular unemployment checks. And I would assume that some are sponging off of their parents and other daily members and friends. The two factions, employers and employees, seem to be waiting each other out.

    Donna,
Besides what you say, I suspect that a lot families are having one of the spouses stay home rather than work outside the home. With childcare complicated by Covid isssues, including availability and cost, it's probably not worth the hassle and expense to have couples both employed.
